I visited this facility

St. Catherine's Village is owned by the Dominical Sisters. The place was fabulous. It was really a very nice place. When I walked in there, I knew right away that it was above my budget. It was one of those buy-in facilities. It is continuing care so you really have to invest a good bit of your income and so forth in to live there. It will be well worth it if I just have the money. That would have been my first choice. To be honest though, I don't feel like I could manage it. They have lots of activities for their residents. They have a swimming pool, an exercise room, a crafts room, etc. They have clubs like choir, drama, and writers groups. You name it, they got it.

I visited this facility

I have had two grandparents live at St. Catherine's, and both have had fairly good experiences. The facility itself is very desirable; there is a lake, and the buildings are all new and well maintained. My grandfather spent the end of his life in Campbell Cove, the Alzheimer's facility. The staff were very nice, and seemed very interested in his well being. The room he stayed in resembled a small hotel room which is certainly better than the hospital feel that a lot of nursing homes can have. There were frequent events and activities that seemed to give the area a community feel, animals were brought in, local high school choirs would come sing, and there were tvs and activities available a lot of the time for residents. Overall it was a very nice place. My grandmother also lives at St. Catherine's now, she began in the independent living area and has since moved to assisted living. The independent living area was basically a small apartment, which allowed her an independent but safe lifestyle. The only downside was that the facility is very large, and she was very far from the dining hall. As her health has deteriorated, she has been moved to the assisted living area. This part of the facility is a little more like a traditional nursing home. However, there are still many amenities available, and the room she stays in is fairly nice. The staff in the area seem more focused on treatment than they were at Campbell Cove, but they are still polite and understanding.Overall I think this is a fine facility. From what I understand the price is fairly high, but if you have the means it certainly exceeds expectations and offers a nice place for seniors to live and be cared for.

St. Catherine's has a wonderful reputation of caring for seniors at all levels from independent living to nursing home care.

From St. Catherine's Village

Health is high among our values. Efforts to preserve and prolong health are an expression of a desire to be fully human; a desire and effort that certainly need no further justification.

Our mission means caring for all persons with respect for their personal worth and dignity, embracing their total needs—physical, spiritual, emotional and social. St. Catherine’s Village Mission of Service can be accomplished only through careful selection of dedicated, qualified employees who understand this mission; an organizational environment which stimulates all to high standards of performance and which provides ongoing educational programs; and appropriate programs of evaluation and quality assurance.

This mission of St. Catherine’s Village is accomplished in conformance with the philosophy of the Dominican Sisters and the Ethical Standards observed in Catholic Health Care Institutions in the United States, following the “Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Facilities” approved by the National Conference of Catholic Bishops. The mission is pursued within our own fiscal limitations and those imposed by state and federal statutes.

St. Catherine’s Village continues to assess the health needs of the community and respond appropriately, assuming a major responsibility for the provision of quality health care to residents of the State of Mississippi.

As an integral part of its mission, St. Catherine’s Village strives to deliver quality care and to reach out to the poor and the elderly of our population.

Through wellness and health promotion programs and the provision of health education opportunities based on current needs, St. Catherine’s Village continues to preserve and improve the quality of life and health status of the community. It seeks constantly to improve the quality of service and care it offers, the level of which is always in response to services needed and never compromised by the resident’s ability to pay.

What Makes Us Special

St Catherine’s Village recognizes its basic participation in the mission of the church which involves two main ministries: Education and Healthcare. The three elements of the church’s mission—Communication, Community and Service—must be present in both the teaching and healing ministries. Therefore, these three activities—Communicating a Christian Message, Establishing Community, and Performing Service—express our mission of Christian healing at St. Catherine’s Village
