My daughter-in-law moved into The Meadowlands. There's a person who's actually in charge of the memory care part. They have a lot of activities, which some places don't. We visited three places, and this is the best place. The staff members are great. I don't have anything bad to say about them. The facility looks pretty clean. They've had some kind of food activity today. They were making many banana cream pies. One other time, they had a table set up with a box of greeting cards that they could look at, read, and put in the envelope. They had a big beach ball and a jigsaw puzzle. They just keep them busy. My daughter-in-law is in a two-person room, so it saves us some money.

The Meadowlands was good. We were satisfied with it. It's just not the one for my mom. There are a lot more people in it but it was great. The lady showed us and told us everything, and we were well satisfied with that. The rooms would be enough. I saw a studio. The only downside that I saw was you have to bring your own refrigerator and microwave. Otherwise, the rooms were sufficient and nice. The lady was fantastic and well-informed in knowing what was going on. The dining area was sufficient. It was good. I didn't have any problems with it.

Provider Response

My father has moved into The Meadowlands. What I like best is it's close to where I live. I haven't found anything about it I dislike. It seems like the memory care unit is small. There's not a whole lot of residents there, but it's sufficient size that they can do the job, and they have dedicated staff to it. I wish it was a little bit bigger and had more people involved with it, but it's fine. The staff is very friendly. They seem to genuinely care about the people they're taking care of. They mailed me a calendar for January that has a list of the daily activities that the people will be doing at the memory care. There was bingo. They had something that involved coloring and they had a little contest. They had time set aside where everybody would get together and watch a movie. My father said the food was pretty good. I've toured a lot of different places before I selected The Meadowlands. There are a lot of places that are nicer, bigger, and swankier, but they're also much more expensive. I found that for the price that I was willing to pay for my father's care, this was the best choice. It's not the absolute top-of-the-line. There are better places out there and it's not cheap, but I think for the money combined with being close to home, it was a good choice. It's very clean and seems to be well-maintained. They're not more expensive or a lot cheaper compared to other places of the same caliber. They're priced appropriately for the market.

Provider Response

We're thrilled your father has found comfort at The Meadowlands. Your positive feedback on our caring staff, engaging activities, and affordability is truly appreciated. We're honored to be part of your father's journey and are committed to providing exceptional care.

The Meadowlands was a very nice facility with a nice room. It was well-kept. I liked some of the activities they had there. They had things to keep the brain active. They had some spiritual activities which I looked for also. Everyone that I met there was very nice.

My mom has moved into The Meadowlands. My first impression when we stepped in was, that it was very clean, and very professional, warm, and inviting. Her room is very large, very accommodating. It suits her needs very well. So far, it's been great. The staff, so far, has been okay, and they've been doing a very good job. Okay. We have no complaints at this point. They have the basics, like bingo, and they offer church service or some kind of service on Sundays. They have a calendar of events that they give them every month, and that tells them all the events for each week and each day of the month. They're free to go to them if they want or not. They don't make them go and do anything, but it is available to them if they want to go. So far, the food's been very good; my mom said it is. They have a restaurant-style where there are options for each meal, and then they can also do the ala carte if they don't particularly like what the meal is. They have options of hamburgers, cheeseburgers, that kind of thing. That's one of the things we like too, there are options for meals. It's been pretty good so far, we have no complaints or anything.

The tour I had with The Meadowlands was very good. It was a very homey and warm place. People were friendly. It was very clean. The room was spacious. I saw the dining room. It was not at mealtime, but I was favorably impressed by it. The staff was great. They had an outdoor seating area. They just didn't do the follow-up about the tour, which I had experienced at other facilities.

I went to tour The Meadowlands. The person I talked to was very nice. She walked me through trying to explain the activities that they do, the food they serve, and the help and care they provide. She also tried to explain to me the grounds that they had, and she showed me one of the bedrooms.

The Meadowlands looked like they had a nice setup for activities. They had a room that you could move someone into right away, and you could provide your own furniture. The marketing lady who gave me the tour was really good. She was very friendly and comprehensive on any questions. The dining area looked nice. It was right in the center of everything, so it seemed like that was a good setup. Their floor plan seemed pretty logical. They had the lock-off for the memory care on one side and then the assisted living on the other, but they could also come out to the assisted living side for the activities and the food.

My parents were at the Meadowlands. We were very pleased. My parents started out in assisted living, and then my father fell multiple times. During all that, the dementia was just like a switch, so they moved him to memory care after we got there. It started out that they were going to be together, and then things escalated pretty quickly. My father was in the memory care, and my mother stayed over in the assisted living. They were wonderful. They were very caring, and the place was very clean. They cared for my father as if I was caring for him, so I have nothing but really wonderful things to say. The food was very good, I even had one meal. I went back and found the chef because I was so impressed with the food. In the time my mother was there they had shrimp boil. They had a St. Louis Cardinals Day, they had all kinds of balloons and decorations, and they had a saxophone player playing music. The only reason we went home is that my mother has lived in our home for 50 years, and I think she just was melancholy, and now that she has lost him she just wanted to be back home, but we would go back there in a minute. They had a library, an activities room, an arts and crafts room, a sunroom, and a garden where a lot of the residents seemed to enjoy being outdoors. It was in memory care, so it was obviously kind of a locked down type of area. The director really stepped up. I brought hospice in, and she was the one that guided me with that because that was uncharted territory for me. The hospice came in and they worked in conjunction to help my father, and they were wonderful. I have nothing but good things. The building was a little bit older, but the hallways were very wide for wheelchair accessibility. The rooms were very spacious. The only thing I would say is that it was a little bit older, but that wasn't a problem for me. I thought they had a lot of nice activities. They had a big Easter party. There was an Easter bunny, and a lot of children came. They like having the children there. We rushed there because my father was at the hospital, and they accommodated him. They gave him furniture until I could get his furniture there. They went above and beyond in my eyes, so that needs to be noted. They put a bed in there, they had a recliner, and they did all these things because I couldn't get furniture the day of the move, and they accommodated us. They had a really great maintenance man that moved that furniture out. They tried very hard to make us happy.

We moved my father-in-law into The Meadowlands. The staff there was incredible. They made him feel like he was the most important person there that day. They made his transition very smooth. We ate lunch and dinner with them, and they did a happy hour kind of thing, and then he got to meet other residents that were in the facility. When you walked through the facility, it was very clean and bright. The staff members seemed very kind. My father-in-law is in a memory care unit, and so things were appropriately blocked off. They helped us with the move. Some of the staff members were kind enough to lend us moving dollies, and they helped us. The nurses there picked up his medications. Everybody made him feel welcome. He has been there for five days, and we've been there three out of the five days, and we've had the same impression every time that we've been there. My father-in-law had a little harder time grasping that he was going to be staying there, but they've helped him with everything. They helped him figure out how to work his TV because he struggles with basic skills. They help him answer his phone because we have a cell phone that we try to call. Right now, knowing that we've been there, I am thankful that this is where he is. We can afford it for now, which is great compared to some other places. I don't have anything negative to say about it right now. They also told us when we got there that their visiting hours are 24-hours a day. My father-in-law has his chair, a queen-sized bed, and a dresser in his room. It is equipped if he ever wanted to have a friendship suite set up. Right now, there isn't anyone else living with him in his room. It's large, clean, and it's wheelchair-accessible to everything. The shower is like a zero-level entry. He's got a closet. We just brought in his chest of drawers in his closet, so he doesn't have much that he needs to store. I believe all rooms are exactly the same thing. However, you pay one fee if you feel that they're going to be on their own or you pay a slightly lower fee if they ever are going to pair him with a roommate in a friendship suite. But the size of the room is actually quite large compared to other areas. It is because it can handle two residents at a time. Also, the nurse called me for my father-in-law the very next day, and gave me a direct line so that I could call her at any time. If anyone were worried about being able to get a hold of anyone, and if there's an emergency, she gave me a direct line to her so I could just call, and she's like 20 feet from my father-in-law.

The Meadowlands has staff members that are inviting, very down to earth, and just very encompassing. They all call mom by her name, even just after a few days of being there. Everybody is very nice. The facility is clean, modern, very nice, neat, and warm. The food is very good and very healthy for them. She likes it. I went to a fall festival last night and it was loads of fun. She enjoyed it, too. Mom has also played games. gone on an outing, and has been to church services, which are exceptional.

I visited this facility

The Meadowlands was in a nice location, and well-kept. We only had a conversation with one person. There were single rooms, double beds, and no divider or privacy. I wish that it could have been a private room, but other than that, it was clean, and it was big. There were common spaces, they were nice, and the memory care area, they were smaller than the assisted living. They were very secure. There's an outdoor area, an area for seating, and they also had raised garden beds. It was nice.

I visited the memory care at The Meadowlands. Everybody seemed friendly and they kept people back in their own area so they wouldn't get mingled in with the assisted living people unless there were people with them. It was nice. Their food was good, and they gave them a choice. The dining area was quite large and I think that's where they do activities as well. They had single rooms and rooms for two people. Each room had a bathroom, so it was nice. The staff was very capable and nice.

My dad will be moving into The Meadowlands. Everyone was super nice. What they offer is a lot for the price that they do have. The number of amenities that they have to offer is astounding. They have physical therapy. I've only talked to one person, and she did amazing. The rooms were roomy. They have a salon, a theater, a dining room, a chapel, a courtroom, a cafeteria, and a physical therapy room.

My uncle has moved into The Meadowlands. I've never been there. I'm in Texas, and they're in Missouri. My sister is the one that was on the ground there. I only know that it's a small facility with memory care being separate from their assisted living or their skilled nursing facility. They have a nice setup with a nice cafeteria and semi-private rooms. I've seen them on video, and they seemed pretty nice. It's a lot nicer than a skilled nursing facility. It is nicer than the other memory care places that we looked at that. There's a little backyard patio (like a fenced-in area) where people can go outside, so that was nice because my uncle likes to go out all the time. It seems like it's really good. My uncle hasn't been there very long. He's been causing trouble, and they've been dealing with it. It sounds like it's a difficult job caring for all those people that have dementia. It sounds like they're doing their best. I've talked to the staff several times, both on the phone and via email. I have no issues with what they're doing. They seem to be very patient with people with dementia. It's a locked facility. They have a lot of rooms there. They have a little back outdoor area, which is nice. I've been in skilled nursing facilities that are locked, and it's a heck a lot better than that.

Thank you so much for your review. We love having your uncle with us and we are grateful for you and your families support.

When I visited The Meadowlands, I found it to be very dark. It was good; it was kind of when you had to go through a locked door to get to where he would be staying. The staff was friendly, professional, but a little pushy about getting him in there. The room was OK, but the hallways were really dark and depressing. They should maybe use lighter colors and not so much Adeline. The location was OK, it was reasonably easy to find. I only interacted with one woman, she jumped right into memory care, and she didn't do anything to try and improve my view of it when I said, "This is kind of dark."

I visited this facility

We toured The Meadowlands. It was fine. It's a little outdated and just a little too far out for us. I mean, they were all friendly and well-dressed. They look nice and everything. They kind of introduced us to several staff members, but it wasn't like we really sat down and talked with them or anything. The person who showed me around The Meadowlands wasn't there, so I don't think she really understood too much of what she was doing. The biggest thing we had against them was they were too far out for us. To me, it was kind of dated. We didn't like the room layout.

The person who greeted us and took us on the tour of The Meadowlands was very warm, not a salesperson type at all. The thing that we liked most about the facility is that it just put you at ease the minute you walk through the door. You didn't feel like it was a depressing place or medical. It was just a comfortable feel, which is exactly what we wanted for my brother-in-law. If that's where he's going to spend the rest of his time, we want it to feel like home for him. It was very clean and all the staff seemed very personable. They have a theater room. They go on outings. They have different activities throughout the day. They have cards that people were playing. Their dining hall was very nice and had a wide range menu. It has 66 apartments. We liked the idea of it being small, and that they could check on people frequently.

I toured The Meadowlands, and it was very, very much top notch. It was very, very well appointed with very good people. It was just a very good facility for what we were we were looking for. The staff was very good. It looked good, and everything was clean and neat and as it should have been. We saw the living area, the courtyard, and their activity areas. That was pretty much it because that's about what they have inside the area for the memory care. We saw that they had a very nice courtyard with a walking path, and it was completely fenced. They had many different activities out there for them to do, whether it be planting flowers, sitting on a glider, sitting on a chair, or sitting on a swing. There were some other activities out there that kind of escaped my memory for the moment. It was a nice place.

My father is at The Meadowlands. It's pretty nice and clean. They're nice people. It looks like they got all the facilitation they need. It's a pretty fair price. Their staff is extremely helpful. They've made some special arrangements for me to help get him there because he has to have a wheelchair accessible van. They were gonna pick him up, but their van had maintenance issues, so they paid for a service to pick him up.

I visited this facility

The Meadowlands was one of the weaker places we saw. The rooms were small, and they allowed dogs in and I could smell a lot of incontinent animal smell throughout the facility. The amenities seemed fair and comparable to everywhere else. The facility was rather small, so they didn't have as many things such as large areas for the guests to gather for bingo and things like that. The exercise area was not as big and didn't offer as much, but they had front areas where they could watch TV together or play games. The dining place was restaurant style, and it was pretty good and neat. They had a little bistro/bar area that you can go to throughout the day. The sales staff was very nice, but slightly pushy and kind of gave indirect answers. I felt that the price point was really high for the amenities they had compared to the other places I saw.

This facility looks and seems great when you move your family member in. But after that not much is done in the ads of caring for your loved one. They are severely understaffed. And because of this residents go without care for essiantial things. It is definitely not a safe place to leave your family If you dont plan on being there a few times a week at least. To check on them and see what's not being done. Staff will smile in your face and pretend they care. Trust me they do not. They will also lie to you about things they have "taken care of" when you get there to see for yourself they didnt even do them at all. Send your family somewhere else.

I liked The Meadowlands because they have a lot to offer, there's a lot of involvement, a lot of activities, and I like the whole setup. It has a very warm atmosphere, and everybody was involved, from the personnel of housekeeping to the director. My mother's room is nice and clean. She'll be sharing a room, but it's only her in there right now, and it's big enough that two people can have queen-sized beds. They have a beauty shop, a barber shop, a movie theater, and an activity room. It's a beautiful place. The food could either be served or they'll come up and bring it to them.

We chose the Meadowlands for Mom. It's close to home, quiet, it's really pleasant, and Mom likes it. The room is not square, that's why we picked it, and it has a little seat for the bed. The lady who showed me around The Meadowlands was very accommodating, but it just wasn't the place for my father. The staff was very aloof, didn't speak, and didn't seem very friendly. I saw big televisions and people just sitting around. The rooms were gorgeous and the whole place was very fancy.

We loved The Meadowlands. There was a shared room available and we didn’t want my mom in that. There was also a private room that had another room behind it to where another person would come through my mom's room to get to hers, which we thought was really strange. There wasn't a room there that we liked for my mom because she definitely needed to be in a room by herself. The rooms were also too small to be shared. They did explain that by the people get to memory care, it's actually better for them to have a roommate because they need the stimulus to have someone around, but that's not the stage that my mom was at at the time. In the memory care unit, they had the Bingo that's by color, so it's appropriate for people that were at that stage. They had a really nice eating area though.

The Meadowlands seemed a little more country or rural, more like a home. It's all on one level, so there's no stairs or elevators. The review of the facility went very well, and she was able to answer all of my questions. Their programs were set up more toward the individual, there were a lot of activities there, and they have a full month of activities available. The dining was better than most, it was cooked to order, and the kitchen was open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., which would be ideal for us.

The Meadowlands is very modern looking, the decor is very nice, and the way the dining is laid out is nice. There are plenty of places where people can stop and sit and talk. My mother likes to talk to people and I knew she would do well when she got in there. The people have been very nice to us, and they're very genuine. The people that work in the dining area and the nurses have all been very good. It really worked out well for Mom. It sits out in the middle of a field and Mom grew up on a farm. She is Catholic and they have a Catholic mass there once a week and rosaries on a different day. She's a very big Cardinals fan, and they have a theater room there where they show the ball games and play movies. They have outings, they play bingo, they have happy hours on Fridays, and they provide entertainment. The food is very good and they have chefs. You can eat from 7:00 in the morning to 7:00 at night. There are no set mealtimes. She's been there about a month. They're going through a process of replacing carpets in their hallways. They've already replaced the flooring in the dining room. When mom went in, they replaced the carpeting and repainted all the walls in her room. The activities are very good. It's all on one level.

Mom moved into Assisted Living at the Meadowlands. The place is beautiful and very small. The staff is fantastic. Mom is in a basic room but there's room for her bed, she can hang things on the wall, the paint is good, and there are chairs. They clean the room once a week. The food is good but basic with not a lot of seasoning, but it's fine. It's free seating dining with waitresses. I love its location because it's in the middle of a meadow. It's such a small place that everybody knows everybody.

Current medical director Dr. Hinton is not there enough on assisted living side to regularly see residents. My parents health has declined. Staff are caring but they do not communicate across shifts so messages don't get relayed. They don't seem to read medical charts. For older adults without medical concerns, this is a nice place. Otherwise, not the best choice

My mom is currently at Assisted living at Meadowlands, but they don't accept Medicare. For long term, we probably have to move her to a facility because her funds may run out as some point. It is an assisted living, but they have a memory unit. That's where she is, and she's been there for about two and a half years now. So, far we are very happy with the care that she has. It is a very nice facility. The do a lot of things to engage the people, especially in the memory unit.

I toured the Assisted Living at Meadowlands. I thought it was a very wonderful place. The place was clean. They had a lot of activities for the seniors. I really felt like their plan on feeding was wonderful. The kitchen was open from 7 in the morning until 7 at night, so you don’t have to go down at a prescribed time, and you can pretty much have whatever you want to eat. The chef will try to prepare whatever you want; like if you want pancakes for supper, that’s what you can have, or if you want friend chicken for breakfast. I was just very impressed with the services there.
