I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father-in-law is at Plymouth Place. I think at this point we are very happy with Plymouth Place. We like their cleanliness, and their staff seems very, very professional very nice. I think they're doing the best they can with my father-in-law. There are beauty salons, and they have church like once a week there. They have lots of activities for the patients and the lady who handles all those activities is nice. Plus, the food is above average. My father-in-law is in a double room, and it's okay. They keep it clean.

Most disappointed. My 97 year old Mom was refused without explanation despite insurance coverage. We will make other arrangements.

We, my brother, sister and I, encouraged our parents to move to Plymouth Place. There were many benefits to this community! It was in the same neighborhood, many activities were offered for enjoyment, a garage was available for their car, the apartment included a full kitchen so dad could still cook and he was a fabulous cook. It also offered guest rooms available for out of town guests and included future care for my dad. As dad's needs changed he was transferred to the 3rd floor for nursing care, which over the next 2.5 years became his full time care. Mother was able to be with him as much as possible (except for sleeping together). With this wonderful care dad lived to be 95. Now, mother who is 95 is in need of care. Being at Plymouth Place she can remain in her own apartment, as her needs change, for the rest of her life. This means a great deal to her and to all of us in the family. The outreach and care of the Plymouth Place workers is sincere, meaningful, and helpful. Our family has been very happy that our parents made the decision to move here.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Making the move to Plymouth Place has been an excellent decision. It is a decision I made at 72 years old when I could enjoy the best of both worlds...my world before Plymouth Place, and my world at Plymouth Place. This graduated care community meets my long and short term needs as well as providing a wealth of new friends and activities. During my research I investigated five similar places both in the LaGrange area as well as the Wheaton/Naperville areas where I had lived for over 45 years. Additionally I read up on several other places as well. The bottom line reasons for my choosing Plymouth Place are the services it provides, the fact that it is a non-profit well run organization, its location – walk to downtown La Grange, to the train etc, and the variety and quality of care provided. The resident population here is amazing. I have met and become acquainted with people who have enormous talent, hobbies, skills, and enjoy laughter and fun. The fact that one chooses to move into a graduated care facility doesn’t mean a lower quality of life - if anything it is an interesting new chapter with new friends. There are very few activities that one can’t find here. Crafts, theatre, movies, trips (both in the area and abroad), programs (professional and resident talent), volunteer opportunities in a variety of ways, fitness programs that can be designed for the individual or group classes are just a few of the many interests one can pursue here. The staff here is more than capable and willing to help with most anything. They are professional as well as friendly and down to earth. Whatever issues Plymouth Place may face, it is good to know the Board and staff are working in our best interests. Do we agree on all of the issues – no, but there is a sense that residents are very much a-part of the decision making process. All in all, it is a pleasure to be part of this community and a comfort to know that my current and future needs will be met. That is important to me since I have no children and do not want my nephews and niece to bear the burden of my care. I highly recommend Plymouth Place.

If you are looking for skilled care, do not choose this facility. Doctor's orders are implemented only with the input of family. A family member can inform one nurse of essential nursing needs prescribed by a doctor, and a different nurse the next day will have no knowledge of it, and on down the line with the several different nurses. Nursing is lackadaisical, as are safety procedures. It should not be up to the family to make sure doctor's orders are being carried out. This is what you will encounter at Plymouth Place. Nursing staff takes offense when you point out shortcomings in the patient's care, and they do not follow through. You pay an awful lot of money at Plymouth Place just to have meds passed out. There really is no other nursing care and you cannot depend on the staff to monitor any new conditions or worsening of conditions that might develop--though that is what their website claims they do.

Plymouth Place was extremely nice. I cannot say anything bad about it. The people all looked happy and prosperous. The apartments were spacious and nice. The food and the activities were both very good. They did not have a swimming pool.

I thought Plymouth Place was a very nice place. It was an excellent facility. It really was like the Cadillac of nursing homes or as assisted living or independent living. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I have no qualms about going there for rehab, and if I ever needed independent or assisted living, I probably would consider them, but I don't think I can afford it. They seemed to have a lot of good activities for the residents. They had movies, bingo, and arts classes. One of my friends was in there for rehab on her knee. I visited her, we were talking, and all of a sudden it was time for her art class. I have not eaten there, but my friend said it was like going to a five-star restaurant. She said the food was absolutely fantastic.

My mom stayed in Plymouth Place for about a month. She did okay there. Their CNAs were excellent. What stood out especially with this place was its cleanliness. It was a very clean community. Would I recommend this place? Yes, I would! It is an excellent facility.

My mom has Alzheimers/vascular dementia and needs constant supervision and assistance with all activities of daily living. Plymouth Place and their memory support unit, Greg's Place, is the closest thing to home I could ever want for her. The staff and caregivers are incredibly KIND people with respect for every one of their charges. My mom is content and happy living in her "moment". In the face of a devastating disease, I could not have asked for a more comforting place.

The time I spent at this facility was short, but it will surely lead to future visits. The amenities that were provided to residents included activities intended to improve both their mental and physical abilities. I have heard stories about other facilities where residents were placed in large numbers in a room with one TV and was glad to see this was not the case. I was surprised to see a high number of staff that catered to the needs of all the residents. A downside to my visit was seeing how small each room was and how cramped the hallways and public areas were. I cannot personally speak about the food quality but I was told directly that the menu changed frequently and was consistently mediocre. Parking for this facility was not ample, but seemed sufficient enough for a weekday visitor like myself. My next visit will surely bring a smile to many of the residents.

I visited this facility

While driving through the western suburbs of Chicago, we decided to stop in and visit Plymouth Place, since we were looking for an assisted living facility where our aunt could live. We were impressed that they could accommodate our last-minute visit. The area is convenient for our aunt, who has many friends in the area. The main area seemed clean and well tended. The staff was very nice and seemed to treat the residents kindly. They also accommodate most senior circumstances with a variety of living options available. We thought our aunt would like the little park area outside, which was close to the main door. We also thought it looked as though the staff could easily manage all of the residents, which is important to us. Our aunt has a tendency to wander off at times, so her safety is a concern for us. They have a variety of the typical activities that assisted living facilities usually have "“ plus more and they take suggestions from family, friends and residents. The food looked well-prepared and appetizing and smelled very good. The dining room had a homey, nice vibe with comfortable furnishings. The rooms we saw were all nicely decorated "“ and better looking than the main room we first saw. The exercise room was well equipped and offered classes regularly. The book selection, which is important to our aunt "“ was quite nice. Overall, the facility looked like a nice place to live for seniors and the staff was very accommodating.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

Plymouth place, located in LaGrange, Illinois, is a recently-updated facility. My drandfather was a resident there for almost 10 years before his death in 2010. At first I thought it was upsetting to have a family member in a nursing home. It had originally scared me to think that my loved one was nearing death. Plymouth Place was a very inviting place that put all those fears to rest. They are a full in-house care center, and all of the staff are very friendly. There are a variety of different activities for the elderly to participate in, and there are different activities for those with different ability levels. Some even invited family members to participate in. Eventually, some of the staff knew my family by name, and we ended up staying in close contact with some of them even after my grandfather died. We still get Christmas cards from them. In conclusion, I believe that Plymouth Place is one of the finest nursing home and care facilities in the Midwest.

This is a continuing care retirement community a couple of blocks, an easy walking distance, from downtown LaGrange. It is situated on the edge of the business district, in safe suburban area. While there is a rooftop deck, and a nicely planted garden/sitting area out front of the building, it more resembles a hotel-style where the focus is upon having all major amenities accessible indoors. This includes having the independent living apartments, assisted living apartments, dementia assisted living apartments, and skilled nursing home all under the same roof as is the bistro, indoor pool, exercise areas, libraries (there are multiple libraries) and extensive, grand common areas. The staff of the entire complex are quite professional and appropriately responsive to resident and visitor needs as would be expected in this upscale setting. Interactions here often resemble those one encounters interacting with a fine hotel staff. This is a very large place that provides tours and marketing events fairly often; they are worth checking out so long as one is aware that premium amenities do have a premium price tag attached. The apartments, whether independent or assisted, are available in a number of different sizes and configurations. All are nicely done and moderately upscale, meaning not quite as fancy as the common areas, but tastefully nice. The nursing home unit is well staffed and generally well run, located on the third floor. The food is above average to excellent, as served in assisted living or nursing home care. Nursing home rooms are of average size, with both shared and private rooms available. Of course continuing care community residents have the first dibs on accessing nursing home care.
