I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents are currently at Aster Assisted Living of Marshfield, but I'm not happy with the care at all. They don't have adequate help and some of the staff that they have do not treat the elderly well. I've met some staff that I wouldn't give a dime for, but there are a couple of them that are excellent workers. Their room is like an apartment and that is very nice. They keep going through different chefs all the time, so the food varies. A lot of times, their food will be cold and it's not served on time. Sometimes it's good, but a good amount of times it's not. And they hardly get enough food to eat. They charge a lot for the services that they don't give. They have a lot of things going on, like bingo. They have some bands that come in and play for the elderly.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother in law is living at this facility. And some of the employees are great. The rooms are nice and spacious . The food is adequate and snacks available. But the main thing that made me rate this as a 3 star is the smell of the building. The main entry smells usually like dinner is cooking, which is fine. But the hallways continually smell like plug in air fresheners/ urine/ and bad diapers. It is a smell that sticks in your nose long after leaving the building. My MILs room doesn't smell unless we leave her door open and then it lingers in. Absolutely nauseating and I hold my breath as we enter the hallways. employees need to remove the room garbage more often to keep the smell from occurring. The plug in air fresheners are a mask to cover up the odors, but only makes it worse. I hope if management reads this they will get this fixed because I absolutely dread going to visit . I go to my mothers assisted living home and there is NO smell at all. it is the same size as Aster but you would never know you were in an elderly living building. Their garbage is removed twice a day at least. And no air fresheners in the hallway needed!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

She's not happy with the food at Aster Assisted Living of Marshfield. She's got two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. They have a dining area downstairs, it looks like a dining room, and it looks nice. They have two separate ones so they can keep people separated a little bit. In terms of value for the money, it's very expensive.

I visited this facility

Let me start by saying, do your research before putting a loved on in this facility. Upper management and owership is totally incapable of running this facility. That don't care about the residents all that want is their money. After touring the facility that was quickly learned after overhearing the way management talks about residents and employees. Learned that turnover in this facility is aweful. Once again is is all about the dollar to these people. No compassion for anyone. Talk to the residents and learn the real truth, not what management wants you to hear. If I could give them no stars, I would. Absolutely a horrible place.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Mom and Dad sold their house and moved into Aster two months ago. My family expected this to be a difficult transition for them, but I have not seen them this happy and content in years! I visited recently and am so glad I did. The home is very clean, warm, homey, and beautifully decorated for Christmas. The staff is friendly and outgoing on their efforts to ensure that both residents and visitors are comfortable and have their needs met. Both of my parents have dietary restrictions that made shopping and meal prep a burden, and they absolutely rave about the meals provided for them. Mom and Dad have settled into their apartment, which is decorated and kept immaculate, just like their homes over the past almost 60 years together. A staff member checks on them each evening, giving them a sense of security and peace of mind. A calendar of activities is posted, including various social opportunities, exercise classes, and a program for memory enhancement and brain health. Ttransportation is available for community access. It gives me great peace to know that they are so happy and well cared for.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I witnessed verbal abuse to the residents and employees by the head executive. My medication was missed on some days and I'd wait along time when I pushed my call button. For the price I paid to live there I should have received better care.

I visited this facility

I visited Aster Retirement Community of Marshfield. I didn't taste any food, but the dining room looked nice. I was unable to visit a room because they were filled and the person whose room they were usually able to show was in the hospital and so there was no room available for my mother to look at. The staff seemed to be very friendly, not pushy, and informative. It was a little bit dark, I thought, but they had older typed furniture, which might be on purpose, thinking that they were dealing with older people. It was very clean and the people that I did see appeared to be quite satisfied. What I liked about it was that I have heard good things about it from people who lived there because I don't live there at all. Everybody had a private room -- it was not a studio -- but rather they did have a separate room and a separate sitting area, and I feel that would be more suitable than having a studio apartment. I also liked that they checked on the residents and they will get their medications ready and dispense them if they were having trouble doing it themselves. They'll help make their appointments for doctors or beauticians or anywhere. They had a van that would take them shopping or to appointments, and I think that also was very good.
