I visited this facility

I toured The Ridge at Lancaster. It's nice and it's close to everything like grocery shopping. It's close to all the stuff. They're close to places where you can eat out, too. They had studio and one-bedroom units. But there was a miscommunication between the two of us. I thought we were accepted, but I never heard back from them again. It's still a good facility but I don't know what the situation is there.

I visited this facility

The Ridge at Lancaster was a lot smaller than the other ones, but they were friendly. They're just costly. I had to get toured by the maintenance man because there was a miscommunication or whatever, and we found out later they let him go. They were pretty nice to the residents that I did see him make contact with. We had a guy tripping down in a little outside area. They have a little court inside the building, and I got to see a guy using his walker. It's one big circle. I've seen a studio and a one-bedroom. I don't know if they had other ones, and they were taken, but those were the samples they had that people could get. They had a beauty salon. They did not have physical therapy there like the others did, but they would arrange for physical therapy to come in. They were confused if they would be able to help with transportation or not for my mom's dialysis. The nurses were saying one thing and the maintenance man was saying another. The handyman was really polite and the nurses were respectful. They were just confused on what exactly was going on there.

I visited this facility

I had a walk through tour at The Ridge at Lancaster. A lot of the rooms are empty right now because they're doing construction, redoing the rooms, and so there were several hallways that had no residents in them. One of their staff was involved with the admission so I talked to the activity director. She did the tour and I spent most of the time with her. They sent me out with a plate of chocolate chip cookies and it was all covered and contained, so I thought that was sweet. The doorwarys that went to the garden area were not accessible. One was because the construction people were back in that area, the other one was through their sun room, and it is where they did their visits and there was a visit going on in there. They are redoing the rooms and they're doing a nice job. I would say they are good room sizes. They got walk-in closets, which is very helpful. I could actually walk into the room, so that gave me a better idea. There was some trash around the outside because they do have construction workers all around the outside and inside, but it's now very clean. The common areas that I walked by looked very clean.

I am/was a resident of this facility

The place went downhill dramatically in 2019 when the management company changed for the third time in 3 years. When I decided to live there it was called Brookdale and I was promised my room rate would remain the same as long as I was there. The new management company raised my rate $600 a month. The rooms are overpriced and desperately need work. The aide staff was mostly friendly bu did not change my depends nearly as often as they should have and as a result I got sores. I am now in a much better place with a bigger room and better staff for less money. Don't go here if you have any other option

Brookdale is very clean. She has her own private, little apartment with a bedroom, living room, and kitchenette. It’s perfect for her. The staff has been wonderful.

I visited this facility

I've visited Sterling House of Lancaster, and I like the facility. It's very clean. I was just not ready to use it yet, but I think this would be the one for me if I need a place. This is a pretty new facility. The director is very personable. I asked a lot of people about their food, and they said the food was great. I saw a two-bedroom as well as a one-bedroom room, and they are not that big, but they are comfortable. They have different in-house activities. They play games and cards. They have a bus that takes the residents to day trips. They go to theaters.

This was one of the communities that we would not consider. The rooms we saw could not accommodate both of us.

I visited this facility

Visited on July 9, 2013 but did not enter due to a notice of GI within. Nice facility from what I viewed. Newer for the area. I contacted Mike via e-mail and he was kind enough to send me the brochure on-line. My brother and I are looking for our mom and sister. After receiving the brochure I can see that it will not fit their needs as the apartments are very small ranging from 288 sq. ft. to 360 sq. ft.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My grandmother lived at the Sterling House of Lancaster before. It's a pretty place, definitely more homey than some others that I have seen. She liked that they had private apartments, so it wasn't like living in a big dorm or a hospital. I think the feeling of still having her own place helped her a lot. She always said the people working there were very nice and understanding, too. I think just the fact that she even let them help her, says a lot about how good the staff is, because she was very proud and never liked to accept help from anyone. It was a good place for her, and she enjoyed being able to socialize with other people while she was there.
