Jones-Harrison Senior Living is huge. I toured it for my sister. The building itself is almost two blocks long. It's got everything in it. I thought they might have a swimming pool in there, but they didn't. But the memory care unit is really small, which was the reason I looked at it. It was almost too small, though, and felt cramped and tiny. The rooms were tiny, and the community room was tiny. I also only saw one staff person who was playing bingo with three people. I didn't get a chance to do much observation. I ended up not wanting to pursue it because I wasn't able to learn enough on that tour to make me feel confident. This is a very old building, but it was clean. I only got to know the salesperson giving the tour preview and I didn't meet anyone else. The community room was not great. The furniture was worn out and the TV was tiny.

I was a patient at Jones Harrison last March, after having a second Spinal Fusion. I had been there three years before, for the same reason and it was 5* in every area. This time I had a completely different experience. Young nurses who wanted to be your buddies, only to talk trash about you with other staff members, which I could unfortunately hear. A nurse's aide who deliberately kept me awake at night. I will never know why. I felt I had a target on my back and spent much of my 16 days there crying. The food was inedible-nurses agreed. With that being said, the physical and occupational therapy was outstanding, and I would be remiss if I left out one or two nurses who were professional, followed through, and were beyond kind. So, go there for terrific therapy, but be prepared to lose weight, sleep in your urine, and just put your self-esteem and self-worth on a shelf. Pick it up when you leave and don't look back. Oh, and the rooms are lovely. Just make sure you sign no papers while under the influence of narcotics. You will be sorry.

My mother is in Jones Harrison Residence. The experience is mixed, the nursing staff is very good, and the facility is nice, but some of the staff is not very good. The room is institutional, and the maintenance is good. They can improve on lower level staff and the food.

My friend is in a nursing home now. She is at Jones Harrison. They have courtyard visits. Right now I cannot see her, but I was for a while. She was in the rehab/physical therapy type thing because she had surgery. She may be moving into long-term care now. It's excellent. She has gotten excellent care. The staff have been wonderful to her. They have been very helpful when I call them. They have been very good. The staff seem to be fine. Everybody has been very responsive to my questions, but I haven't been inside to be able to interact with their staff. They gave me all their phone numbers right off the bat. They sent me an email with all of their names, phone numbers, etc., so that was very nice.

I’ve toured Jones Harrison Residence and left with a little bit of concern. I came with my friend, who continued the tour and I didn’t, so I was waiting by the dining room and some people were coming with their walkers and wanted to go in the dining room. What I understood was that they didn’t turn the lights on until 5:30, so people had to wait before they could go in. I was annoyed. I felt that if you wanted to go in and sit down, you should be able to; you shouldn’t have to wait. I didn’t really like the views. If you look out of your apartment, you are looking on parking lots; nothing very beautiful. There is only one unit facing east, which is probably the nicest way to be facing as the sun comes up.

I visited Jones Harrison for my mom for assisted living. It’s in an attractive setting that feels elegant and welcoming. The rooms are very attractive, and the people who lived there are active, friendly, and engaged with each other. It seemed like a place I could see my mom going to and be happy. Jones Harrison overlooks Cedar Lake, which is a beautiful lake in Minneapolis.

Jones Harrison Residential Assisted Living is a huge facility, which I had chosen some years back when we went to visit someone there. But now, it is aging. It has maybe five dementia care neighborhood. If you go there, you don't have to leave to go to the doctor. There is a doctor, physical therapy, and everything else right in that building.

My mother was a resident in the assisted living, rehabilitation and ultimately, a memory care unit at this faciility. Some of the staff were extremely kind, knowledgeable and competent caregivers. Some were atrocious. Communication with my sisters and I was awful. We were rarely notified of medication changes (including psychotropics), falls or significant changes in condition. Some of the licensed staff were actually arrogant and itimidating. It really frightens me that this was one of the "best" facilities in the area.
