I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband was recently at Providence Place in Memory Care. The care and support of my husband by the entire staff was excellent. The staff went beyond and above to ensure he was taken care of 24 hours a day. The family was supported as well and shown understanding, support and love the entire time he was there. Every question was answered and addressed no matter what time it was. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was calming and relaxing which was important to the care of my husband. No matter what he needed, it was provided. Thank you to everyone for supporting our family through our difficult time

I visited this facility

I went to Providence Place Senior Living of Lancaster. There was very positive staff and very friendly. They were informative and honest about the pros and cons of the place. The room was fine; it had all of the basics. For each level of care, the building goes from the top floor, which is the most independent. As you take an elevator down each floor, it's more and more care; so you're in a basement level for memory care, and that felt a little depressing. If you are living in a particular area, you are restricted to the area; so the independent people, they have their own cafeteria. It's very, very lively. You can see lots of social chatter. You can tell that the staff there are very friendly and caring about the people eating. The ones who are higher need are just sitting silently at their table, where some living places have everyone mixed together. I think it would help engage folks who still are capable of even a minimum level of engagement. They had a nice social space with a little kitchen where people meet. The laundry facilities and things were fine. In order to get outside, there's an enclosed outdoor garden area that would be fantastic; but you have to have a key code to get outside, and you have to be supervised. So in reality for most people, it means they won't go outside. It was a positive and a negative. The cafeteria looked clean. It was for eating. There wasn't a lot of interaction, and those are patients that won't be able to socialize in some cases. It looked like they had a nice menu of options.

My husband and I moved his Mother into Country Meadows last summer and she absolutely loves it there and so do we! The entire staff is so caring, from Management to the nurses, and the kitchen staff! And they have wonderful food there, I've eaten with my Mother in Law (MIL) several times for lunch and dinner. In fact, we had Thanksgiving dinner there (real Turkey and stuffing) which was wonderful! My MIL's room is bigger than our living room! I can't say enough about the special things they also do for the residents. You can have pets there and they will even take care of them if you have to be in the hospital for any length of time. They have a dedicated driver to take your loved ones to any doctor appointments within 10 miles of the home. They have social hour every day and games IF you want to play. They have 2 small buses to take your loved ones to shows or out to lunch or breakfast occasionally. Lots of activities (Bingo, beach volleyball, puzzles) going on IF you want to participate. Lots of different inspirational speakers come in and talk. A Preacher is on staff there and has weekly devotions and church services. I have gotten to know the staff there like they are family! I encourage anyone to consider placing their loved ones into this facility, you won't regret it! Karen L

My mom was at the Country Meadows Lancaster location for two weeks of respite care recently. It couldn't have gone better. Every staff member we met was professional, extremely courteous and friendly, and helpful. Her room was clean and well appointed for her short stay, so she was very comfortable. I was able to have two weeks without any worries at all about the quality of care she was receiving. She was included in so many activities and warmly welcomed to them by other residents as well as the staff. She loves being around other people and really enjoyed all the activity and friendly faces. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to have her stay again.

Provider Response

I visited this facility

We liked Country Meadows, they have a brand new independent living wing which was really nice, and the layout was really nice, too. They offered services like helping with showering, and bathing. The rooms were beautiful, you get a living room, and a bedroom, and you can choose to furnish it yourself, or they can furnish it for you.

I visited this facility

I went to Country Meadows because this was within a mile away from me. The furnishings and stuff were a little softer than the other one, and they seemed to have a lot of activities. They also have physical therapy that people were hanging around and doing some hand therapy. The hall seemed crowded, but they did have benches and stuff in the hall. The staff was very knowledgeable. The dining area was more like a restaurant that had a carpeted area, and the chairs looked less cafeteria-like. It was a range off of a spoke with the dining area and the lobby and stuff in the middle, so I didn’t feel there would be so much walking for my mom.

Provider Response

Thank you for touring our Lancaster campus. As you saw, Country Meadows has a fitness center managed by a full-time fitness professional. In addition to weight training and exercise classes, residents often go on outings to walk in parks and other public areas. And we have walking paths on campus, both inside and out. Please reach out to us with any additional questions.

I visited this facility

The people at Country Meadows were very pleasant. We saw the programs and the care that they have. The place is very clean and neat. Every worker was very pleasant, and all greeted dad. We saw the rooms, and it is a shared room. There is a concrete pathway, and there were flowers and trees. There is a gazebo where you can sit and talk. They have programs every afternoon, and that was sort of like a general assembly where clients will come in and hear music and singing. On our tour, we saw that they were doing artwork. Everything I saw was good, and there was nothing there that I didn’t like. Plus it is about 20 minutes away from us.

Provider Response

Thank you for your note. Our number one priority at Country Meadows is quality of life for our wonderful residents. Thank you for noticing! In addition to wonderful residents, we are blessed with exceptional co-workers who truly enjoy providing care, getting to know each and every person living in our community. Please contact us if you need anything.

I am a past client of this provider

My mom has Alzheimer's and she went into Country Meadows for respite care. The food was excellent, the staff was well-trained, and the rooms were clean. They also have church services and physical activities every day. However, they could improve on the cost.

Overall I was very happy with the facilities and how they had treated my family members there. The place was very nicely decorated and everything was nice and clean. The staff were super friendly and always were there to help. They were also very accommodating with guests visiting for special occasions like birthdays. They had a lot of different types of activities to keep the residents busy, like crafts, church, card games and sports activities. They really try to appeal to the interests and hobbies of all of the people who are living there. For every meal the residents were given different choices for what they wanted to eat. It is great that they are allowing the people to still make their own choices in their lives even though they cannot take care of themselves anymore. They even had a nice outdoor patio area that was being remodeled.I would recommend this assisted care facility to other people.

I've visited the place and it's actually nice. The people and staff are very friendly. The staff who showed us around was very responsive and answered all our questions. And they provide different levels of assistance. They keep their residents very busy and have a specific fitness program. The place is clean and well kept. It's actually very nice. We haven't got any chance to check other facilities, but I like the place.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Country Meadows is a very welcoming and comfortable environment and I've had nothing but good experiences in my dealings with it. After investigating the homes in the area, my wife and I decided to relocate my grandma Maryann to this facility some three years ago. We still go there and visit her fairly often. The staff is very kind and engaging. They tend to us with patience and understanding whenever we visit and I am told they do the same for Maryann. The grounds themselves are nice and spacious and seem to serve their purpose well. I feel like I'm entering a fancy hotel when I walk in and the living quarters are very well-equipped. My only issue would be that it seems there is very little for the residents to do while they stay there. Many of the residents are disabled in some way and are unable to interact in any significant way with others, so there isn't much sense of community between many of the people who live in Country Meadows. However, in all ways, it is a nice, luxurious place, and it suits the needs of the residents who live there.

I would highly recommend visiting this facility. We were favorably impressed with the level of activities going on. We did have a chance to try out the food and it was really good...much better than we were anticipating. Staff is very friendly and seem to enjoy working there. The decor is very warm and homey...everything looks new. When the time comes they are on the top of our list. Looked at 5 other facilites in Lancaster. My neighbor's mom lives there and she says she loves it.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My best friend's mother stayed at this facility for about 6 months before she moved to New York. Country Meadows is a beautiful place. The grounds are well kept and the gardens are beautiful. There are nice sitting areas outside that they can sit, take in some fresh air and relax. The staff seemed pretty nice too for the short time that I interacted with them and my friend never complained about any kind of bad treatment or rudeness. I didn't give them 5 stars because when we went there, Ms. Mary (my friend's mother) was just sitting in a chair not really doing anything and it seemed as if no one was really attending to her. I guess it's not that bad considering that she said they had just given her a bath and lunch a bit earlier in the day. The place is also not overcrowded so the residents often get personal attention from the assistants and nurses, even though not as often as we would give them at home. It's not the ideal place but it's not bad either.

Visited this facility

I live on the other side of the country in California but my family is from PA. I know that my grandmother had been admitted to assisted living as my parents had much too busy of lives to be able to take care of her. When I visited two Christmases ago I wanted to see my grandmother who I had not seen in about 10 years. I didn't know what to expect, I wasn't quite sure what assisted living was, but always just felt like it would be an "old people home". I expected to find depressed old people sitting around in bathrobes and slippers. What I found however was a wonderful home whereby the elderly who could no longer take care of themselves were able to do as they pleased but when they needed a hand the caring and attentive staff would jump in. There were also organize games which all of the residents seemed to enjoy and light them up. Also they property was beautiful with well maintained lawns, gardens and ponds. It was a pleasure to visit and to see that my grandmother was doing well at Country Meadows.

Friend or relative of resident

The staff at Country Meadows has been caring for my Aunt Gracie since late last year. She has Alzheimer's and does not remember most of us anymore. She is very weak and the nurses have been more than patient with us and my Aunt. I always have so many questions when I go in and they have always made me feel like they are genuinely concerned for my Aunt as much as I am. They remembered all of our names which is great because it makes us feel so welcome. My only worry about the place is the fact that my Aunt never seems to have anything to do. She is always just sitting around doing nothing and no one is around her. I'm sure they are busy with residents who need help but I just wish someone would sit with her for awhile when we are not there. All in all, it's a fine place and I would recommend it to others.

Country Meadows appears to be a very luxurious living environment at first glance. First and foremost, the complex itself is wonderful. The living quarters are spacious and beautiful and the environment as a whole is very comforting and relaxing. Unfortunately, the care at this facility is unreliable and irresponsibly maintained. In my experience, it has seemed almost as though the very roles of the employees themselves are organized in such a way that nobody will be held responsible for addressing concerns when they arise, requiring the most superfluous possible series of steps be taken in order to correct problems as they occur. I was forced to pull my mother out of this facility after discovering her caretakers had repeatedly been feeding her in ways contrary to her diet requirements and lying brazenly about the behavior in order to shirk responsibility from amongst themselves. Even after bringing up issues with higher degrees of management I was made privy to similar treatment rather than compensated in any way. No admissions of the facility's guilt were ever made and I was instead subjected to repeated denials and baseless accusations of misunderstanding. I absolutely do not recommend this facility and strongly advise against trusting any claims it makes.
