I’m in St. Joseph’s Residence. It’s a completely gated community. I love it; it’s everything I expected. I’m so comfortable here. It’s a community, so it’s nice. We have 3 meals a day in the dining room. We have activities. I go out shopping once a week, and we go out to eat a couple of times a month to restaurants. Most Catholics find it very comfortable here because they have a chapel. We go to mass almost everyday. They have some activities like bingo. They give you snacks. They have a movie once a week. They do the laundry once a week. They come and change your bed once a week. They vacuum and clean everything.
I got a very good apartment. I have a kitchen. They’re nice-sized rooms, and they’re essentially air-conditioned. I’m on the fourth floor, so I have a nice view. The nurses come in, and they check every 2 hours to see if everything is OK. They help me take a shower because I can fall. I need somebody with me, and they help me dress. I like the atmosphere. The people are nice. The nurses are very good.
They not only have assisted living here, but if there was anything wrong with me, they have a rehabilitation center which is St. Anthony’s in the same enclosed area. They also have a nursing home, after that, they have a hospice not far, and after that, they have a cemetery.
