What I liked best about Brookdale Midland was the caring people, the way that they talked to me, and the way they showed their care. The place was clean. I liked the way the staff presented themselves. They offered everything. They had a salon and a rehabilitation room. They would provide your meals and social programs where they take the residents on trips and stuff like that.

I love my tour of Brookdale Midland. The only problem that I had with them was that the community room was fairly small, and I'm in an electric wheelchair, and I'm always afraid I'm going to bang into somebody or something. The private rooms were bigger than the other place I saw, so they're OK. I just wish the common areas were larger. The couple of staff members that I spoke to in the office were very kind people. I liked the menus, I saw the residents playing cards, they had a beauty shop and a sauna. I liked the fact that the rooms have a small kitchen sink. They also have transportation services for the residents to go on outings, concerts, restaurants, baseball games, and so on.

I toured Brookdale Midland (MI). It's a small facility. The nursing director was very cordial, and the recruiting lady I talked to was very nice. They didn't have a room for my mom in assisted living. They wanted her in the memory care, and then they would move her over. And with my mom's dementia, I don't want her moving twice. So that kind of deterred me from going there. But that was one of the higher ones on my list. The rooms were small, but they seemed like a nice facility. The dining area was centrally located. They had music, bingo, crafts, storytelling, and dogs coming in.

The hallways at Brookdale Midland were smaller than what my dad was looking for. It was a nice facility, but he uses a walker. He needed wider hallways. The room had a very small refrigerator. They had classified him as memory care when they went and assessed him, so all I saw was the memory care. I didn't see the assisted living. He has some early age dementia, but he's very independent still. He can do a lot of things for himself. The staff during the tour was nice, but she was new and didn't have the experience. I asked a question, and she started hesitating. The director of the place (who was walking by) jumped right in and started talking with me. I saw some sitting aerobics going on. There were people playing cards. They had a lot of stuff going on. They had a thing on the wall that showed the daily activities that were available for folks to attend. They had a courtyard.

We went to look at Brookdale Midland. I liked the setup of the room and shower. The staff members were friendly and were able to answer all our questions. The rooms were adequate. We talked to the people there, and they all agreed that the food was very, very good. The dining area was wide, open, well-lit, and clean. The facility was very welcoming and clean. It was not at all institution-like. It's more hotel-like.

My mom has moved into Brookdale Midland. We have chosen this one because when we walked in, it was peaceful, it was quiet, and there were not a lot of people moaning, groaning, and yelling. It was just a nice, quiet atmosphere. The staff is good. My mom likes the meals, and they're really good. Right now, they don't have her in any activities because she can't stand up.
