I visited this facility

My mother will be moving into Five Star Residences of Noblesville. The drawing point for us is it's very inexpensive. It was far less expensive than any place else I visited. The rooms are larger than other places we saw, and it was real close to home.

I visited this facility

We chose Five Star Residences of Noblesville. I like that they only had 15 residents in memory care, so it felt more family-style. They also had an opening right now, so it was motivating to use them. They are also only 10 minutes or less from my house, so that's another motivator. They had a special right now that they were offering in that you get your first, third, and ninth month free, so that was another motivator. I like that the rooms had a little kitchenette in them, and the bathroom was big and spacious. They had an activity schedule with a lot of things. Even before the activity time, which would have been in an hour, they had a group of ladies doing word searches at the table, they had another girl sit by the TV and they put in a video for her. A person was talking to her like she was her friend and engaging her, I liked that, too. I watched breakfast happening and then stayed for a while. I liked the staff's interaction with the clients, helping those that needed help and then transitioning from breakfast to some free time. I just liked it all. I liked the atmosphere; it was good. Since there are only 15 clients, you only need one living room area with some other chairs off to the side. The eating area had tables that would seat four with a little kitchen, I liked it. There was just one hallway where the residents stayed rather than it being bigger like some of the other facilities. They had an outside area, too. One thing I didn't like about Five Star Residences is that they don't have skilled nursing. So if that's needed in the future, we would have to move my aunt again, and that was one thing I didn't like about them. The staff who gave me the tour was great. The aides and the nurses were very helpful.

I am/was a resident of this facility

When we moved into the facility over 3 years ago it was privately owned and was fabulous! HOWEVER, within a year to a year and a half things changed. The quality of service began to go downhill and shortly after that the prices were raised disproportionately to not only the cost of living but to inflation as well. Around June of 2019 you could tell budgets were being cut drastically resulting in the cut back in activities, services and the lowering of the quality of food served. In a retirement community where many are struggling to keep their sugar levels balanced we began to see one meal after another where the only vegetable offerings were all starches. They stopped considering the dietary needs of the residence so that those with food allergies had options, and the quality of the foods that they were serving was obviously a lower grade than what had been served before. The fresh produce and fruit offerings began to be slowly removed as well or bought in such a low supply those who got to the dining room later were not given an option for fresh food. In September/October timeframe I began getting sick, which I am guessing was because they were having to treat the low quality meat with preservatives or tenderizers to make it eatable. Even with the preservatives/tenderizers the meat was not eatable at times because it was so tough you couldn’t chew it. Even though I submitted complaints, even to the home office in another state, nothing changed. When I started losing weight I knew I had to do something so we found another facility and have moved. We loved the other residence and hated leaving our friends but our health had to come first.

We made arrangements to stay at Five Star Residences of Noblesville. It was excellent and we liked the facilities completely. The house we decided to stay in is a two-bedroom with a kitchen, and it has all the things we need. We looked at their independent living. The food was good.

I visited this facility

We visited Five Star Residences of Noblesville, it was very nice, and a couple of girls showed us around and gave us different options. They were clean and had very nice personnel working there. The independent living residents have food options, the rooms were very nice, it’s kept up, and they repaint when someone moves out. They make sure everything is working well.

Riverwalk Commons was very nice. They served three meals a day and had entertainments come in. They had a bus that took people to various places in the community. They also had laundry service, an exercise room, a little café that people could use for small gatherings, and a family dining room that you could use. They had various places that had puzzles and games out. They showed us the one-bedroom and one that was just a room. They were very nice.

I thought Riverwalk Commons was a great place. I stayed for lunch and had a great meal in their great dining area. The people were very friendly. I found nothing wrong with it except that I decided I wasn't ready yet. I looked at the one- and two-bedrooms in independent living. They were smaller than what I have been used to living in, so I was a little depressed by it. There's nothing wrong with it. Riverwalk Commons was a great place. It was friendly and what I would be looking for.

I like everything about Riverwalk Commons: the nursing staff, the attention that the patients get, the cleanliness, and the professionalism of the staff. The food is super good, and the activities are outstanding. Since my sister went in, we have recommended it to five other senior citizens, and they've all taken up residence there. They're all very happy.

I looked at a garden home in River Commons. It was nice, but not as secure, and I didn't feel that the security for my mother would be sufficient for what we need. Still, the staff was friendly, and they gave me a tour on a kind of last minute thing. It is 10 years old, so it is not as fancy as the other ones. The main reason that we didn't go for this one was the security. They did have that security, and it is safe for anybody, but my mom is just a worrier. It was very clean.

Riverwalk Commons was very nice. The saleslady was very accommodating and very informative. They had a very nice layout. However, I don't think that's going to fit our needs. The rooms were smaller than I would've preferred, but they were nicely laid out, and the walls and carpeting looked very nice. They were having a surprise party for a staff member at the time of my visit. It seemed very clean. I can't think of anything negative about them.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Last November, I moved my mother into Riverwalk Commons. I chose this community among others because it has a memory section and residents have their own room. The maximum in the memory section is only 22 people, so it is not crowded. They get more one on one type of attention. Their food is nice because they serve it in a home style way. They can decide the amount of food to have. I like it that way, because it means they don't have extreme amount of food on their plates. Their food tastes good too. I have tasted it during the events that the families of the residents are invited to join in. You can imagine that in any holiday, they make it somehow like a mardi gras. Recently, they did prom night. In totality, the place ended up a convenience because my sister lives nearby. The community has been very helpful. Thank goodness we moved our mother in Riverwalk and it worked out!

Before my friend passed away, she was in Riverwalk. They treated her very nicely. She had been there for several years. She had Alzheimer's but she was allowed to stay there until she got so bad that she had to go to another place. They were very considerate. When they came in to assist her, they were always very kind. They provided really good meals for my friends. She seemed to enjoy them. Her husband definitely enjoyed them too. Though she didn't take part much in their activities, I do know they have several of them. They did have all kind of activities for them.

Riverwalk Commons Senior Living was probably the facility that my mom was most comfortable with considering her personal likes and needs. It had the combination of garden homes for independent living as well as the assisted living that was in the main building. Her personal desire was the flexibility of garden homes so that there was an easy walk to the main cafeteria/dining room. We had dinner and the food they served there was fine but it was very tasty. One of the residents even got up and played piano for everybody. That was good experience. Overall, the ambience of the facility was very casual and friendly. It was also worth mentioning that their marketing directors were very helpful in answering questions.

I am/was a resident of this facility

We've been with Riverwalk for 2 years now. We have an independent living apartment. It's a very nice and clean facility. It's such a wonderful place. We have a big dining area for all the residents and the food is very good. We have a lot of activities here. We have almost anything we want. We have a wellness and exercise facility. We have local bus trips now and then. We dine out and go to the grocery store.
