I know Brethren Village because we live in the community. We had a nice tour around. It met most of what we were looking for in the size of the apartment, the number of rooms, the cost, and the fact that because it's church-affiliated it would never really run out of money. They would support you if your funds ran out and it had a continuum of care if my aunt needed more than assisted living.
The staff is very nice. I know several people who live there independently. They have very good things to say about the café that's there. It's open to people from the outside if they wanted to go in. They had a variety of things. There was a craft room. They had day trips. There was someone there giving manicures to the ladies when we happened to tour it.
I like the size of the apartment. The fact that she could have a separate sitting room, a little tiny kitchen, and a separate bedroom, and that it was bright and sunny, was one of the nicest features that I found. There is a shopping center across the street. They have like a pizza place, an Asian restaurant, a yogurt stand, and a dry cleaner.

Brethren Village is too big for me, like living in a city. The facilities are nice, but it seemed awfully big, and I'm not used to apartment living. Its location is good. It's very clean, and from what I understand, they have all kinds of activities. I guess they were all in their rooms there. There were very few things happening at that time.
