Amazing staff & facility . The transition for my Mother in law to the facility , from her home was so easy ! Ida , Kennedy , Elisabeth were beyond helpful , and the therapy department stepped rite in and started services quickly upon move in. I would highly recommend this facility for any Assisted Living needs ! It is a warm , caring environment that makes such a hard transition , feel seamless THANK YOU to the entire staff for being so nice !

My mother stayed at The Chelsea at Forsgate for respite care. It was for rehabilitation for an injury. They were great. They were friendly, helpful, just super accessible, and very good to her. She had her meals there, and it was OK, nothing spectacular. What we saw was right in the middle of COVID, so everything was shut down, not even the dining room was open because they were too afraid of passing anything on. She really didn't get to use much of the facility because of COVID. Everything was individual, so she had her physical therapy, but everything was one-on-one. She had nothing in a group setting and no other activities that you could be involved with more than one person. They were fantastic with her and they got her right back up on her feet and they did a great job with her. I would recommend it again and again. The value for the money was very good. We compared a lot of places and they were willing to work with your budget. They were very good. All around, they were our top choice.

The Chelsea at Forsgate has good nursing services. They have quite a few nurses on staff, and we liked their friendliness, cleanliness, and pricing. One of the most important reasons why we're choosing this place for my mom was when her money runs out, I didn't want to move her to a shared room. I wanted her to be able to stay in her own room; they said that if we pay the difference from what Medicaid pays, they could accommodate that. The rooms are excellent, clean, and a nice size. It comes with a little kitchenette, a big bathroom where they have a walk-in shower, and linen services. It has everything that she would need. It was very nice. The dining area was nice too. It's big and wide open. I didn't taste the food, but I met with the chef. Mom actually liked him because she used to be a terrific cook. They spoke and the menu was very extensive. It's nice with different things, and it's a steady menu that they have every day (which she looked at, and she liked). It's good. They have bingo, shows, exercise classes, bowling, and amenities galore that keep them busy.

My mother just got into The Chelsea at Forsgate the other day. I knew about it. It was kind of close -- in between my brother and me -- and it's in a decent area, so I went and looked at it. I was impressed with the facility. It looked modern, up to date, and clean. They gave me a tour of the room. This will be her third day there. She seemed to be pretty happy, and she said the food is good, too. They've quarantined her for now until she gets set up in her permanent room. She will share her room with another individual. Maybe they have other rooms there depending on the level you're qualified for, but I looked at a room that looked comfortable enough for her and another person. They have a cafeteria; it's not open yet, but they'll open that up again. They have an area for TV, a dining area, a little table where you can meet up and hang out for your visit. They have a walk-in shower in the room.

The Chelsea at Forsgate was very nice. It was meal time when we went there, there's a lobby outside of the dining room and the residents were all over the place, like the holding room. My husband, brother and I had an awful feeling. It was almost like they were being corralled. It really turned us off. Not only that, everybody was exposed to everybody in that small crowded space. A lot of them were in wheelchairs and walkers and there were all kinds of crowds. We all got a terrible feeling. Actually one of the residents said, "don't do it, you don't want to come here". It was very uncomfortable to see them in that environment. It almost felt like they were moving animals like it was feeding time; it almost felt inhumane to me. I didn't like that feeling at all. The dining room was empty, so I don't know why they didn't just take them in and feed them where they're sitting or let them at least sit and be comfortable. That bothered us. It was a very uncomfortable feeling. The place itself was nice. We actually know someone that has their mother there and they're very happy with it, but we were turned off by that. The rooms were very nice. They had a happy hour going on in the lobby and that lobby was actually very small. There were people that were trying to get in, but there was no place for them.

My mother is living at The Chelsea and we love it. The staff is fantastic and responsive. My mother is adjusting and it makes life better for all of us. You have to remember that it takes time for them to adjust.

I visited The Chelsea at Forsgate with mom. They were very nice people, and they said that they would take her if I wanted respite care for 2 weeks. If I wanted to go away without mom, they would take her. The other places if you wanted to go away, you would have to put your mom in for a month, but they would take her for 2 weeks. I looked at the cost, and by the time I would be done with the care that she would need, it would run about $8,000 and that’s the way it would be with all of them. It was a very nice place, and I can’t say anything otherwise, but my mom now goes to adult day care during the day. I’m sure if she went there, she’d be very happy.

I am/was a resident of this facility

For the time being, I’m living at the Chelsea. I’m not staying there though; it’s just a temporary situation. I don’t like it because they’re always short-staffed, and they charge you for every single little thing. I had three occasions where I couldn’t breathe, and I rung for the aide, and there was no aide to come. I had to call 911 myself, so the care there is not what they claim it is for what they’re charging anyway. I wouldn’t put my mother in there. The rooms are very small; there are two people in a room, and it depends what you get for a roommate. They don’t match the people up the way they should. The activities are very limited. They fired the bus driver, so for a whole month they said they had no bus driver so they didn’t go anywhere. The dining room could be cleaner. They need to improve. It’s the management that I don’t like.

My mother is in The Chelsea at Forsgate. She likes it. The staff is absolutely patient and caring. She has a little, clean room. The food is good, and they have recreational activities for people to do if they want to participate.

The Chelsea is a very active community and very busy. They do have a ton of activities for the residents to get involved in. The activity director keeps them very much engaged in different things. The rooms were nice, but average.
