My father-in-law is at Plymouth Place. I think at this point we are very happy with Plymouth Place. We like their cleanliness, and their staff seems very, very professional very nice. I think they're doing the best they can with my father-in-law. There are beauty salons, and they have church like once a week there. They have lots of activities for the patients and the lady who handles all those activities is nice. Plus, the food is above average. My father-in-law is in a double room, and it's okay. They keep it clean.

Most disappointed. My 97 year old Mom was refused without explanation despite insurance coverage. We will make other arrangements.

We, my brother, sister and I, encouraged our parents to move to Plymouth Place. There were many benefits to this community! It was in the same neighborhood, many activities were offered for enjoyment, a garage was available for their car, the apartment included a full kitchen so dad could still cook and he was a fabulous cook. It also offered guest rooms available for out of town guests and included future care for my dad. As dad's needs changed he was transferred to the 3rd floor for nursing care, which over the next 2.5 years became his full time care. Mother was able to be with him as much as possible (except for sleeping together). With this wonderful care dad lived to be 95. Now, mother who is 95 is in need of care. Being at Plymouth Place she can remain in her own apartment, as her needs change, for the rest of her life. This means a great deal to her and to all of us in the family. The outreach and care of the Plymouth Place workers is sincere, meaningful, and helpful. Our family has been very happy that our parents made the decision to move here.

Making the move to Plymouth Place has been an excellent decision. It is a decision I made at 72 years old when I could enjoy the best of both worlds...my world before Plymouth Place, and my world at Plymouth Place. This graduated care community meets my long and short term needs as well as providing a wealth of new friends and activities. During my research I investigated five similar places both in the LaGrange area as well as the Wheaton/Naperville areas where I had lived for over 45 years. Additionally I read up on several other places as well. The bottom line reasons for my choosing Plymouth Place are the services it provides, the fact that it is a non-profit well run organization, its location – walk to downtown La Grange, to the train etc, and the variety and quality of care provided. The resident population here is amazing. I have met and become acquainted with people who have enormous talent, hobbies, skills, and enjoy laughter and fun. The fact that one chooses to move into a graduated care facility doesn’t mean a lower quality of life - if anything it is an interesting new chapter with new friends. There are very few activities that one can’t find here. Crafts, theatre, movies, trips (both in the area and abroad), programs (professional and resident talent), volunteer opportunities in a variety of ways, fitness programs that can be designed for the individual or group classes are just a few of the many interests one can pursue here. The staff here is more than capable and willing to help with most anything. They are professional as well as friendly and down to earth. Whatever issues Plymouth Place may face, it is good to know the Board and staff are working in our best interests. Do we agree on all of the issues – no, but there is a sense that residents are very much a-part of the decision making process. All in all, it is a pleasure to be part of this community and a comfort to know that my current and future needs will be met. That is important to me since I have no children and do not want my nephews and niece to bear the burden of my care. I highly recommend Plymouth Place.

If you are looking for skilled care, do not choose this facility. Doctor's orders are implemented only with the input of family. A family member can inform one nurse of essential nursing needs prescribed by a doctor, and a different nurse the next day will have no knowledge of it, and on down the line with the several different nurses. Nursing is lackadaisical, as are safety procedures. It should not be up to the family to make sure doctor's orders are being carried out. This is what you will encounter at Plymouth Place. Nursing staff takes offense when you point out shortcomings in the patient's care, and they do not follow through. You pay an awful lot of money at Plymouth Place just to have meds passed out. There really is no other nursing care and you cannot depend on the staff to monitor any new conditions or worsening of conditions that might develop--though that is what their website claims they do.

Plymouth Place was extremely nice. I cannot say anything bad about it. The people all looked happy and prosperous. The apartments were spacious and nice. The food and the activities were both very good. They did not have a swimming pool.
