I visited this facility

I went to the Oaks at Lake Wildwood, but the only place they had was a studio, and it was far away, at the back of the building. It would have been a real chore for me to walk back and forth three times a day to the dining room. Plus it was just a room with one of those little refrigerators you place in a college dorm, so I wouldn't have a freezer. I like healthy choices if I decide, I don't want to go to the dining room. They had service on Sunday morning and that was nice. The place was clean, it was very bright. It's an older facility. There were three therapists working with the people. I think somebody came in and did hair, and they had a place where they had books. The staff was nice and very friendly, but I felt like she was pushing me to sign for it.

This facility has no cook and very little food. A chef has to be hired rather then a person to cook. This has been going on for about 3 months. They are in chaos due to a new manager. The residents all very unhappy as to the status of their food and menus. There is lack of communication. Checks are being lost by the office. These residents are paying too much money to Erin utter chaos.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review of our community. Your experience and perspectives are important to our team. We are actively interviewing individuals for the new chef role and have given additional team effort to continue providing not just superb dining service, but wholistic resident care. This place is great. I visit my Great Aunt recently. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I spoke with the Nurse there I can't remember her name she was very kind and attentive to my Aunt. The other ladies were helpful as well. I was very surprised at the cleanliness and open atmosphere. The rooms were a perfect size and very clean.

My aunt will move into Oaks at Lake Wildwood. I thought that it was very nice. The director was very pleasant and very helpful. She was able to show me around and gave me a good tour as far as seeing a room that was lived in that had furniture in it, which helped, and then was able to, of course, show me which room my aunt would be occupying. She was very helpful. The room was small but spacious. They have enough room to have a good amount of personal belongings and extra furniture, too. In the living room, you could still have a couch and a recliner, and a TV, and then in the bedroom, you could have a bed and a chest of drawers. There's a good amount of space. Everything looked really good and clean. Everything looked like it was maintained in the facility and very clean. I thought their dining area was good and seemed homey. I noticed they had a group that was doing a Bible study, and then I also noticed they had a salon where the lady was doing someone's hair that day that I went. They had like puzzles and games kind of thing. They have access to being able to use a washer and dryer, and that's one of the reasons we chose that because that's important to my aunt for her to be able to do her own laundry.

I visited this facility

The atmosphere at Oaks at Lake Wildwood was very nice. They had a lot of activities to offer, and the price was within my budget and better than a lot of other places I had checked. Even with additional costs that had to be added for additional care, it was still very reasonable. A lot of the residents that I got to see were very happy, too. They have four different sized rooms to choose from. The layout of the building is a giant circle; as a resident walks, they'll always make it back to their room. They don't have to worry about going down a wrong hallway. They have a couple of open areas inside for everyone to meet, and then they have a very nice outside facility with gardens. The staff were very good about giving information. They seemed very knowledgeable and were attentive to our needs and what we were looking for.

It seemed fine and OK. It was fairly decent. The first thing that I saw was the dining area, and it seemed sufficient. The room size seemed adequate, it was fairly clean, and I was surprised that you could bring in your own furniture.

I visited the rooms were nice, and the people were nice. I honestly feel that they were not that diverse enough for my father. There are not enough males there, and it is more of a female type. The rooms they showed me were adequate. They weren't joining any activities when I went, and I wasn't told about any. They just showed me the dining area, but I did not eat there. It was nice and clean. There was no one there, but everything was nice and clean. The whole facility was nice and clean. The place was kind of quiet, and that was about it.

My mom has moved in and it has been great. I don't have any complaints. The people have been really helpful to the family during this transition as well as to my mother. She has a small room; it's got a small bedroom, a separate living area, and a very large bathroom that is suitable for a wheelchair. The bathtub is cut down so she doesn't have to step over it to get in the shower. The staff comes in and bathes her couple of times a week, and they check on her about once every hour. She just has a lot of good care there. They have balanced meals. I have eaten there once, and it was very good. They are good about if she doesn't feel like going to the lunch room they will bring it to her room. They have good activities -- such as devotion every morning -- and she enjoys that. Sometimes, they have hymn singing, different types of Bingo, and movies; they have a lot of different activities.
