I visited this facility

I went to Orchard Park at Victory Lakes. It seems very nice and would suit my daughter's mother-in-law's needs. We liked it. I just came in contact with Stephanie, the community relations director. And she was very helpful and she didn't rush me or anything and took me to see the room that was available at that time. They were getting ready for availability, and it was very nice. It seemed like they had a lot of fun things to do. I saw the calendar for the month and they take them somewhere every Friday to the museums in Houston, or to Galveston to ride the ferry and go shopping. I liked their menu. I saw their menu, and then they also had a whole list of things that if you didn't like what they were having that day, you could choose something else, and I liked that. That was good. The facility was very clean, pleasant, and pretty.

The level of support at this facility is very poor; they make lots of promises, but almost never fulfill them. The food is mediocre at best. Cable TV options are limited. They claim to have 3 level of resident support services, but cannot define them....... Nice facility, but poorly run.

Orchard Park is by far the best facility. My mother in law is here and absolutely loves this place. They have constant activities and such a lovely environment. It is clean and beautiful which is such a plus. I would recommend anyone here- they have been great to our family.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

The lady at Orchard Park at Victory Lakes was very knowledgeable and answered all kinds of questions for us. We toured both assisted living and memory care and she gave us a step ahead on what we needed to know and understand about our long-term care insurance, so she was very helpful. The room just seemed kind of cramped for what we were hoping that we could put mom into, but other than that, it was nice.

Sad beyond belief

My mother was left unattended at Orchard Park despite being a known fall risk. She had a massive subdural hematoma after her last fall and died 3 days later. Different excuses were given as to why she was left alone in the community room. Additionally. we were told the cameras were not working. Later we were told the cameras were working but not recording. During her stay there, we met several family members of other residents who were also unhappy with the care there. They are understaffed, unsupervised, and dishonest. AVOID THIS PLACE.

We moved my husband to Orchard Park at Victory Lakes memory care because it's convenient for us, it's closer. Our experience has been very good. His room is very nice and they take good care of him. The maintenance is all good, and the staff is attending him very well and they're always there when he needs them. The place is clean, they're very attentive and they make sure he eats. It's much better than any place I've seen. You can go and visit your person there in their room any time you want. They have TV, they have snacks, they have physical therapy and their rooms have refrigerators. I haven't seen the food, but he's a very picky person, and he eats it. His room is always clean, when I come in there he's clean and the bathrooms are clean. At home here, he just stayed in his recliner, but up there he's in a wheelchair but he's walking around and he's out in the hallway visiting.

My mother is very happy at Orchard Park at Victory Lakes. She seems to be more pleased there than she was at home. Her medications still aren't correct, so I'm a little bit concerned about that, but the people seem awesome, and are very much trying. Her room is clean. They've got lots of activities, but she doesn't do them. Communication is good so far. They have physical therapy, a beauty salon, nursing care, a media room, transportation, a physician comes in, and a podiatrist comes in every three months. It's very friendly.

Provider Response

My father's girlfriend lives in Orchard Park at Victory Lakes. It's nice. It's clean, and the people are friendly. Their food is supposedly good. My father has eaten there. He has her calendar, and they have a lot of activities. They serve restaurant style meals. They have a menu, and people get to choose what they want to eat.

Provider Response

Thank you for the 5-star review, Jan. We are very happy to hear that your loved ones enjoy their time at Orchard Park at Victory Lakes. My mom is in Orchard Park right now. She has been there not even a week yet. So far, we are really happy with them. I like the people that work there. The facility is very nice. The dining room is very nice. They have a lot of activities for the residents. The nurses seem to be very helpful, and they're really good to Mom. It's very clean. The administrator is just awesome. They're just extremely awesome. They keep the place so clean, and it is up-to-date. It's pretty good. So far, I've been very happy with it. The place is really nice, and the only thing they could possibly have had was the swimming pool. I have not tried the food, but Mom's food looks really good. It smells good and looks good. For what it costs, I think it is comparable to everybody else. They had a special when I signed Mom up, which was pretty cool. It'd be nice if it was a little bit cheaper, but obviously I don't really think there are any around here that are cheaper. Their activities are awesome. I think their activities are amazing. I love their happy hour, which I think is so cute for the residents.

Provider Response

Hi Linda, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us such wonderful remarks in your review! We take pride in providing safe and fun activities to keep our community engaged and happy. Your feedback is encouraging and helpful to our process. Thank you for entrusting Orchard Park at Victory Lakes to take care of your loved one.

We took a tour of Orchard Park at Victory Lakes, and we've decided we would put my mother-in-law there. I like the people that were there and the employees. The director was very thorough on everything. The rooms were nice, and the bathrooms were nice. It was a real nice place. They have arts and crafts for them to do, and they had a beauty shop. I don't know what you would call it, it wasn't a church type thing. There was a place for different religions all in the same room. It was for people who wanted to go to church on Sunday. They can't go anywhere, so they have that thing. I think it was done on Saturday and Sunday that they had some type of Church meeting thing. It felt pretty homey, that's another reason why I'm putting her in there.

Orchard Park at Victory Lakes is great. The staff is very accommodating. My mother's room is really nice, it's got handicap bars, she can maneuver very well in it, and it's well maintained. The dining area is very nice, not too big, but big enough to accommodate all the residents. The food menu is very versatile. They offer lots of different things, and everything that I've eaten has been very good. She loves the food as well.

Provider Response

I wasn't impressed with Orchard Park at Victory Lakes, it was okay but I didn't see much of what was going on. They have an activity room which was small with nothing going on at the time. The actual staff was not busy, they were sitting around on their phones. The place itself was clean and the building was nice, with hallways that were nice, clean and pleasant.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to review our community, Rebecca. Your input, as well as the feedback from all of our residents and visitors, is very important to us; and it contributes to the ongoing improvements that our team is dedicated to. Orchard Park at Victory Lakes is really nice. My parents have their own apartment with a kitchenette, a living room, a bedroom, and a large handicap bathroom. They have people that check on them, help them with bathing and dressing, and they have a dining room. Their meals, laundry, and housekeeping are included. We've been very happy and very pleased with everything. They both seem to be enjoying it. My mother especially likes it because she doesn't have to cook or do dishes. They say the food is good, and they have activities going on. They have an activity room, a little lounge where they have popcorn, drinks and coffee, a library, and people come and offer services. There's a nurse on duty and they give them their medications for an extra charge. They have anywhere from no care needed or independent living to people who need a little care. They have an emergency alert system they can push if they need any help, and they respond very quickly. They have a hair salon. It's one story, and there are no steps at all, which is perfect. They have one of the lowest rates that we found in the area.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave us an amazing review! We are so happy to hear such positive feedback from your family's experience. We really take great pride in our ability to fulfill the different needs of our residents. Thank you or supporting our community, Orchard Park at Victory Lakes!

I visited this facility

I did not choose Orchard Park at Victory Lakes because their memory care was bad. It was small and all the residents that I saw were waiting for 15 minutes for their activity to begin. I had a resident tugging on my clothes asking me how to get out of there. They had a screamer. It was unfortunate, but the man screamed every five minutes. That would not have been an appropriate place to put my mother-in-law. I didn't have a comfortable feeling there. The staff member who showed me around was great. She apologized for the screamer. She was abrupt with the residents who were asking her why their activity was 15 minutes late, but she was a very nice lady and the place was very clean. It is so important for patients with dementia and Alzheimer's to be on a schedule and when the schedule is disruptive, it is unsettling for the residents, so that's something they really need to improve on.

Provider Response

Hello, Terri. Your feedback is very important to us, and we appreciate the time you took to provide it. It was lunchtime when we visited Orchard Park at Victory Lakes. The food looked good and fresh. The vegetables had good color. They were having spaghetti, and the place smelled very nice. There was nobody sitting by themselves. Everybody was chatting and happy. They had different activities going on. Everybody was engaged. If they were tired and wanted to go back to their room, they could do that, but they encourage them to do activities. The staff was very kind. Their kitchen was very clean, the rooms were a good size, and monitored. The ladies running it were top notch. We could get her out of there and take her somewhere. They sit right behind the hospital. The facility is brand new and beautiful.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a great review, Shauna! It takes a little getting used to for everyone involved. After a while she adjusted and so did the family. She now calls it home and we enjoy going to visit her, have lunch or Dinner with her. Lots of activities that she enjoys! Great caring staff with really great volunteers. The food is high Quality and very well organized!

We really liked the fact that Orchard Park at Victory Lakes was small. I was looking for memory care for my mom. She is not quite 100% memory care, but in the transitional phase. They have a program in place called Reflections that allows the residents to do as much as they possibly can with the assisted living community, but she still gets a lot of personalized attention and services that are within the memory care unit. She's still allowed to function at the level that she is and do more than the majority of the memory care folks can, so that was a big plus. They also have a very good ratio of caregivers to patients and the overall layout of the facility is very nice. They have lots of activities that they actually do. She gets to go on field trips through the memory care and through Reflections as well. They do hourly checks on all the residents. If you ask them what they've done during the day, they can tell you hour by hour. It's really good. The pricing is pretty standard for memory care. They can go into the courtyard and they have someone there watching the residents.

We haven't been really happy with Orchard Park at Victory Lakes. They let my mom's blood pressure get too low, and she had to go to the hospital. I don't think they're staffed enough to take care of everything that needs to be taken care of. The rooms are great though, and they got little refrigerators -- not the mini bar type, but the medium sized ones. They got a sink, cabinets, a bedroom, and a bathroom. They got handrails going down the hallways. The location is great, it's in a middle of a ritzy neighborhood, and they have courtyards on the inside of the cottages. There are rooms that open up into the courtyard, and the food is pretty good. The activities are good, and they get on a bus and go to places. We've had to constantly be there every day just to make sure they do things, and we don't have the confidence in them to not go by every day to check on my parents.

If they did what they promised, this would be a great place. The Care Staff is compassionate, but not well organized or trained. Our experience with manage, emt is that they are not honest. It appears as though they are cutting budget. At least the food quality is going down and the staff seems overworked. Look careful, but there are better places.

I have been staying at Orchard Park at Victory Lakes Assisted Living and Memory Care for two weeks now and have been treated very well. The staff has been very good. I will be staying here for three months for therapy. My room is the smallest one, which is very nice. The price is reasonable, too. They have a gym where I do my therapy, which is working for me. The dining room is very nice and homey, and the food is very good. We have activities going on every day.

I visited another facility. It's a new memory care facility in League City. It is a locked down facility for Alzheimer's. I actually am thinking about sending my husband there when I'm ready to place him. It is new so it is pretty and clean. Everyone is friendly. What I did not like about them and currently holding me back is that you have to furnish the room. They don't have rooms that you can move right into that are already furnished. Since it has a locked down facility for Alzheimer's patients, the place is more appropriate for me.

I am very concerned about the level of care at this facility. They do not respond for extended time after the person pushes his/her call button. Twice recently I ended up getting the person on and off the toilet. I have no proper training and fear I am going to cause my friend to take a fall. The staff is very pleasant but the facility is understaffed creating a less than adequate wait time. The facility is clean and the apartments are very nice. If they could provide better assistance to the residents this would be an ideal place for a senior member of your family to live.

Orchard Park at VL is a great place for my Mom. The communication between staff and me is first rate. All staff are approachable and knowledgeable. All staff really take the time to get to know my Mom and genuinely care about her. My Mom has enjoyed living there. It's clean and everything works. Any and all of my comments and concerns have been addressed quickly. Staff seem to enjoy being there. Highly recommend.

I didn't like Orchard Parks. The rooms were small. The basic care was very expensive and everything else was an add-on charge. They were still building it and they weren't ready to open. They just had a walk thru and didn't have anything else. It just wasn't a good open house.
