Navion of New Bern

My sister was in Navion of New Bern. They didn't keep her as active as they could. They had some activities but didn't get my sister involved. The staff did an inadequate job. I had trouble getting hold of the right person. They were understaffed. My sister's room was adequate, and she has an emergency cord she could pull if there's a problem. The housekeeping wasn't as good as it could be in her room, not terrible, but it could have been improved a bit. They have a very nice courtyard, a room for bingo, and an exercise class.

It was my second visit here. I was greeted by the associate that does the intake interviews, and she was wonderful. I felt so welcome there. She walked me through the facility. The first time we went there, I was like, 'I'm not sure this would be a good match for my mother.' But after yesterday, I decided that this would be great. The little ladies were waiting and happy to go in and have lunch. The place was immaculate. It looked really pretty. It's not an over-the-top facility with chandeliers and big flower arrangements, but it is very, very nice. It's a little bit older and it has a special homey feel that I know my mom's going to like. I loved it very much. I'm happy that I found it, and we're going on Thursday for my mother to check it out. They do not have companion rooms. You have your own private room. Right outside of my mom's room, there's a beautiful patio with lovely spring flowers and plants, and they also had like a small garden with tomatoes growing there and some herbs. Then directly off of that, they had a beautiful room with white wicker furniture and a couple of mourning dove birds that were in there so you could sit and look at them. That enclosed patio thing was really pretty. As for activities, they have the typical bingo. They have entertainment come in like a couple of different people that play guitars and sing, which is great. I saw somebody doing that the first time that I went there. And then they have the movie night. They had a full list of things that they do pretty much every day of the week. They take them to a local farmer's market, which is a lovely idea. They also take whoever wants to go to an area here where they can go fishing. It's like a little safe bridge and they take them fishing. So I thought that was kind of cool, too. I thought the place was beautiful. It's carpeted, which I thought felt so much more welcoming for seniors than this luxury vinyl. It was comfortable. They have a beautiful fireplace sitting area. Everything looked nice, and I felt comfortable there. It was so quiet, which was nice. I recommend them. I think it's a lovely place for other seniors to be able to talk and be together because I can only give my mom so much attention every single day, and I think she needs that one on one with a person her own age.

My brother-in-law moved into here. They were very cooperative, very nice, extended their time, and answered all my questions, and they were very helpful. That's why we chose it. The staff was very helpful, Paula, Michael, and the nurse was Scott, they've been very helpful and my brother-in-law has been there almost a month, almost two months now. The dining area is very nice, it's in a bright area, it's big enough, and it's fine. The facilities were excellent and very clean. They have outings and game nights.

It was very nice. It had very nice facilities and opportunities for the residents to do things. The rooms were clean, good-sized for a single person, and they were very nice. The staff was very helpful, seemed very cognizant of patient care, and keeping the residents happy. There was a bingo game going on in one facility and some gentlemen were playing cards. The menu had some variety to it.
