Reviews of The Bridges at Mission - Traditional and Alzheimer's Care

I visited this facility
I visited The Bridges at Mission. I guess I was not really pleased with it, which was why we did not move forward there. The rooms did not have showers in them. It was just one shared shower and everybody had to use it. I thought there should be a shower in the rooms. However, everybody seemed very nice there. All in all, I thought it was probably a good place for somebody that needed a lot more help.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
When I could no longer care for my husband I was fortunate to find The Bridges. They provided the dignity and caring that many other facilities lack. I couldn't have asked for better care for him.

I am a friend or relative of a resident
Recently, a close friend of mine, Diego, suffered a stroke which left him incapacitated. Being of an advanced age and with diminished mental capacity, his family interned him at The Bridges Alzheimer's Assisted Living at 1201 St. Claire Blvd. Mission, Texas 78572. This past weekend I went to visit Diego at the Bridges and I have to say that I was extremely impressed. When you drive up to the facility the first thing you notice are the expansive, well manicured grounds. Bougainvilleas line the sidewalk and the fact that they are in full bloom makes it seem as if you are in the Garden of Eden. Upon entering the facility, I was pleasantly surprised that I didn't get that familiar hospital smell you normally get at other nursing homes. There was a very nice floral smell throughout and there was a stately appearance. The decor was all cherry wood furniture. When I arrived at Diego's room, the first thing I notice was the large ceiling to floor window overlooking a beautiful garden. The room was also furnished with cherry wood decor and there was even a desk. I also noticed that these are private rooms complete with shower and bath. Diego's daughter was leaving but we chatted for a few moments and she explained that The Bridges was their first choice because it offers an array of recreational activities such as shuffle board, dance night, and so forth. The care is also individualized assigning one registered nurse per two patients which is unheard of at other places that I have visited. Finally, what impressed me the most is that The Bridges offers support therapy for the family members of its residents. I would recommend The Bridges to anyone who has a family member that needs to be in an assisted living facility.
