Colonial assisted living has gotten horrible since they brought in the new head Ana. Since then my mother has been overmedicated. Ana had her sign papers so they could control her social security without notifying family. My mother is blind and had no idea what she was signing. I moved her out and now she is thriving.

My brother is a resident there and has been for about 3 years. He has been a resident at two other ALFs previously, but this is the one that he likes the best. Anything he needs is taken care of by the staff. There is a very good and capable doctor taking care of the residents there when in need as well as the nursing staff. The residents receive laundry and housekeeping services at no additional cost as well as many activities available for residents to participate in. The calendar is always full of events including gatherings several times a year for family and residents to include delicious food the facility provides for these events. There is a memory care unit for those residents who need it staffed by very capable people. Most importantly besides the good care, the rent is surprisingly very affordable for all of the perks this facility provides; hence, a 5-star rating. Do yourself a favor (and the potential resident) and check out Colonial Assisted Living at Fort Lauderdale.

The place we're looking at that I really liked was Colonial Assisted Living. The area it's in is not that great, but the facility is excellent, and they are adding a memory care unit. It was extremely clean and the staff was very nice. The people were a little more alert, it was a smaller place, it was more intimate, and it was nice.
