My mom is in Oak Village, a little assisted living facility. It's just a little home with 8 rooms, they have 2 nurses during the day, and a nurse at night. They check her and make sure she's pretty much not left alone. I like the consistency so she gets the same people. It's clean and quiet, and it fits my mother's needs. They have a little front patio area where they can go out and sit. There's nothing other than the bedrooms and the common areas but it suits her needs. The dining area is in the common area, the meals are all well-balanced, and they cook them fresh. They do little snacks during the day too and they usually have nice desserts. I don't know too much about what activities they do with the residents during the day. I know they had just brought in a petting zoo for them, but she hasn't been there that long so I don't know what else they have. They try to do things for them though. They also make sure that the rest of the guests have things like magazines, puzzle books, and memory books. My mother doesn't do anything. They have tried to offer her all kinds of things to do like needlepoint or reading or magazines or any of that but she doesn't want to do anything. It's not their fault that she doesn't choose to do anything.

It was a private little home with only about six or eight people. It was a very nice place and they were nice, personable people. Each resident had a private room and they were small but nice. They had people come in to entertain the residents and they also had a piano there.

It was nice, homey, and cozy. They are going to build some units that will give my friend's mother a private bathroom, which would be good because she likes to organize things, and if she had to share a bathroom, it might upset the other person if she moved their belongings around. It's a small place, and I think that people will get enough attention if they wanted it. Some people were in their rooms, and some people were out in the main area watching TV. They have a fence out back, and if she decided to leave and try to climb the fence, I don't know if she could. I was just a little concerned. I don't know if there's an alarm on the fence, but I think they have enough people there that could see her try to leave. The backyard goes into a nice nature area, so it's pleasant to sit out there and see the birds and whatever else that's out there. I saw a child come visit her mother, and she was very friendly with the staff who was friendly with her, like she knew them as family.

The staff is very friendly; I like that a lot. The rooms have a good size, and they are very clean and smell good; everything looks organized. I saw the kitchen; from what I saw, it would be comfortable for somebody to cook. Everybody was eating at the same time.

Best facility I could have placed my loved one in. Staff shows love and care to it's residents. They provide all and any info needed to family to prepare for the end of life process. No words could ever express my great appreciation to all the staff for their comforting words and hugs. I have come to love this staff as if they are my own family and thank them for their living care to Bill.
Oak Village was built as the ideal assisted living community. Full renovations were completed in 2017 and Oak Village continues to be Orange City's premium alternative to a non-institutional setting.
We provide all of our in-house services without up-charging for levels of care, medications or any other additional services like other places. With our small resident size, we have more than enough care to go-around- so we offer all-inclusive pricing for our residents. Below is our general services, but we are happy to meet the individualized needs of our residents.
