I'm very satisfied with Desert Peaks Assisted Living & Memory Care. It has the most home-like appeal for me. My dad is a rancher, and I was looking for something that seemed comfortable; Desert Peaks fits the bill. They're very professional, but not too institutional-like. The food varies. If dad does not care for the food, they offer alternatives, and they make every effort to provide him with something nutritious that he will eat. In the memory care unit, Dad has a semi-private room, which is pretty small. I just don't feel comfortable with him in there, although they have a very nice common area. If they could offer private rooms in the memory care, that would be better. There are only 10 people in their unit, and the bedrooms are in one little hallway. The dining and the living area are easily accessible.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a review. We appreciate your feedback on your experience—we work very hard to create an environment that is warm, friendly, comfortable and as home-like as possible. We are glad that you found that country home-like setting here. Memory Care is a little smaller in apartment size, we realize. Because those with cognitive impairments function at a higher level when they stay engaged with others, we encourage them to be out in the common areas more than in their own sleeping areas where they can get isolated, even with a roommate. We understand this may not be ideal for everyone, but am glad that you are pleased with the common areas since we do encourage activity and socialization as often as possible. Feel free to stop by and chat anytime if you have any further concerns, feedback or suggestions. Thanks again for your time!
