I visited this facility

Saint Therese of New Hope is a Catholic community. There's a chapel on site so mom would not have to worry about getting to a church when she no longer drives. They are doing a total remodel of the facility, so everything will be brand new. Location to me would work out very well. I've been there before and it just felt like it was going to be a good fit for mom. There are lots of social activities and then once she gets to the point of needing assisted living, it's pretty much right there. It's in a nice neighborhood. The apartments were very spacious, too.

I visited this facility

We toured Saint Therese of New Hope and it seemed fine. We saw different apartments, and toured the different places. They were having an ice cream social the day I visited and they were singing. We saw the assisted living. It was older, they had a social area for everybody, they had older decor, and a lot more furniture than what my husband and I are used to. The suite was really appropriate, and something that I would have felt fine moving into, but the others were just too confining (although they were nice). They had different levels of care, that's why we're interested in them.

I've been to St Therese, it's a very nice community, and they have plenty of help. They have a place for assisted living, long-term care, and independent living. They have a chapel, they have a nice eating area for visitors, they serve breakfast, and there's food for visitors after 10:00 a.m. They have ice cream, and it's inexpensive. They have two chapels, a large one and a small one, they have a priest that says mass there, and it's very relaxing and spiritual. They have their own pharmacy and they even sell shoes there.

Everyone at Saint Therese of New Hope was very nice and very helpful. The place itself was older, but they kept it up quite well. However, they don't want to deal with anyone that smokes. They were part of the Catholic Church, so they had a religious atmosphere. The people were very nice. The staff members were all very nice. Evidently, they don't have a problem keeping their facilities full, so they had decided that they don't want anyone who is a smoker to be there.

My grandmother had a fantastic experience at Saint Therese. The aides were kind and courteous, the nursing staff knowledgeable and patient and the community was so fun for her. She enjoyed every minute.

I would never recommend

PT is good My mother was dropped by two staff members on the way to the bathroom. They indicated to her that she was fine and should just go back to bed. She ended up in the hospital with a displaced artificial hip that had to be realigned. The staff is not trained, careless and there was never any accountability for the incident.. There was a constant cry of " we are understaffed" in the brief time my mother was there. I would never send anyone for care here.

Don't ever send your loved one here they don't treat them as human beings. My father is currently in the rehab center after a broken hip he has been left in the cafeteria he was left in his wheelchair in his room and he waited for someone to come help him and no one came so he tried to get into the bed himself and fell he wasn't sure how long he had been laying there. We have frequently gone to see him and he is laying in bed with no pants on. He was yelled at for having an accident in his pants because He had pressed the call button and no one came for over 25 minutes. My sister confronted the. Nurse she said hey we're short staffed no excuse at all. We will be removing him from this facility as soon as he is done with rehab. Horrible place

My in-laws are in the independent living part of Saint Therese of New Hope, and they have a 2-bedroom that was completely renovated before they moved in. They ripped the carpet out, repainted, ripped the kitchen and bathroom out, and everything new was put in. Their room is on the first floor, close to where all the activities, the physical therapy and dinner are held. They have a great view of a golf course out their window. The price is comparable to any other place that we looked at. This is a Catholic community, so it is a good match for them.

My father was at St. Therese for 1 year. I am an R.N., and I feel that it was the best place I could have placed him as nursing homes go. My only issue was that they overfed him. He had to be fed, and he gained 30 pounds in one year. He was 5'8inches, and when he died his waist was 46 ". He had trouble breathing. Even after asking them to cut down, they said it was because he liked to eat. Youn will always get better care for your loved one if you as a family are "present", and are an advocate for them. I would choose St. Therese again.

I visited this facility

We looked at St. Therese. It was an assisted living and also had individual apartments. It was not what I had expected. There were too many foreigners that worked there, and they were difficult to understand because they don't speak English well. Most of their attitudes were good, but you could tell that some of the employees were just there for the paycheck and that they really don't care about the people that they were working with or being around. There were too many searches when it came to having your children and grandchildren visit or spend the night. It was not updated. They seemed to have a lot of power and mechanical problems such as smoke detectors and fire alarms going out for no reason. It smelled. We saw the one bedroom and they were bland. It was not very big. Their dining facility was OK, but their meals -- in my estimation -- were not very healthy. There were not many activities. They had volunteers come in and dosome exercises. They had a small room where they could come in and paint the elderly's finger nails and do their hair, and they had some generic art activities. Otherwise, they really don't have much else. It was not a place that I would want to move in at this point.

Their new location in Brooklyn Park is beautiful. It's OK, but not as inviting. It seemed more cramped.

Not a safe place. Often times one nurse is caring for fifty residents. They only staff appropriately when the health department comes in once a year. Rude management.

Beautiful building very clean. Most of the staff is friendly but there are a few that aren't. The layout can be a bit confusing at first it is easy to get lost. Security desk to sign in seemed to need improvements. Meals aren't top notch but decent.
