I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Unfortunately my sweet Mother spent the end of her life at this place. Only wanting the best for her, we chose this particular facility as we had visited other family members there many, many years ago. My goodness what a difference time can make. Just remember that these facilities that you trust to take care of your loved ones when they are in their most fragile time of their life are only as good as the people that work there. With each week comes all new uncaring faces doing the minimum they can get away with. Don't base this place on its reputation from the past. It is a very cold uncaring place filled with very cold, uncaring people!!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My Mother was admitted a few months before she passed. Assisted living. I would not recommend or wish this place on anyone. Lot's of marketing/promises, etc. But-basically they are just trying to hire any assistants/employees to help in each unit. Just like every other nursing type home. But they are not hiring top quality. Having experienced Saint Catherines and other speciality facilities - I would never recommend St. C.

I visited this facility

St. Catherine's Village was very lovely. They have different levels of living and if you really become ill they have an Alzheimer's unit that's totally away from the building. You won't even know it's there. The apartments were beautiful. They have little cottages there that you can buy, which is nice. The staff is very nice. Rather than menus, you can look at the food, then you sit down and they serve you. They have card games, bingo, and socials in the evenings.

I visited this facility

My visit at St. Catherine's Village was messed up. Somebody called and said that they have no availability in the memory care unit. The room was like a hospital facility, there's just a hospital bed with a toilet in one corner of the room. I was not happy with it at all. They called and said that I missed my appointment even though I went, so I wasn't impressed. The dining area only had a couple of tables with chairs.

I visited this facility

St. Catherine's Village was very nice, and they assisted me very well. However, it's out of my price range. They have the whole spectrum. There were residents in the activity room. The staff was lovely and very patient. They had water aerobics, exercise room, and every kind of facility that you would ever want to have. It's an excellent 5-star facility. They had garden homes and everything you need from independent living to a hospital.

I visited this facility

St. Catherine's Village was the nicest one I have ever seen. It was more like a college campus for older people. The facilities were great. They had so many activities, a pool and a hot tub, a lake, a huge activities room, a workout room, a café, and a library. It was lovely, and the people actually sounded happy. The apartments were much too small for my parents; they said that it was suffocating. The house that we looked at was lovely, but of course there is a two-year wait for the houses, which is tough.

I visited this facility

I visited St. Catherine’s Village when I was looking for a facility for my brother. We talked to a lady in the office who was able to give us information and explain to us where my brother would fit. We saw the grounds but were not able to see the room. The staff was great. We were impressed and would have loved my brother to be there.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My sister-in-law was at St. Catherine's Village for a number of years. We visited her there and stayed overnight, and they had nice accommodations for visitors in separate units. I've had two sisters-in-law that have lived there for years, and both of them died there, but they were well-taken care of through several stages of their health. I did eat there, and they actually have their own chef, so it is a little different than somebody that has just a few servers. I think it was very clean and very well-kept. They certainly took care of my two sisters-in-law, and I haven't heard their families have any complaints whatsoever either. I didn't have a lot of contact with the staff, but those that I did have contact with were always very useful and very helpful.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My mother was in St. Catherine's Village for several years before she died. It was top notch. They had independent living. They had houses, cottages, assisted living, nursing home, and Alzheimer's residents. It was more expensive than the other one I visited. My mom was there at the assisted living and then the nursing home. The food was good. The rooms were large. They had some rooms that were double occupancy, but my mom and I didn't like them. We started there, but then she had a single. They had a little kitchenette in the assisted living. I will recommend them to friends and family. The grounds were well kept, and it was also out in the country.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My sister is in St. Catherine's Village. It is great, and I wish I could go there. She started in a one-bedroom apartment. It is terrific, and she enjoys it. Then she became sick, and she had to go to the assisted living. Her room is nice, and she likes that. I ate there and the food is delicious. When she was able, she went to the pool for aerobics every day. Now that she is really not able to do that, she goes to their get-togethers and plays cards. They also have a library. She is taken good care of. There is not one thing that I do not like about it.

I visited this facility

St. Catherine's Village is owned by the Dominical Sisters. The place was fabulous. It was really a very nice place. When I walked in there, I knew right away that it was above my budget. It was one of those buy-in facilities. It is continuing care so you really have to invest a good bit of your income and so forth in to live there. It will be well worth it if I just have the money. That would have been my first choice. To be honest though, I don't feel like I could manage it. They have lots of activities for their residents. They have a swimming pool, an exercise room, a crafts room, etc. They have clubs like choir, drama, and writers groups. You name it, they got it.

I visited this facility

I have had two grandparents live at St. Catherine's, and both have had fairly good experiences. The facility itself is very desirable; there is a lake, and the buildings are all new and well maintained. My grandfather spent the end of his life in Campbell Cove, the Alzheimer's facility. The staff were very nice, and seemed very interested in his well being. The room he stayed in resembled a small hotel room which is certainly better than the hospital feel that a lot of nursing homes can have. There were frequent events and activities that seemed to give the area a community feel, animals were brought in, local high school choirs would come sing, and there were tvs and activities available a lot of the time for residents. Overall it was a very nice place. My grandmother also lives at St. Catherine's now, she began in the independent living area and has since moved to assisted living. The independent living area was basically a small apartment, which allowed her an independent but safe lifestyle. The only downside was that the facility is very large, and she was very far from the dining hall. As her health has deteriorated, she has been moved to the assisted living area. This part of the facility is a little more like a traditional nursing home. However, there are still many amenities available, and the room she stays in is fairly nice. The staff in the area seem more focused on treatment than they were at Campbell Cove, but they are still polite and understanding.Overall I think this is a fine facility. From what I understand the price is fairly high, but if you have the means it certainly exceeds expectations and offers a nice place for seniors to live and be cared for.
