I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

Run the other way…no compassion…gaslighting and blaming is the norm for higher ups…ceased communication with family members…no responsibility for any issues that came up…short staffed and some of them try but are terribly over worked…overall atmosphere as cheery as a crypt…hardly any activities to enjoy…advertised menu wasn’t accurate…need a total revamp of mission statement service wise…people’s loved ones need good compassionate care…do better!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

I am the grand daughter of previous residents- in assisted living and care for them three days per week. One grandparent is independent and one has dementia. Our experience with GracePointe has been extremely disheartening and overall disappointing. Administration for GracePointe is unable to take responsibility and apologize when they get things wrong. Trish (nurse admin) would make every excuse, and when things were brought to her attention, attempt to turn all issues around and make them the residents problem. Even when a cna did not report a uti for three days they took no responsibility and instead of choosing empathy they chose to refuse to communicate with any family even POA from then forward. The aides made comments like- I’m surprised a resident could report signs of a uti- due to dementia, which felt that they would not listen even if something was reported by our loved one. Staff will also make excuses even when it is something as easy as brushing a residents hair with dignity- they would say well there is a lot of people to get ready in the morning. Overall all important aspect of care were extremely lacking. We had to have discussion about basic hygiene numerous times. Hygiene would be better for a short time and then bad again. They refused to use the whirlpool tube for “safety”. Never fixed the only other laundry dryer. If you needed a test through nursing it could close to two weeks to receive care for an issue. Nurses would not come check on my grandparent when she was unwell, they would tell aides to take vitals and say “that’s all they could do”. The nurses documented a fall with one sentences and would give no other explanation/ or information when their staff was present so we could tell PT and ensure steps were taken to make things safer. The majority of staff are clearly unhappy. Usually the front desk people push the handicapped button and walk away quickly with no greeting or acknowledgment to new visitors. Just a very cold, and extremely mismanaged environment. These are not even all of the concerns during a 6-7 month stay. There needs to be some serious management changes so Gracepointe can get back to responsible care for the vulnerable elderly population.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother is in memory care at GracePointe Assisted Living & Memory Care and she's getting the best care. So far, I've been very impressed with the staff. They all seem very efficient. Everything's going according to plan. Her room is just the right size, not too big, not too small. It has a refrigerator in it along with a sink, and a small kitchenette in her living room, which is also where her bed and everything's at, just kind of like one big room. She has a very large bathroom with a shower for bathing. The bathroom is huge. It's wheelchair accessible. They were large enough to facilitate people in wheelchairs. She's got two really good-sized windows. The memory care is on the second floor and it has a nice glass enclosure dayroom or sunroom where they have different activities. It also has a large eating area and it seems as though it has its own kitchen that serves just the second floor there. My mother isn't very active at the moment. If she was up for more things, they have more things for her to do. It's got a circle drive for loading and unloading. There are two handicapped sections for parking, about six or eight sections for visitors that is close, and an entire lot for parking. On the first floor, they have a library and it has a fireplace for sitting and reading in quiet. You pass it as you're heading toward the elevator. It's a secured building. You have to call to get in. Up on the memory care floor, there are electronic locks on all the doors, so it's secure. They have an activity room and there are some puzzles and different things. The food smelled great, and it tasted good. It seems expensive because we've never had to pay for it before, but it is right in line with the other facilities that we've looked at.

Poor poor communication skills by the administration. No empathy or concern for family members. Abrupt, demanding, unhelpful. A lovely building with great rooms. Food is processed institutional food cooked next door. Short of staff. Overpaid COO. Activities are not very cheerfully lead. Garage space.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents are at GracePointe Assisted Living & Memory Care Suites. They moved in on October 1st, and they have been excellent. Their 1-bedroom is nice. They could've gotten a 2-bedroom, but they didn't have the money for that, and they didn't really need it. They were able to take some of their belongings and fit it in one bedroom. We're very happy with it. It's bright, has lots of light, it's not dark, and it's has an open floor plan. The staff is excellent. I haven't met one that wouldn't do anything that you asked. It's been excellent. With COVID, we can't go visit them, but if I dropped stuff up at the front door, they'll take it up to their room. They've just been great. The food is wonderful. They get to pick what they want, and they pick it the day before at noon. They have several choices and my dad said that the portions are just right. He said, "You know, you could get fat in a place like this" because there's not as much exercise that they used to. When they first started going there, he thought, "Oh, that wasn't much to eat," but he's really thankful that it's just the right portion and that they don't overeat. The care that they have taken to keep COVID out of their facility is fantastic. Even though we have to visit right now through a window outside, I don't care, because they're safe. They've had no instances of COVID in the residents. They've had some staff members that had COVID, but they've quarantined the residents. They call us and say, "Hey, this floor's gonna be quarantined for two weeks." With COVID, there isn't much activity. They do their devotional every day, they let my dad play the harmonica there because they can't let outside people come in for music and stuff like that. He played several times in different events, and on Veteran's Day, he played a patriotic one. They've been great. I think the activities are gonna be good once they have them.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My Mom is here. I wish she could be with a family member, but it isn't possible. Every time I visit the staff are friendly, smiling and seem to really care about the residents. It's clean, smells good and all residents appear happy and well cared for. I think it is very expensive, but I guess you pay for the quality. I miss my Mom because I don't live in Lincoln, but I am enjoying the peace of mind that comes with knowing she is safe and being treated well.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

First of all, at Tabitha, the outside of the building looks fairly welcoming, which is always a nice thing about assisted living providers. Also, right as you walk in, there is a friendly "shop" to the left, in which anyone can go and purchase candy bars, magazines, and other things like that. Another good thing about tabitha was the staff. I was told by my grandfather that they treated him quite well and he never had any complaints (except about the food) which is why it didn't make the 5 star rating. The food was ok, but not the best that it could be. Overall, definitely a decent place to stay for family members or even yourself if you ever need it!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

I really like this assisted living center. I have a dear friend who is currently staying here and I am very pleased with how I have seen her treated, as well as how staff has always treated me whenever I go to visit to her. The facilities seem clean and I can see the effort to involve residents in activities on a daily basis, decorate for holidays and just generally provide as optimistic and home-like an environment as possible. It seems that many of the residents have developed close, friend-like relationships with the staff and everyone is happy & patient. I've also seen special precautions taken to keep residents safe which is a real concern in these types of facilities sometimes.
