I visited this facility

I went to Heritage Village Assisted Living and Memory Care. It was nice, but it wasn't in the same class as the other place. The setting was right on the highway, and so the overall impression that you would get is that it had a highway industrial feel to the outside of the place. But the building itself was quite nice. They had a receptionist at the front desk who also, I think, was in charge of other things like accounting. It was not a well-staffed organization. They did not have a tour guide as such, and they relied upon the chef for the tour. He was very nice and very knowledgeable, but it was clear that they were not prepared for a thorough review of the place. There were not many amenities. They had a dining room, which was not very appealing, and they had other little areas. The building itself was much older, although from the outside, looking from the highway, the building itself was quite nice, it was an older building. The decor was not appealing; it was much more ordinary. The area of organization for the patients just wasn't appealing. I could not imagine my wife in that situation. It would not be appealing to her. The staff were very pleasant, but they were understaffed. The two people that I talked to had additional responsibilities, and you don't have a full-time tour-giver. It looked like they were understaffed to the point where it may affect the performance of the place. The place was nothing spectacular. You couldn't go in there and say it was spotless or anything like that. It's a combination of the age of the building and probably the lack of staff. There was nothing glaringly wrong about it, it just wasn't noteworthy.

Heritage Village Assisted Living and Memory Care was a very nice and high-quality place, but it was extremely expensive. It's modern. It's got alcoves and a little rec room. So,it's a nice facility with decent dining and things like that. The staff was nice and very helpful.

Provider Response

David, we're happy you found our staff to be so supportive during your experience here at Heritage Village Assisted Living and Memory Care. Thank you for sharing!

I visited this facility

We visited Heritage Village Assisted Living and Memory Care and we liked that. My mom didn't see any of the people that lived there. But the person that was showing us around seemed like they knew what they were talking about, and the people that worked there seemed to be interested in my mother. They came over to talk to us. There's in-house medical staff or a reliever, and it was nice to see that they have so much there. My mother liked the size of the rooms, that there was enough room for her stuff because she has a lot of crafts that she does. The stuff they have planned for the people or the activities that they have seemed very interesting to my mother. This place is the winner, so far. The price on this one is not a winner, but everything else is. I liked that they had a little doctor's office there that was run by an insurance company. It's actually for the people that live there, but it's run by another company, so that was a reliever. My mom just liked many things about the room. The staff was very professional.

Frank, we are so pleased you enjoyed your visit to Heritage Village Assisted Living and Memory Care! Thank you for taking the time to share.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was a resident of Heritage Village Assisted Living and Memory Care. The people were very nice and everything, but they were understaffed. They just did not keep my mom and the residents active. I think that they are more of an assisted living; they say memory care, but I don't think they are trained for actual memory care if that makes sense. It takes special training for memory care. The people there are wonderful, but I don't think they can take care of Alzheimer's patients that are a little bit further along. I was not very happy with their activities. It was a lot more expensive than what we got.

What we liked about Heritage Village Assisted Living and Memory Care was when you first walk in, it's very inviting and there is a lot of activity just on that first-floor open area. There are a lot of outside spaces too, and every floor has a beautiful outside terrace. Those are the things that appealed to us about it. It's off the main road here in Gainesville. My dad is in their assisted living facility. I like its environment and I think the staff is very nice and very helpful. It's beautiful, there's a lot of outside sitting areas, and it has a very large feel to it. There are a lot of fountains around the outside and a nice, beautiful fireplace. When you first walk in, it just looks like a very upscale hotel. His room is very nice. It has nice granite countertops. We went up a level, size-wise, for him. It has a nice large bathroom and wide doors. We just can't complain. They have a bistro area where they can sit in and eat just to get a different view from the dining room area, which is more like a hotel. Each floor has its own unique patio that's very nice. There's a large library sort of area with big tables, with puzzles out, and they can just roll up to them and work on the puzzle. They encourage a lot of activities for them to get together. There's an art room and a hair salon. Like most of these facilities, they have their own PT area. Even just going outside, it just looks like a very pretty place. Of course, with the staff, there's a little bit of conflict here and there sometimes. Their prices, I think, are overpriced, but we were able to push for a certain price and they're flexible on the amount so we were able to make it work.

I visited this facility

We have toured Heritage Village Assisted Living, and my sister likes it. It's very nice and has a very expansive feel to it, which resonated with my sister. She just didn't want to be in a place that made her feel so crowded. The place had an open-air, airy feel to it. It has to do with my sister's feeling that she didn't want to be crowded. The room had a raised ceiling rather than the standard-height ceiling, and that also gave it a more open feel. My sister has memory issues; she feels like life is being taken from her. I think the open-area feel is helpful for her. The staff did very well; he was helping my sister to feel more relaxed. She had a chance to taste one meal. It wasn't a regular dinner menu, given the time when we were there (it was mid-afternoon). She asked for an omelet and she's so pleased with what she got. As we walked past the activity center, the person in charge explained the kinds of things they were doing. At that moment, there wasn't any activity going on, but there was a documentary being played in an adjoining room. It was part of the planned program activity for that afternoon, and it was appealing to those who sat in. It had a nice, elegant, hotel feel to it.

Thank you for your feedback, Bob! We appreciate you sharing your experience and hope you will let us know if there is anything we can do for you. It's our pleasure to serve.

Mother has a good sized room, much better than she had at another place. Staff is attentive and available. In the over 3yrs she has been in MC, I have one complaint, which had nothing to do with her level of Care. I absolutely recommend Heritage Gainesville to anyone looking for a place you can feel comfortable moving your loved one. We looked at 5 places, and are so Happy we decided on Heritage Village MC Virginia. Assisted Living is exceptional as well.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

I toured Heritage Village Assisted Living and Memory Care for my mom and it was nice. The staff was nice, but the memory care was on the third floor. They had elevators, though. I didn't get good vibes with the memory care facility. I didn't see a lot of memory care patients or residents there. The few I did see were in the doll room and were dressing dolls or something. They have an outside area on the third level. It was cushioned with something on the ground that was for walking on, but it was just different. It didn't give me the cheery, open-air, "wow" vibe. The rooms were a bit larger than the other ones I saw. They had more amenities in the bathroom, they have some areas for towel storage, cabinets, and stuff. The rooms were very nice. I didn't care for the layout of the memory care, maybe because it was on the third floor, or maybe because I thought if somebody wandered they could push the button for the elevator. I know they're not staffed enough for one-on-one caregivers. The dining area looked nice and well appointed. Everything was clean and perfect -- maybe too perfect, but I don't know. I saw more activity in the assisted living when I could glance over there, but not so much in the memory care. I only saw the ladies. They were about three or four ladies; they had a room where they did puzzles. But the ladies were dealing with baby dolls, they were doing something with the baby dolls, like dressing them or something, and there were caregivers in there with them.

Heritage Village Assisted Living and Memory Care is very nice and very modern. My mother seems happy there, which is good. The staff is very friendly. Everybody there is super nice and helpful. She seems to love the food. The facility is very good. There's nothing going on with the Corona, but they're starting to get slowly back together. It's significantly expensive, but I think the value that she gets there is worth it.

Provider Response

My father has lived here for 4 years, first in AL and now MC. He was able to transfer to the same floor plan when he made the move. His suite is a very comfortable large bedroom with living area, kitchenette, walk in closet and large bathroom with walk in shower. Granite counter tops, pleasing colors, it's a quality setting. The staff is kind, respectful and takes very good care of my father. During non Covid times,, they provide a wide variety of daily activities to stimulate and engage all the residents. The dining is apparently top notch. Although I haven't been able to see him in person during Covid, they have Facetime'd him with me on numerous occasions and have emailed me regarding any changes at the community. No resident has contracted covid! No community is perfect but I feel very at ease with my father living at Heritage Village.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We strive to provide 5-star experiences for all of our residents and guests, so please do let us know if there's anything we can do to further support your family. We love having your father with us!

Everybody at Heritage Village is extremely friendly. My friend's needs are taken care of. It's very neat, very clean, and they seem to attend to all her needs. They have an awful lot of activities. She loves the food there. They have games going on all day long, they have church services, they take the residents to the doctors if they're within three miles of the facility, and they have outings to different places to eat or to shop. It's a great place.

I loved Heritage Village. It was very clean and professional. I think they would take good care of anybody who was put in there. They have a lot of nice living room areas, a beautiful outside area that's fenced in and people can go there anytime they want, and an open cafeteria. They also have refrigerators that they stock with healthy snacks like yogurt, fruits, and juice and they're open anytime they want. The rooms have sensors so if people get out of bed, the staff is alerted right away, and they go to the rooms to make sure somebody hasn't fallen. Every two hours in the middle of the night, they check on the residents to see if they need to go to the rest room. They have a nice menu with nice choices, and it's restaurant-style so it's not limited. The place is amazing.

My mother has been in Heritage Village for a year now. They have different levels of care, but she has only been on memory care. I've had a very good experience. They've been very helpful. Compared to the place she was in before, I'm 100% satisfied. The staff is good. They have daily activities like a workout type thing in the morning after breakfast where there are people who aren't mobile or unable to stand. They can sit and lift their legs. They have different crafts at times that they can do. It's a large place, so there are lots of areas for people to walk around. They sometimes go out to the patio and have activities out there. They may have a cookout or cooking classes with them, which is more of a demonstration than they're actually doing it. My situation is a little bit different than other people because my mom is 94 years old, so it's a little different than people whose parents or loved ones are younger.

Heritage Village was very nice and brand new. The lady who walked me through was very nice, helpful, and took her time with us. I was very impressed by the meal and dietary plan they offered. The meal was lovely, and the activities were nice and stimulating. They have various off-premises trips during the week.
