I toured Arbor Village Senior Living. It was beautiful and very welcoming. They had three buildings: one for assisted living, one for independent living, and the other one was for memory care. The 1-bedroom apartments were outstandingly beautiful and really large. I was surprised how large it was. They didn't have studio rooms on the independent living side, which was what I was looking for. It was only available for assisted living. The staff that spoke with me was the one in charge. She was so nice and told me everything she could, and answered all my questions. I met the staff that was in charge of exercises. I also met the staff that was in charge of everything else that you needed, wanted help with, or wanted to experience there. They were very helpful. The kitchen in the apartment had everything, and I loved the bathrooms because they had everything that you would require in a bathroom. They had two libraries and a gym. They had a bus that would take you anywhere you wanted to go.

Arbor Village was an adequate place for my father until it wasn’t. Don’t take anything with you that you don’t want stolen. Three times he had things stolen from his room…jewelry and even his false teeth😱 Administration didn’t seem to care so the last time we filed a police report which upset management. His teeth were returned about 3 days later. As long as he was healthy enough to do things for himself it was OK. When his health began to fail it was an entirely different story. He would call for help going to the bathroom. An aide would show up, decide she needed another person to help her, so would leave and never come back. I reported it to the supervisor numerous times but nothing changed. He had an open sore on his foot caused by a fall that was supposed to have the bandage changed daily. We were looking into a different placement for him that could do the daily bandage change. We met with the nursing supervisor and she assured me that they could provide that service. Based on her assurance we left him there. We were paying extra money for this higher level of care. A few weeks later he was taken to the ER for another problem and when the Dr looked at the sore he said the bandage hadn’t been changed in weeks. Long story short, he developed sepsis and lost his leg. This led to his death. If you just look at the surface, AV has beautiful furniture in the lobby, and nice rooms. Staff is friendly when talking to them. Sadly, I’ve learned that they don’t deliver on their promises.

My relative is only been at Arbor Village for 3.5 months. I dont understand where the good reviews came from, this place is a NOT a good place to have your relatives taken care of. We spent alot of money and now we are looking for a new place. Staffing issues, call lights not being answered, rude employees, served the wrong food constantly. LOTS of empty rooms, Hmmm....I wonder why. Currently, they dont even have a Manager for the community, they brought someone in from corporate. The golden years should be happy for the elderly, not make it miserable for your residents. I cant wait to get my relative outta there!

We spent six months in Arbor Village. I was there recovering from an injury I had received. Since I was the caregiver I wasn't able to do that, so we needed to be in a place where she can receive care and I could recover from my injury. As far as the care there, it was mixed. Some of the caregivers were very attentive and very considerate, but they did have some that were somewhat arrogant and really didn't want to be bothered. They had a number of things going on in there in addition to the dining room and the meals. I didn't use the dining room because it was difficult for me to sit, so I spent a lot of the time in the apartment. The food was alright for the most part. I didn't like some of it, but it was healthy and reasonably well prepared. The nursing staff was OK, but we asked for some things with the supervisors that were never fulfilled. It got to be pretty expensive there because they started kicking up the cost of the care, which was an irritant. Overall, there were some staff members that were really good, and so I hate to throw the good ones in with the poor ones. However, I had asked that one staff member just be barred from even coming into the room. The nursing staff itself was fine, but the supervision was less than desirable.

My mother has moved in to Arbor Village. I love it because she loves it, and she's participating in things that she didn't at her other assisted living residence. She's doing the activities, going on the trips, and that's what it's all about, making her happy and comfortable. We tried the food before we moved in, it was very good, and there was quite a selection, so she's happy with it. The place itself is great. It's a little more expensive than anywhere she's been, but she's happy right now, so I'm willing to pay extra. The cost is a little higher than it really should be.

Poor service but it's to be expected with the low quality staff they have working for minimum wage. I was so happy to have moved my mom from here to another facility where the staff looks welcoming and caring. What really upset me the most is for such a high cost place, they seem to only hire unskilled care givers majority of which either don't speak English or hardly do making it very difficult to communicate with myself or my mother on her care needs. If you love your mom and dad, keep them out of here.
