Walnut Creek Assisted Living & Memory Care was actually my favorite one. They were very, very, very professional. The studios were just immaculate. The lady was very, very accommodating. She was trying to help me find financial assistance and everything. If my mother moves to Texas, that'd be the first place I'd go to try to secure housing, because of the way it looked, the apartments, and the manager was so professional. There were movies that they would watch. The common spaces were really nice. They had a coffee machine for them, and a snack bar. Location was very nice, too. It's not far from my home.

Provider Response

We are so happy to hear you had such an enjoyable experience on your recent tour with us Corey. We take pride in treating each resident with care while providing a comfortable atmosphere for residents to call home. We hope to welcome your loved one in the near future!

My tour of Walnut Creek Assisted Living & Memory Care was very good. I think the young lady who took me through did a good job of showing me the property and what their different floor plans were. I was able to get into numerous options and see their facility. Everything was clean and orderly and nice accommodations. Like the dining area and the different recreation areas, everything was very well kept. The rooms that we saw had all the features that we'd be looking for. I didn't walk away with any real negatives. It's a smaller facility than the other place. They have a very nicely kept facility. It seemed like it had a lot of positive attributes. The individuals that I communicated with were very friendly, communicated well, and were very pleasing to talk to.

I visited this facility

We've visited Walnut Creek Assisted Living & Memory Care, it was really nice, and we loved that one the most. It was a facility that holds about 56 residents, so it was larger than the other place we toured. They had some really nice-size apartments, and also some little studio rooms available for the residents. They also had a memory care section which was very encouraging, because that way, if Mom needed to go into a memory care facility, she wouldn't have to change facilities. So she could just stay there and just move into a different section. It appeared to be very clean and they had live music going on at the time we came in, so that's really cool. They also have gardening, arts and crafts, and all kinds of things for the residents to get involved with. The rooms had a living area, kitchenette, a bedroom, and a bathroom. One of the rooms we've visited was larger than the other one, but they also have studio rooms. The staff was very kind. The lady who was taking us through the tour introduced us to a number of staff; it was kinda fun meeting them as well. In the memory care they have a private room, and then they also have what they call a Jack and Jill room, which is where the residents can still have fairly good privacy. So you go in and then there's the bathroom door with doors on each side, so one bedroom was on the left and another bedroom was on the right as you walk in. It seemed to be pretty nice. They're a little bit more affordable than some of the other places that we've visited, so that's also encouraging. We didn't try any food, but the people at the restaurant seemed to be fairly happy with the food they were having. They were eating when we were there. Everything in the facility was so clean, it was sparkling, they had flowers, and everything was decorated very nicely. They had nice courtyards, even for the memory care, where the residents could go out.

I visited this facility

We visited this facility and Bobbie was excellent at showing us around and giving us information about the care and facility. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The rest of the staff was kind and friendly. The apartments were beautiful and everything looked clean and inviting. This facility is high on our list for our Mom’s new home.

Provider Response

Hi there! Thank you so much for taking the time to acknowledge Bobbie for the care and attention provided. We are so happy to hear our team has gone above and beyond, and your praise has been shared.

I visited this facility

We toured Walnut Creek Assisted Living & Memory Care. We like it because it's small, it's very colorful, and the residents appeared to be very friendly. They offer a lot of the things that we felt like my sister would enjoy. They have Bible study, they take them off premise to different locations, and they have a nice garden center for my sister to sit outside. Also, we don't have to worry about her getting out because in order to get into the facility and to get out, you have to have the lock combo number to get in and out. Back on the memory care side they got what they call the singles room, which is a bedroom and a bathroom, and then they have a companion setup where they put two to a room and they share a bathroom. The rooms are nice sized. They allow you to fix them up any way you want to. In the assisted living side they get a bedroom, a bathroom, and a living area. You also are able to fix them up in any way you want to. You can make them as colorful as you want, and you are allowed to use your own furniture to accomplish this. We felt like it would give my sister a more sense of home being around her own things. The rooms are not small; they are very roomy. Even the companion suite in the memory care side (where you've got two to a room and they share a bathroom), the bedroom is still large enough where you could put a couple of chairs along with the bed. They even allow you to put in small refrigerators if you want to. We met some of the techs and we met the nurse. Bobby, who gave us the tour, was friendly. They seemed to truly care about their patients. We spoke to some of the patients, and they seemed to be very comfortable. Everybody was smiling. I think for my sister, Walnut Creek was the best location. They have a room set up. If you want to have a party for your loved one, you are able to do so, and invite family or friends. They set up exercise activities and other activities to keep them busy. They have a really nice dining room where they serve three meals a day. They also give them two snacks a day. The dining area is really nice. They gave us a copy of the menu for the week. The key thing for me and for my sister-in-law is that we didn't want a large environment. In the memory care side, they have an area for 14 residents. It is very small for memory care. Knowing how my sister is, those are the ones you have to really monitor. The assisted living is wide open, and they can roam. In the memory care side, they have the whole area. They have a sitting area with a TV and a lounge, but you won't be able to get out of that area because my sister won't know the combination lock to get out. That was important to us because with my sister living in her home right now, we had to take her car keys, because she had a habit of getting in her car like she was going to the store, and then she would get lost. So that was an added incentive that we don't have to worry about her.

My friend has been staying at Walnut Creek Assisted Living & Memory Care for about a month now. She moved into their assisted care last month but they decided that she needed to go into memory care so she moved into the memory care unit on Friday. The place is close to my house, it was very nice and clean, and the people were very friendly. I've been up there several times a week and there's plenty of people there to help encourage her to do something. Her room is very nice. They had just redone their whole memory care unit and she's in double occupancy. There's a big bedroom on each side and then there's a big bathroom in between the two. It's plenty of room for her. The facility itself is very nice. They have several nice sitting areas scattered throughout the area. On the memory care side, they have a nice living room kind of area for them to interact. I haven't been there much since she's been in the memory care because I've been out of town, but it has a nice outside area where they can walk. They have an activity room and of course, she eats all her meals there, the lunchroom is very open and nice. Every staff that I've interacted with has been very helpful, very friendly, very positive, and motivated.

My mother is in Walnut Creek. Everything looks kept well and clean. The hallways are extra wide. The staff is very pleasant. She hasn't been there long enough to know anything about activities, but I've seen them watching TV and playing bingo. She loves the food, and from my observation, too, it seems like it's homemade. It doesn't seem like any of it is frozen. They have a beauty shop and a library. I was shown an arts and crafts room that contains a sewing machine that the residents are free to use if they want. I would have to give the staff a three because I've only interacted with maybe four of them, and only once each. Value for money is dependent on what kind of level of care that you have, so the higher level of care, the more you're gonna pay.

My mother-in-law has moved into Walnut Creek. We're OK. Everything is fine. We are glad that she went there. I think they're taking great care of her. Everything is really nice. It smells really good in the facility. We went in when we moved her in, and everything was nice and clean, and it smelled really good.

Walnut Creek seems nice, and it's working for us. My husband's apartment is very clean. The staff is friendly. The food is nice and satisfying. They have bingo and cards, and that's pretty much what I have observed.

Walnut Creek is very clean and my uncle loves the food there. He's even gaining weight. All he talks about constantly is how well the staff takes care of him. And if I need anything, I don't hesitate to call them and they take care of it. He likes all the staff members, and they're all nice to him, and they're very friendly and outgoing. The director, Bobbie, she goes above and beyond. She always tells us that if there's anything we need they wouldn't be able to fix it unless they know it. My uncle doesn't get involved in a lot of their activities there although he's offered it. One time he went down to join their cookie social, but I can't get him to do the exercises. He likes to sit outside and walk around a little bit to visit with folks that are also out and about. They give the residents quite a lot to do since I'm over there quite a bit and I see them.

Everything about Walnut Creek was good. They have a place for my dad to go outside. The staff was friendly. The living atmosphere was very nice. The dining area was very nice, very appealing, and clean. His room would be a private room with a bath. The fees were good, but there's an annual rate increase. The price is all-inclusive and includes cable. They have 14 units and it's one staff member for seven people. They check on the residents every hour, make sure that they get up in the morning, that they're dressed and cleaned up, and at night they check on them every two hours. The memory care residents can move around freely in the area. They shower the residents three times a week, or more if needed.

Walnut Creek was lovely. They explained everything to us and showed us the room. My mother's name was on the door even though she's not there yet. She will be in assisted living -- the first level -- because she doesn't require a lot of help right now. When I visited it was clean and everybody seemed happy. They told me her room was going to be completely overhauled with a new carpet and new paint. The staff was very kind, knowledgeable, and supportive. The dining area was pleasant. They take them places, they play bingo, music, and they have happy hour. They have transportation to Target, Wal-Mart, out to lunch, and to the doctors' office. I have a friend whose mother-in-law stays there for respite care all the time, and that was the biggest reason for me going there. It's a nice small facility, it's all on one level, easy to get to, and the people responded right away.

Within the last few months the food had gone for bad to worse. The director doesn’t listen to the residents and will not make the necessary changes to improve the quality of the food being served. It’s so sad because otherwise we’re happy here. You just cannot eat what they serve. Seems like they are understaffed also, poor employees are spread to thin. They’ve had a big turnover in staff in the last few months also. So sad because it a nice size facility and alway smells and looks clean.

Please do not place your loved one at this facility. You can not judge a book by it's cover. Your loved ones are not getting the care that they need nor the care that you or someone is paying for. The staff that cares the the residents are not trained to take care of them as they should. The is not a nurse on site 24/7 as advertised. The directors of this facility do not know how to manage. Your loved ones deserve the best of care now. Due to the lack of management skills there are cost cutting initiatives that are affecting the residents care. You are not getting what you are paying for. When you take a tour, ask to speak to other residents. Ask the right questions. I am not a disgruntled person. I am looking out for the best interest your loved one. I am extremely disappointed in the Walnut Creek assisted living facility. It is a very nice facility, but that is all.

Walnut Creek was very nice. It was well kept and smelled fine, The rooms were convenient and fairly reasonably priced. All memory care is expensive, but they were a little less expensive than some of the other options. We are no longer there because my dad has passed away. The leadership, like the executive director, were great, but the hands-on staff was less professional than I would have preferred. They made some errors that if they had been better trained, they wouldn’t have made those mistakes.

Walnut Creek was good. It was clean and friendly, and people there were very courteous. The facility was located in a nice area. I liked the fact that they offered so many different programs. The place was clean, the people were friendly, and the presentation was OK. It wasn’t over-the-top, but it was acceptable.

I can say that the people at Walnut Creek Assisted Living are Texas-friendly. They were very good with my mother, made her feel like a million dollars, and made my brother feel very comfortable. Everything was nice, clean, and tidy. They have about 50 people and all kinds of activities, like singing and community meals. They had a community living room and crafts, some bingo, and computers. Of all three places that I visited, this one was perfect. I'd like to live there myself.

We've already placed her in Walnut Creek. It's very clean, very well run, and efficient. The staff was very knowledgeable. It's super clean and reasonably spacious. She eats the food every day, so it's OK. She's in the memory care unit.

I've visited this facility and I really love the place. They have very nice amenities. They really have very good programs and activities for their residents. The people and staff were nice and very helpful. As to what I've seen, they really take good care of their residents and they provide a very high quality of service. They are very professional and passionate about their work. I would likely choose this facility once my dad is ready to move in to this situation.
