I visited this facility

I went to Rockwell Retirement Center. It wasn't a good fit for my mother. It was too large. She would have to go down an elevator to get to the activity room or the dining room and she wouldn't have done that. The rooms were nice and big, and there were lots of closet space and stuff, but it was just too expansive for her. It wasn't a good fit. They have a pool table, but there weren't any activities at the time. I spoke to the receptionist and the director of nursing, and that's all I spoke with. They were very nice. It was well maintained and very clean. I saw the activities area and that was a good size.

Rockwell Retirement Center seems to be laid out OK and fairly clean, but the lady that gave the tour didn't seem all that well prepared. She didn't have any information to give us on our exit nor any card or any kind of identification to leave us, but she seemed to know the people there. She walked by different people and mentioned them by name. So, that was nice. The one apartment she showed me was kind of small. The other one was bigger. It looked OK too and it was just remodeled. They had bingo and other games for people. Then they had a pool table and a big cafeteria. The girl that let us in and the guy outside were very, very friendly and helpful.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We have chosen Rockwell Retirement Center for my father. We are going to move him sometime this month. I was happy with it. I had a good impression of the staff. The apartment we got for my father was adequate sized for him, and I think it will be good for him. Right now, they have no shared activities. With Covid, they're limiting activities with any other people. As far as visit, we are allowed to go in and take him out of there to go on trips to go away from there, but you can't go in and visit. You also can drop certain things for him. My aunt has lived there for years, and I have a cousin who has also lived there, and I've never heard of any issues with them. However, I didn't get to see all their stuff because of Covid. It was an old high school that had been refurbished back in the late 1980s, so it is quite a huge building. They can get out for exercise and walk through the hallways, and I saw several residents doing that while I was taking my tour. I didn't see any problems with cleanliness.

I visited this facility

Rockwell Retirement Center had an activity room, but the staff was not as friendly as they were at the other places. The facility was rather rundown because it's an old school that they converted into an assisted living. It wasn't a very cheerful place. It almost reminded me of low-income housing. The few staff members that we met were not the most cheerful. Nothing about it was appealing to my father especially. It wasn't kept very well.

I visited this facility

I visited Rockwell Retirement Center. It was my old high school back when I was a kid before they built a new one way back in 1954. The place was nice, and everything was spiffy inside. It's just way out of my price range. The rooms were nice and small, which is good for me because I only have a few pieces of furniture. They didn't have a pool or a gym, but they had a library, bingo, and field trips. You have to have a number to punch in to get in the door, and they like you to sign when you vsit, so they'd know if you're in or out, in case something happens, which is nice.

I visited this facility

Rockwell Retirement Center is a wonderful place. Their dining room is immaculate. They have people that will help you. I need a wheelchair and they bring it down so I can eat and they bring it down to my car. The rooms are not the most beautiful. You have to bring your own furniture and drapery. They're all old school rooms, which have been made into rooms for you to live in. They have loads of activities and they have a wonderful activity room. The library is absolutely perfect. They have an exercise room, and they do light therapy for you. It meets my standards. They have air-conditioning and heat in all the rooms. They have an emergency light system and an escape route in case of a fire.

I visited this facility

The rooms at Rockwell Retirement were very far apart and there did not seem to be much assistance given to the residents. My friend's father was there, and he managed to leave the building from one of the back exits, then could not get back in.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Numerous times I witness residents being made to wait for meals and picks up from dinning area. Many of them, including my friend needed to use the facilities and needed assistants due to the fact of being wheel chaired bound. Employees were found just sitting around on their phones. If that's the way they act when a resident needs assistants back to their rooms, I can only imagine what it's like when they use their call bells at night.

My father is in Rockwell Retirement Center. The rooms are beautiful. It is an old school house, which they redid. The rooms are in very good size. The staff is very much accommodating. My father does not go down for activities. He is on ten liters of oxygen, and he just cannot do it, but they offer a lot of activities. He likes the food. The dining area is very nice. I recommend them. Rockwell is the best: 100%.
