My father is set to move into Palmcrest Grand Residence. The staff was very helpful and very attentive. The place was very clean, and it seemed like a nice facility. I'm excited for him to be moving in there. They had an activities director and a hair salon. They had someone to do his nails and they would do his laundry. They would provide his meals. They had media rooms and social gathering places. So, it looked like a full-service community. The person who assisted me was very helpful. This was my first time doing anything like this, so she explained everything very carefully, answered all my questions, seemed pleasant, and didn't even mind the silly questions that I didn't know anything about.

My father-in-law moved into the Palmcrest Grand Residence. The physical facilities were nice. The people there looked like they were happy. My father-in-law's room is pretty plain, but you can put your own stuff in there and fix it up if you wish. They have some activities, like bingo and movies. I like the staff. They obviously know the patients, so the staff is fine. They have outdoor seating areas and a TV room.

Palmcrest Grand Residence was very big and very clean. It was very well kept up and very well maintained. The staff seemed very friendly and very caring people. They have a lot of activities for the residents. People seemed to be enjoying their meal. They had tables for four in one dining area that I saw, and everyone seemed very happy. It just didn't seem to have an outside area, like a patio or a garden area, but everything seemed so well organized and so clean. I was very impressed with that.

My father has moved into Palmcrest Grand Residence. He's happy with everything so far. He said the staff members are very nice, very accommodating, and very helpful and that he's happy there. They have single rooms if a person wants to be in a room by themselves and if they want a roommate, they have that option as well. My dad is in a shared room. They have a cafeteria, bingo, church service, Bible study, chair yoga, music, and karaoke, and there's also a hairstylist and a manicurist. I'm just very happy with everything so far. It's an old building and renovations will help.

Provider Response

Thank you for the review and feedback. We are so happy that you've chosen Palmcrest.

My friend moved into the Palmcrest Grand Residence. I like that the place is very bright. When you walk in, it's very grand. The lobby is really pretty. The atmosphere is upbeat. The way they have the place painted is very cheery. The staff is very nice. There's nothing gloomy about the place. They have an activity room and a huge movie theater. They all have their seats in the dining room that they go to, so it's familiar to them and to the people they eat with. If they're not happy with that seat, they can ask to sit somewhere else. The room is very upbeat and clean. I love that there is a huge patio. My friend's room has a sliding glass door through which he can walk right out onto the patio. The whole place just gives you a good feeling. I ask my friend about his food every day, and it seems to be a very well-rounded meal. He seems to like it. He always has vegetables and fruit. He seems to get excited about breakfast. They give him his medications. They don't provide transportation to their doctor's visits and back. I guess they're going to be offering some kind of transportation once or twice a week to the drugstore or the market, and he has to sign up for it.

Provider Response

Thank you Kathy for the review we appreciate it. We do offer transportation to doctor's appointments, dmv, social security, etc. but it has to be within a 5-mile radius of our community.

I liked that Palmcrest Grand Residence had a church service, a gym, and a movie theater. It was just an inviting place. They were open arms when we walked in. We visited the memory care, and the staff there was very polite and knowledgeable about the whole place. The lady gave us a grand tour of the whole place and explained everything about the program. They had a great activity board for the residents. They showed us the lunch room and the activity room. They even had a salon, if you needed a manicure or to get your hair done. They also had a courtyard, where they could take them out to enjoy some sunlight or just relax. There was a room to go and watch movies.

Provider Response

Thank you for your nice review. I appreciate the nice words I hope you decide to become a part of the Palmcrest family. We would love to have you and your family be a part of our community.

We visited Palmcrest Grand Residence. It was nice and new. They had a separate memory care unit. They also had a theater, and a barber shop, and the haircuts were very reasonable, about $8. They had three meals a day and snacks in between the meals, which was nice for the residents, so they're not hungry. When we were there, the snacks were peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and juice of some sort. So, if somebody didn't make it to a meal, they didn't go hungry. The dining room was very nice and had a lot of staff. They have separate units, they're in the same building but the memory care is up the elevator on the second floor. They have a decent-sized closet, a wall closet. They have their own shower and bathroom. They have some double rooms, of course, it's a little bigger, and the shower and baths would be shared by the two people in that room. You could bring in your own furnishings, some of the furnishings were a little tired. There are outside patios on the first floor, I believe they have an outdoor area. The staff who gave me the tour was very nice.

My brother moved into Palmcrest Grand Residence. It's right between freeways, so it doesn't look great, but they seem to be caring and they have a lot of people working there. And they seem to care about the patients and they're making sure his needs are met, and he's happy being around a large number of people that are there. The advantage that they have over a house, because I've seen a couple that were just houses, is that they seem to have more activities and more people available to help the patients. They do have activities, they have a whole list of activities that they do every day, and they have them all on a little calendar. They try to get the memory care people involved, and they take them outside because they have a patio, and do luncheons and other activities out there for them. Normally, they don't get out, the memory care people, but they do set up various things for them to participate in, so they have something going on every day. He seems happy there. We're satisfied with his situation so far.

Palmcrest Grand Residence was a very nice facility. They have a memory care section, other than just assisted living. It was clean. I liked that the memory care was on a different floor than the regular assisted living. It was a smaller area, but they had more staff watching them. They also have a courtyard and a patio area. The woman who gave the tour was very nice and very attentive. She's actually the person that referred us to the skilled nursing home, where my mom is in right now. She went out of her way to help us.

We like Palmcrest Grand Residence. We thought it was a beautiful facility. It was clean. Everybody that works there was nice. They seem very connected with the residents there and it feels more comfortable. It was a very easy process. I just loved the initial tour and talking to everybody. The staff who assisted me was very kind and very easy. The facility was very clean, nice, and organized. It's a very peaceful place, so I like that. They have activities. They were playing with them and doing things to keep them entertained.

Palmcrest Grand Residence is pretty nice now. It has got an actual theater in there. They have a facility for people that have dementia, and it is a locked facility. There are no stairs going from one floor to the next. It has ramps, so that makes for wheelchair and walking easier. I have not seen that much of the staff, but they appear to be attentive. My aunt will be moving in there at the end of this month. They got staff there for repairs and cleaning.

I took my father with me to Palmcrest Grand Residence, and he really didn't like it. He said it reminded him of the skilled nursing facility that he stayed in. I couldn't see him living there and being happy either because it's a small studio. He has a one-bedroom where he is now, and he's got enough space to move around, so I didn't think Palmcrest was a good fit. They had activities there. They're not offering the communal eating at this time due to COVID. From what I overheard from another conversation that he was having with a resident, you can schedule to come down to the dining room to eat, but there are social distancing rules in place. However, if you choose to have your food delivered to you, you can. They do not contract outside with other caregivers. They have a built-in caregiver system.

Wow!! That's all I can say. We went to visit my aunt who has been living there for 4 months and her room was so nice I wish I lived here! There are also tons of social events everyday and the food was really good too.

When my dad first started showing signs of demenetia I was worried about finding affordable assisted living center in the area. Even though it's a bit out of the way from me, Palmcrest was by far the standout. The staff were all helpful and the residents looked happy and well taken care of. Josephine in particular was super nice and showed us around the whole facility. They hold plenty of social events and even have a movie screening room! Overall it's great for families who are struggling with taking care of their parents and there are plenty of opportunities for me and my kids to come visit.

Palmcrest Grand Retirement was very big. There were people in the lobby that were sleeping. Sometimes it smelled a little bit funky. There was a darkness to it that I didn't like. It was also more expensive. I didn’t like the person who helped me because I had to wait for her for half an hour.

My mother is in Palmcrest Grand Retirement. She went from independent living to memory care. It's very nice, very clean, it smells clean, and it has a very pleasant atmosphere. The rooms are very spacious and we had to furnish the apartment. The people are very nice. They have an enormous kitchen and dining room. For the memory care, they have a smaller kitchen, which is more like a cafe, and it's gorgeous, very spacious, and luxurious. We're really pleased with it. The staff is awesome. They've been very good and caring. She likes the food and it looks very good. They moved the furniture in for us when they moved her to another apartment, and they arranged it. They worked with us, they cleaned it, and they turned off the AC for her since she didn't want it. They're very attentive. They have her walking and they have her socializing more.

I really enjoyed our tour, we were pleasently surprised at the affordable cost and even more pleased with the new upgrades to the furniture and rooms. The staff all said hello as we toured the facility which made us feel very welcome. The place has a lot of common space both indoor and out. We are happy our mother will be staying there.

Palmcrest Grand Retirement was OK. It was a little bit cheaper and they offered more for the price compared to the other place I visited. The rooms were OK, but the doors to the restroom and the shower area were regular size. If you have somebody in a wheelchair, it's not going to work. There was also no way to go to the patio area for the wheelchairs because of the rails on the door.

I didn't like Palmcrest Grand Retirement at all. Some of the people were outside on the street, which was kind of weird. Inside, it was like a nursing home to me. The rooms that they showed me were in really bad condition. The place didn't seem very clean.

My parents are having a little bit of problems with what they need on a daily at Palmcrest. And on a scale of 1-10, I would rate their services as a 4 to 5, 10 being great and 1 being bad. My parents are happy with the way they are being treated and things that are going there. I am not happy with that. It was a pretty nice facility, it's clean, and the people were very attentive the first time I was there, but within the last few months they have changed management. Another company took over, and for some reason some of the staff members are not performing the job they are supposed to be doing. I would not recommend them unless the relatives lived nearby to visit the people that are going to be staying there at least once or twice a week so they can see firsthand how well the residents are being treated. I would not recommend it for people like myself being away. I can only hear when I talk to my parents on my phone complaining about their lack of services and they are not getting what they are paying for.

I am/was a resident of this facility

I’ve been in Palmcrest Grand a little over 4 years now. It’s an old building, and it’s big, spacious, and fairly comfortable, but it needs some serious repairs, like plumbing and electrical stuff. I have a room with a bedroom and bathroom, not very big, with closed in closets. It’s OK. The staff is pretty nice. The housekeeper comes by once a day and cleans the room, and it works out pretty well. The food is terrible, and I don’t know if it is due to budget problems or lack of capable people or both. They have a pretty large dining room downstairs that houses 100 people. It’s more utilitarian, with a hard floor and nice fixtures, but it’s OK. They have a pretty good activities director. They play different games on a daily basis, like Bingo and blackjack. We have a tai chi class once or twice a week. They have movies once in a while, maybe a couple of afternoons a week.

It's really nice at Palm Crest. They give good service. The place is clean and they wash the linens once a week or as needed. The food is all right but it's bland. They have to have it that way because not everybody can have salt. You can also order food that you like. The staff is all right but we had to talk to the manager or the activities director because some patients scream and the like. However, they seemed not to get your message across. I would still recommend this facility though.

At first I was nervous about going to an assisted living facility because I had the mental image of an "old folks home" from a movie. But I was happily surprised to find out that either a lot has changed or Palmcrest is just an exception to the rule. The facility was clean and well maintained, even though it did remind me of a hotel. All of the lamps and sofas seemed to be bought en masse. George was a widower an lived in a small "studio." It was more or less just a room with an attached bathroom but he had personalized it with his own things, namely a big old record player and stacks of jazz records. He said he would rather live on his own but that every once in awhile he has trouble getting up out of bed so it is nice that he has the staff there to help him when he needs it. I didn't really get a chance to talk with any of the staff but they all seemed friendly and always greeted George by name when they saw him. All and all I think Palmcrest is a nice facility that seems to respect their residences.
