I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

very few in house staff. Mostly agency cna's and nurses that do not know anything about the patients or their needs. Very seldom get the same cna twice. Nursing and cns staff is not consistent. Regular in house cna's and nurses may have too much of a work load, that they do not give the patient much time. Most of the time the agency cna's seems to think they are just babysitting, as I've observed some of them setting in the hall on their phone, I even seen one sitting watching a movie, while I'm doing her job for my loved one. This place has no supervision. Years ago Cornerstone was THE senior care facility, not any more.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom lived in Cornerstone at the Ranch. She was in rehab there. The only thing I can say about that facility is it is an older facility. It doesn't have as fine a reputation in town as it used to. It had been private pay, and it became a Medicare facility. It was Medicare because she came from the hospital. It was a positive experience. When you are an elderly person, and when you go to rehab at a regular rehab hospital, they don't always care for you understanding that you are elderly, so the thing about Cornerstone was they understood what she could do, they didn't push her too hard, but they would give her lots and lots of encouragement, like, "Yes, you can do it." The staff understood that this is an elderly population, and so it was like the right kind of environment for someone who needed assistance in ways that weren't necessarily related to rehab. And rehab hospitals don't always have activities, but she could go to activities that she wanted. They had like a group that would come in and sing for them and just do things to keep the spirits up. A lot of people go there, and this was their first experience outside of their own home, and many of them at the end of their stay were facing the fact that they probably would need to leave their own homes and live in assisted living, and so the staff did a really great job of helping them understand that it's not the end of the world to move out of your house. My mom had already been living in the assisted living side, so she was kind of a cheerleader. The rehab was good, and my mom recovered really well, and a lot of it is just great emotional care and encouragement. We chose to have a private room. I think Medicare pays for a double room, but they didn't have that many people there at the time, so they made sure that she was able to get a room by herself.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom is currently staying at the Bethany Rehabilitation Center of Cornerstone at the Ranch. It's usually very hard to get in contact with somebody there by phone. A lot of times when I call, it takes a long time to reach somebody, and then when I call and talk to someone and I ask them to call me back, they never usually do. The communication is very poor. They need to improve on communication, callbacks, follow-up, stuff like that. Mom has mixed comments about the food, sometimes the food is good, sometimes not, because of her diet. It seemed like a pretty clean facility. It's close to my home.

Father was very ill. Was admitted in Cornerstone Skilled Nursing facility. Had been on life support two weeks earlier. Did not receive much nursing care at all. We stayed with him 24 hours a day to be sure he was cared for and watched. Our Father almost died in their care. We decided to call 911 to ensure he would not die while there. Within 4 days after “we” chose to call 911, our father was back on life support. Be proactive with your loved ones.

I visited this facility

Cornerstone Village South is privately owned and has assisted, independent and nursing home. The facility is a little old, but the assisted living quarters were the largest I have seen. It's very large, like a small apartment. The staff seemed to be very knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. The whole facility smelled good. It's in a great location for me. They have a rehab center there too which is good. The food looked good. The dining area is huge. They could probably do a little updating on the outside and in the garden. I probably would recommend it, but it depends how picky you are about the newness of a building.

I visited this facility

Cornerstone Village is a little older, and it’s a clean facility. They had a friendly staff, very nice rooms and apartments, and a very nice dining area, and it was the largest of the five that I visited. They gave me a lunch, and it was fine. They had some scheduled visits and events. It was the only one out of a bunch where every apartment had an exit to a patio area. There was an entry from a hallway, but at the end of the living area, there was a door to a large patio area shared by several other apartments, and it was very nice.

The manager gave me a walk through the unit and answered my questions. I was very pleased with it. They're very courteous. I was struck by the fact that the building itself was nice and very clean, the corridors were wide, and the place was well lit. I got the impression that Cornerstone was a well-run organization.

My husband was a Eucharistic minister for our church and he would occasionally bring communion to some of the residents at Cornerstone Village. My husband and I attended mass there. It seemed to be a very nice and cheerful place.

I visited this facility

When I visited Cornerstone Village, it was very clean. The staff seemed attentive and friendly. My grandma shared a room temporarily with another woman, separated by a curtain. The whole experience gave me a hospital-type feel. The outside had pretty little gardens that people could enjoy. My grandma didn't mind the food but it wasn't liked by everyone. It was very easy to find her room, the staff helped whenever we asked for anything. It wasn't too far from where I lived, so visiting wasn't a hassle. They offered alot of things, including physical therapy, which was what she needed at the time. They advertise at the entrance of the building how it is family owned and operated, but you could really see that in this case. It was cool to see that they provided her with meals and laundry service, stuff like that. Before she stayed there, I never knew what went on in retirement places/hospices. Overall I enjoyed my visit and it was made better by seeing a smile on my grandmas face.
