I visited this facility

We toured Wilson Commons. They have a variety of options available for independent living as well as assisted living. They have units that are detached from the large building and more like ranch homes. The meals were optional, and you sign up when you wanted to go or just go when you wanted to go. It was a separate restaurant-type thing. They have a very roomy lobby with a nice layout. I saw the activities room. They also had gardens behind where people could still go and garden if they wanted to. All the apartments had balconies, which was very nice. It was very small, but still something. They also have parking options. You could choose to go to the indoor park for part of the year or park outside right in the middle of it. You could park out there during the warm weather if you wanted to. I think the rooms were a little bit smaller there than the other ones I saw in the other communities, especially the living room, but the bedrooms were good in the main building. The woman who gave us the tour was excellent. She showed us a couple of layouts, as well as the detached apartments. She gave us all the information on signing up and depositing to get on a waiting list. She also introduced us to people that were there. The people were welcoming. It seemed very nice. The building looked well-kept; the hallways were clean with a nice layout. Each hall had a sitting area, like an extra living room where you could sit with visitors. There's a coffee shop at the main entrance that some of the residents take care of. It was nice and very inviting.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I lived at Wilson Commons for several years and I can say from experience that it’s a terrible place for senior citizens. In my case, my furnace/air conditioner stopped working and it took three months to analyze what was wrong (it had to be replaced). When it was replaced, it still didn’t work because the installers didn’t turn the electricity on. In another case, the kitchen faucet handle had to be replaced and after a week, I had to call the corporate office and, finally, someone came to look at it. I went to Home Depot and found two handles that looked like the one needing replacement. I would have bought it myself, but I didn’t know which one to buy. In another event, a tenant accidently over flowed his kitchen sink. I called the office asking for some help to mop up the water pooled on the kitchen floor. One of the manager, Kaitland, took a look at the overflow and said I had to deal with it myself. I ended up using a dish towel to sop up the water, then ring out the towel, and sop up some more until I removed most of the water. A ‘Tenant Satisfaction Survey’ is given to all the tenants every year with a promise to share the results. Apparently, it turned out so bad that the only thing reported was that the stairwells would be vacuumed twice per month. If you submit a complaint, it will be held against you and if the managers feel you’ve submitted to many complaints, you’ll be asked to leave or be evicted. Now I see that Wilson Commons raised their rent again to $2630/month. It’s definitely not worth it. If senior citizens, or their families are looking for an apartment to house their loved ones, I strongly encourage them to look somewhere else.

If an elderly individual needs to move to an apartment, Wilson Commons is the last place to go. The staff is very unfriendly, the food, if you choose to buy it, is terrible, and if you need any maintenance in your apartment, you’ll have to wait at least a week to get it, if the office even bothers to accept your maintenance request. I should know…I lived at Wilson Commons for several years and found it to be one of the worst places for a senior citizen to go. If your heat/airconditioning fails, it will take up to three months to either make repairs or replace the unit. The catalytic converters are stolen from cars and even though the facility has multiple cameras, the managers will tell you they’re to busy to look at them. I can’t caution you enough to look somewhere else.

I will be moving into Wilson Commons. What I liked about it was that they had elevators. There was a common area with nice couches and chairs where you could sit and talk with people. On the first floor, there's another little conversation area that also has a television and a beautiful fish tank. It has a large dining room type of thing, but it's not just your dining room. On Thursday, they have card games in there most of the day. They do have free rides if you sign up to pick and save. They have exercise equipment and a small library. The apartments are nice. They're not huge, but you do have your kitchen, bathroom, dining, living room, and bedroom. That's the one-bedroom, which is what I got. But they also have bigger one-bedrooms that have a dishwasher. They have two bedrooms as well. The staff was very knowledgeable and showed me everything. The food was awesome.

I will be moving into Wilson Commons. It was on the south side. It was a lot cheaper. I just interacted with the nurse who did the assessment on me. They will be checking on me, giving me my medication, and making sure I'm alright. They had one and two bedrooms. I chose the one-bedroom. The amenities included a controlled entry, heating or air conditioning, electricity, water, three balanced and nutritious meals daily, emergency call system in each department, and 24 hours staff available for emergencies. They have on-site services, free transportation to areas for shopping or events, and a full calendar of social recreation and cultural activities. They have a full-service salon, chapel, library, and lively, comfortable common areas.

I am very happy at the Chopin. Have a lovely 2 bedroom apt. Very spacious and nice and light and bright. It overlooks the Wilson Park, so I can take daily walks if I choose to. Staff has always been helpful and courteous. If I need repairs, they are attended to in a timely manner. So nice not to worry about house maintenance anymore. Weekly activities are available, if you choose to be social. Meets mu needs, perfectly.

Wilson Commons was very nice. The rooms were nice and the residents were very welcoming. They treated us to lunch and my mom was very happy with the food. It's a smaller campus and the building looked manageable size wise. They have a really nice yard area where they can go outside, watch the birds, get some fresh air, and be somewhat protected from the winds and such. It was really nice there. The woman during the tour was very good. The food was very good for what it is.

Wilson Commons was a great big and beautiful place. It was lovely, wonderful, had all the amenities, was clean, nice, and the people were great. The residents seemed happy and had a lot of attention from the staff. There was nothing you had to even go outside the building for. They even have a bank in there. The staff was wonderful, attentive, and answered all our questions. They have special programs where you can go and listen to what is going on. The rooms were beautiful and there were many different options. They have different kinds of 2-bedrooms and even small houses on the property, which were very nice. I was just very impressed with it.

I was in Wilson Commons for a week. It was a very nice place, but the rental was high for me. I'm living in a 2-bedroom, and the accommodations are nice. The people are very friendly. I can get dinner if I want in the assisted living area. I would recommend them.

Wilson Commons (The Polonaise at Wilson Commons) had rooms, apartments, and underground parking. Most of the units had a balcony or a terrace. They had physical therapy, a podiatrist, and a nurse on call.

I definitely do not recommend anyone to live in the Ranch Homes at Wilson Commons. I lived there less than a year and it was horrible. Maintenance never fixed anything, staff and management we're rude and not attentive with the residence needs, and they also have mice problems. Never lived in such a dump and never been treated so disrespectful by staff before. Again i DO NOT recommend this place of living.

Provider Response

Our maintenance team has a system for recording and responding to maintenance requests; because we respect the privacy of all residents and families who reside at our Ranch Homes, we do not discuss personal situations in a public format. My mom is in Wilson Commons. We chose it because my mom already knows people who live there. Everything seems great. The room is very good. It is freshly painted and repaired before she moves in. They have lots of activities. I will definitely recommend it to others. I like that they have a very helpful and dedicated staff.

Wilson Commons impressed me, but they had a waiting list. They were very nice, but I thought they were expensive. The rooms and the dining room were very nice. It was nice, but it just seemed like it was awfully expensive. They had a room place like a hotel on the fourth floor, and I wasn’t really happy about that. The staff was very nice, and I believe they have activities.
