I visited this facility

I went to Milford Place. We had an appointment, and the cook came out and brought us dessert and water. He made some cake with fresh strawberries on top, so we ate that. It was very clean and the staff was very nice. They were very hospitable. It's a very nice, homey atmosphere. The staff intermingled with the clients. The clients liked being there. They have a salon. They have housekeeping. They do their laundry once a week. They have someone to clean your room. They have staff to help them in the morning to get dressed if they need help. The staff was wonderful.

We visited the memory care unit of Milford Place. It was fantastic. The unit was clean. It looked like the clients there were well taken care of. It was the daytime and they had adequate staffing to assist them with their lunch because some of them were one-on-one care when it came to eating. The staff was excellent. The rooms were adequate, very pretty, and clean. I was just very impressed with the rooms. They were private rooms for all the clients. It's almost like home. The layout was very pleasant. They had an open garden courtyard that they could go to any time, and it was well protected by four walls that the clients could not walk away from. There was also another garden that the family members could take their loved ones out to, but they would always be with a staff member or a family member if they were in that particular area. The door to that garden was locked at all times, so they could not get out on their own. They had free access to go to the courtyard. The hallways were wide and accessible. It was a nice place. I had desserts from the community. I met with the chef, and he explained the meals to me and explained how they would assess my husband for any special needs, and what they would do if they would meet his special needs and how they do that. I was very pleased with that, too. They had a dining area. There's a table set up for them that two to four people could sit at. It was almost like a cafe-type setting. If they made friends, then they could have the availability to sit with their friends and just chitchat while they ate. Staff members were floating around at all times while they were in there eating. They have some memory activities where they were playing games and trying to engage them like flipping cards and finding the same card all the time. They have a tool bench for guys that like to do tools and work with things. The courtyard also has a garden in it where they can grow flowers, vegetables, or whatever during the season. They keep them active as long as they can. They don't force it on them, though. Some were just sitting there watching TV because they didn't want to do anything that day.

Milford Place was clean and friendly. It was full of life. It was a happy atmosphere. Everybody was catering to everyone else. It was almost like a perfect setting. I was looking for maximum care, and they didn't offer exactly what my grandmother needed. They're more for assisted living, not for what I was looking for. It's more of a level 1, 2, and 3, and my grandmother is more a level 5 and 6. She always needs help and it's not a good fit for her, but I was immensely impressed with the establishment. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, well-mannered, and happy. The dining area was exquisitely clean, well kept, put together, and very fancy. They gave us scones with fruit and my husband said they were pretty good. The chef personally came and spoke to us, and they seemed to cater to anyone's special needs, diets, or likes or dislikes. There are plenty of activities. They were excellent people and it was an excellent establishment. I would give it to anybody who's looking for assisted living for their seniors and loved ones. It's a way for them to live independently and live free and still have the care that they need. Their facilities were excellent. The apartments were easy to maneuver through with wheelchairs, they were flat, there were no steps to get into, and they were very spacious.

I visited this facility

Based on our visit of the Milford Place, it would have been a perfect place for my father to live in. The environment was nice, and the people were friendly. Everything looked clean and neat. The place looked like they gave a lot of support. They showed me the 2-bedroom when we toured, and it was very convenient. It had an easy lay-out and plenty of room. They had a recreational room where they have a TV, and people were able to mingle with masks and watch the tv program. There was a group that did artwork. They actually gave me a treat. It was really nice, and it was super good.

Milford Place didn't suit us. We're a little more active than what we saw. There were many people in wheelchairs. The one-bedroom looked like a motel room. There was no stove, just a mini refrigerator. They had a bus that would take you places two days a week only. The staff was very friendly and very nice. The place was clean and it had no smell to it. Everything seemed okay except for the rooms. It's nice if you need a nursing home. It was very clean and quiet.
