    I visited this facility

If dad would need a facility, The Cottages would be the one that we will choose for him. It's a secured facility and the rooms were beautiful. The size was great. You bring your own furniture so it will work out perfectly for us with dad. I was really impressed with the fact that they try and gear to each individual residents. With regards to the food they have something special for each if they like something. If the residents have certain activity that they want, they try and make it happen. They are very accommodating.

    I visited this facility

I recently visited The Cottages of Mountain Home while checking out facilities for my father. My first impression of the site was that it was quite elegant. The grounds of the facility are beautifully maintained and the drive-up makes an easy access for picking up a resident for an outing. The common areas inside are decorated in a sophisticated style, the colors used add to the elegant feel. The addition of a "family room", with a piano as well as a hair styling station, was spacious and available for not only the resident who wanted to have an additional area to sit and read, but also for family events/celebrations (birthday, anniversary, get-together). The residents' rooms that I observed were roomy and set up very comfortably. Use of the resident's own furniture appeared to be encouraged, which was a plus for me. The staff and management of the facility appeared very helpful and friendly. The amount of time spent visiting the facility did not afford me the opportunity to witness extensive contact between the staff and residents. However, information I received from a friend whose grandfather was a resident, indicated there was a real sense of family and camaraderie among staff and residents during his stay. While I was there, I noticed that one of the residents was "working" in the kitchen, fussing a bit with a flower arrangement, and it gave me a sense that she had taken ownership of the facility "“ like this was her home, and not just some place she was visiting. She appeared quite comfortable in her setting. I was given a calendar of upcoming events with the brochure from the facility. I was immediately impressed by the variety of opportunities for the residents to participate in various outings "“ some local in the community, and others a little more of a day trip. For an active resident, like my father would be, this was a definite plus. I also noticed that they offer Skype conferencing that they will set up for the resident with family members who don't reside locally. For those who have limited resources, they do have a requirement for 12-18 months of private pay before accepting Medicaid. In addition, they do offer the opportunity to reserve a room with a fully refundable deposit. My bottom line assessment of The Cottages is very positive, perhaps more so for a person considering a facility for someone who is still very social and enjoys opportunities for outings. I would rank this facility as a five-star facility.
