Beware! Since Brookdale has taken over, this facility has declined. They fired many of the great people they had when it was Emeritus and they raised the poor residents' rents. Some staff members are really caring and good with the residents while others are just bossy and do not demonstrate caring attitudes towards the residents. What was once a respected, well run facility has turned into a sad state of affairs under this new leadership (or lack of it, unfortunately.

praying for my relative

I have a relative there. 2 years in a one bedroom assisted living. Well staffed when it was Emeritus. Now that Brookdale took over, care is down the toilet. Not enough staff. No director. Safety is becoming a concern. I am trying to move my relative out as soon as possible. Brookdale ads on TV make me laugh and cry all at the same time. Too much staff turnover. It's sad when these big corporations who we entrust to take care of our loved ones, want to warehouse these seniors and drain all the money out. Buyer beware. Why can't Brookdale corp get this place in shape? This is a big company. Move some employees from other places to train new ones, and pay your staff what they deserve. 90 some residents are depending on some help. Next step is to call the state in.

Just Appalled

When my friends moved in three years ago we all thought that Camelot, nka Brookdale, was a great place for them. They were in their mid 80's.. As long as you are healthy and can pretty much take care of yourself, this is great place to live. Heaven forbid if your memory declines or maybe you might sleepwalk in the night. Be prepared to be kicked out on your ear or moved to a lockdown unit because now you are a risk for wandering and they won't take care of you anymore. They will however take care of you if you are totally unable to care for yourself, can't express yourself, can't feed yourself, I can only imagine what kind of care you would receive. They don't pay their aides enough to keep enough staff on hand. The Executive Director and Head of Nursing were fired before the Holidays and as of the New Year the Marketing Director was running the show. They let their evening staff sit around and watch TV and only do something if someone presses their emergency button. You make up your own mind, but I know I will never recommend Brookdale North.

Emeritus at Camelot is a big place. It has a lot of clients living there, and from what I could see from my brief visit, it was a very nice place. The staff people that I came in contact with were professional, and I had no problem with them. They gave me a menu to take home, and it looks like you can get anything you want. It looked like a good place, and I am satisfied with it. I would recommend it to others, and when I am ready to go, this is the place where I am going.

We choose Emeritus at Camelot because it is close to where my dad's condo is, so he is very familiar with the neighborhood and it is easy for his neighbors to visit him. We also like the general surrounding. My dad's accommodation is very nice. He has a one-bedroom apartment with a kitchenette and a balcony. The staff seems very good and nice. I eat there, the food is good and my dad likes the food. My dad participates in the activities. He likes to go on bus tours once a week. They also go out to lunch a couple of times a month. He does share exercises three times a week. They have a pet visitation program and he likes when the dogs visit. They also have some kind of music groups which they bring in once in a while and he enjoys that. However, sometimes the communication is a bit of a challenge. It is not terrible, but sometimes it's hard to get a hold on them because I live in a different state, so I have to communicate either by telephone or email.

My husband and I love Emeritus at Camelot Assisted Living. Presently, his Aunt and Father both live in their assisted living apartments. They both are doing great, love the activities and staff and feel very much at home there. We visit every couple of days and have had many opportunities to observe the operations. All of the administrative people, the nurses, and the direct care staff are WONDERFUL, caring, and sensitive to the needs of our relatives. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for an assisted living environment for their loved one.

Emeritus at Camelot Place was impeccably clean and very nice. The lady who gave me the tour was terrific. She had all the information I could possibly ask for. She was fairly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the place. They do regular activities for the seniors. They had two big pool room for the residents, an exercise and therapy room, and they take the residents on outings almost every day.

My mom recently passed away at Camelot after living there for three years. No one called or wrote to send their condolences. On the night my mom died, as I was leaving from my visit ,I stopped in at the nurse's station, It was about 7 p.m. The one nurse on staff responded to me in a rude manner to my request that they give her the antibiotics that I dropped off 20 minutes earlier mom died several hours later
