Great facility. Wonderful staff. If your loved one has dementia or Alzheimer’s, I would highly recommend you ask to speak with others residents’ family members RE: potential cost increases before signing the contract. They can be significant after move-in.

Aegis Living Moraga was nice, clean, and homey. The staff member who accommodated me was very helpful and she also followed up. The also have amenities.

I stayed at this facility for about 45 days so I wasn't a permanent resident. I must admit that I can't compare it to others but it was my first experience living in this type of facility. I was there recovering from a heart attack/stroke. Basically, I couldn't wait to get out and move back into my own home. Their pricing system is bad and many residents complained about the high cost and unexpected additions each month. Their food wasn't too bad, but residents soon got tired of the bland foods. There were many "unexpected" additional charges that added up each month. There were some activities provided but they were very limited. Staff was friendly, but I had a sense that they were new and probably wouldn't be staying long. The lobby was useless, it would have been more useful if residents how several different areas to socialize or just relax. Finally, I wasn't impressed with their safety and fire escape system. There was only one elevator and several times in the evening the fire alarm went off and staff had no idea what to do. There are steep stairs down to the lobby but it would be difficult for many of the residents to use, especially during a fire. Overall, I would proceed with caution and careful consideration.

Aegis was a nice community. They offered comfortable services, but it just they didn’t appeal to me as much. A lot of those impressions have to do with first impressions. When you walk in, you see a bunch of people sitting around even, though I understand that’s the nature of the community. It’s not a match for mom. Their accommodations were very nice but we didn’t like them for mom because she didn’t like dark rooms and all they have available were rooms that were a little too dark. There’s nothing wrong with it. The people were all great, it’s clean, and inviting.

STAY A-WAY<<<<<<< My dad has been at Aegis for the last couple of years and this year we moved him to another ALF for the following reasons. 1) We kept getting charged for services that were not needed or provided and management refused to adjust the bill. 2) There “points” system is VERY confusing. 3) Though management has been in place for many years there is a HIGH turnover for those staff that actually care for your loved one. 4) They charge a $10,000 deposit, which is the highest in the Bay Area for any ALF’s. 5) Aegis monthly rent is also sustainably higher then other ALF but our experience was that they do offer anything other ALF offer and the services that are different did not make up for the above issues. In summery I was willing to pay $$$ because I was told Aegis was the best (this mostly from the placement agency….go figure) but we slowly learned that was simply not the case and I could get similar if not better service elsewhere for much less money.

Aegis of Moraga was chosen by my son for us. The rooms are very nice. They go all out when they have events, renting tables and chairs. If anyone is bored here, it’s not the fault of the agency; it’s the fault of the individual. The staff is very good, management keeps on top of them, and if changes need to be made, they don’t hesitate to do what is best for the clientele. If I have to be somewhere I would say this is a very nice place to be; the weather is nice and it is beautiful setting. There are complaints but nothing of anything major. They work very hard, the interior and the gardens are beautiful, and Moraga California is a very lovely town.
