Kentridge Senior Living was very clean. The people I met there were very, very friendly. The staff was really nice and very helpful. They're still contacting me to make sure we don't have any questions or need any other help. I think they go beyond and I've never heard that in other places. The dining area was very good. It's like a restaurant and there are no scheduled meals. It's open from 7 am to 7 pm. They also take trips to restaurants and stuff on the bus.

Provider Response

A search for the right place is a search for the right people. And we agree, we have some wonderful people who provide the services needed by so many. Thank you for leaving a review!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My grandmother is now at Kentridge Senior Living. They are one of the number one memory care facilities in Ohio, so we went there and toured it and were impressed with all the activities and everything they have to offer for her. They have their own little community there where they do crafts and make cookies and eat as a family, all those types of things. My grandmother has the same things that she had when she had her own apartment. She has her own bed, her own chair, her own TV, and her own dresser, so it's set up like it was at her house. I have not tried their food, but my grandmother has gained some weight, so she is eating pretty well. I haven't had a lot of interaction with the staff because when we go there, it's usually a weekend, but they've been very nice. They welcomed us, and any time we had questions, they answered them. It's very clean. The only thing though is that we don't hear about her day-to-day things. We don't hear a lot about that, and we would like to hear more about what's going on with her day-to-day and what that looks like for her. But we also realize there are only so many workers and it's not a nursing facility, so it's not a requirement. It's a private facility, so it is quite expensive, but when we were looking for a facility, it was similar to all the other ones. So I think that it's right where all the other ones were.

I visited this facility

We visited Kentridge Senior Living, we like that the location is closer to our church. We only met two staff people, but they were very nice and informative. We saw the open areas, it was nice although not as nice as the place we ended up choosing. But we liked it and everything was fine, the outdoor area was clean. The staff was very inviting when we came in.

Kentridge Senior Living was beautiful. It felt more like home. The rooms were spacious. The lady that gave the tour was friendly and answered all of our questions. She also gave additional information on organizations and veterans services/benefits that would pay for assisted living (and that was awesome!). They have games, music, films, and outings. If you're not ambulatory, they have chair fitness and chair volleyball as well.

My mother is in Kentridge Senior Living. We've had some bad experiences and we're not real happy with the care sometimes, the caregivers, and the way they operate. They have a four-page menu, but they have the same items at lunch as they do for dinner for their main entrees. They serve very spicy food to older individuals. I know there are problems nationwide with that, but this has been ongoing. They're supposed to do her laundry once a week, but they weren't doing it once a week. We had to get after them about cleaning. There's just a lot of little different things that I'm not happy with. You have some good staff and you have some bad. They need more food variety. When Mom first went in, they had a bigger variety. They used to offer burgers and chicken sandwiches and stuff every day, now they don't. There's no variety. Sometimes you ask for something and you get something entirely different. The facility looks nice and welcoming. They have bingo and singing. They have a beauty salon and a library because I have seen them bring books out in the foyer and switch them out. By the time Mom came in, they were on lockdown. We really didn't get to see much of the facility, and they're on lockdown again.

I went to Kentridge Senior Living on Friday. They wanted to know about my sister and what she was looking for, so we spent a lot of time talking, and then she took me on a tour of the different sites. They have one bedroom, and studio and she showed me several of the apartments that happened to be empty. She showed me the exercise room and the dining room. They said the people can eat anytime, there are no certain hours, they can open all the time for food if someone is hungry. When I went in, there were some people in a nice area right outside the entrance. They were just sitting and talking. When I got home yesterday, Amy from Kentridge had left me just a small gift on my front door, thanking me for being there and talking, which is very nice of her. She mentioned she had mailed a brochure to my sister already.

The KentRidge Senior Living was booked up in their memory care. They were trying to accommodate my dad in their assisted living, but it was too expensive. I'm still in contact with the lady from there. She sent a thank you card, and I still text the woman from there. Amy is the woman that was in charge of it all, but we also got to meet the chef. He came in and brought us food and we got to try it. She actually wanted to know all about my dad, wanted to know his full history; she was actually interested in knowing who he was as a person and his quirks. She also wanted to know us as a family. I think it was important to know all about the patient as a person, so that they could accommodate him completely. It felt so inviting to know that they actually cared about him as a person, and not just a number or paycheck. It was so inviting in that aspect; it felt like family there. I wanted to move in there myself. There were staff always around, and it felt very immaculately clean; it didn't feel staged. You can tell that the staff is trying to put on a front, but it felt very genuine. We got to meet several people that worked there. The dining was a restaurant style, nd the patients can sit anywhere in the restaurant. There's also seating where they can watch the cook as they make the food. It's interesting to me. It's warm and inviting as if you're at home, and you're watching somebody cook food and smelling it. Even if they're on a restricted diet, that was important. Everything sensory was wonderful for the patients, like the programs and the things that they do on a normal basis. They have very interesting day to day activities. I think other assisted living and memory care facilities would learn a lot if they if they went there to learn how to run their business.

One thing I liked about Kentridge Senior Living is their restaurant style dining where you can eat at different times of the day. They're not all just set times. I really prefer that style of eating because not all of us get up at 8:00 a.m. I like to stay up late and get up a little later. I met the lady in charge of the memory care area and she seemed very nice, and the lady that showed us around was very good. All of the people we met were very good and accommodating. The staff was excellent, very helpful, and answered any questions that we had. The chef brought out a cheese and cracker kind of tray. We didn't really eat their food there, but it looked like they make an effort to make the food accordingly. They make the meals at your time whenever you want to eat it. You can eat at any time, and that seemed to go along with what I was interested in. The facility seemed adequate. They had to make a few changes trying to go along with COVID. It was just a little hard to get into the place because you don't go into the front. The only place they could set up for all the temperature taking and signing in and all that stuff was around the back, but that was fine. They just had to adjust things around for that, but other than that, it was fine. They had good accommodations there. It seems good for the memory care and the assisted living. The chef seemed quite willing to make anything, he was talking about some of the food, he seemed like a very interesting guy, and he really seemed to like his job. I think he probably does a very good job at the meals, too.

We have chosen a facility for Dad. He is going to Kentridge. The tour was very nice and very informative. The staff member, who is the director of being able to have you come into senior living, she's great. It has been a nice facility. They have been working well with us in getting the care we need for Dad. He doesn't walk, and he's in a wheelchair, so what we were looking for were the activities for him. I've seen on their calendar different things that the activity director provided before Thanksgiving. They have activities on the calendar.

I had a good visit at Gables of KentRidge. The person who shoerd me around was very helpful. It's lovely, but it did not fit our needs. It's warm, friendly, and I liked the way it was laid out. The activities looked fun and engaging. It was an older facility, but the staff was very warm and helpful.

We chose Gables of KentRidge for my mom. The atmosphere is kind of a hotel lobby; very comfy and carpeted. The dining area is outstanding and looks like a 4-star restaurant. The food is wonderful, and the cook is amazing. All of the food is excellent and visitors are welcome to eat any meal with them any time, which is encouraging and great. My mom is in the memory care, which is a secured and lockdown unit, so I don't have to worry about her wandering off. The nurses have been very good with communication so far. My mom seems to be thriving, so her transition has been really good. She has actually gained two pounds since moving in, which is unusual for Alzheimer's. They have private rooms, but Mom has a shared room. She doesn't currently have a roommate though. It's a little more economical. They have activities and bring in someone to play music. They'll take the memory care out to do activities with the rest of the community and sometimes they have people who come in and do things privately for the memory care. They also have areas outside where they can do minor crafts.

We went to the Gables of Kent, and it was very nice; they just did not provide end of life care -- which I wanted some place where I wasn’t going to have to move her again. The rooms were very nice and clean. The staff was as nice as they could be. The food was good too; I have no problem at all with this facility.

I visited this facility

I visited Kent Ridge with my family to find a place for my grandmother to stay. To start, the facilities are very nicely kept. The decor is homey and calming and the overall atmosphere is very nice. We had the opportunity to see many individual rooms and common area, as well as the outdoor space. All were very nice, but we found the individual rooms to be on the small side especially when taking walkers and wheelchairs into consideration. The outdoor area, especially the garden, was very nice. We were able to stay for a meal and found that the food was up to par. The meal was very hot and actually quite fresh, we even got to meet one of the cooks. The staff left a little to be desired. While some staff members were very friendly, others were just plain rude. Even if they were having a bad day, they should put that aside when coming to work. I found the other residents were very welcoming. Overall, I could see my grandmother staying here and would like to considering its location is very close to me. I hope this review for Kent Ridge at Golden Pond helps.

Everyone was incredibly kind. It felt more like visiting a luxurious hotel rather than an assisted living facility. The caretakers treated each other and the residents like family. The facility provided tons of activities for the residents and their families. It was a great experience.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

my grandmother lives in this facility and it is a very nice place it is very clean and the aids are friendly there are lots of activities and games that the residents can take part in they are quick to respond if someone needs help with anything at any time of the day they even have their own award winning chef that makes all of the meals and it seems rare to find assisted living homes with very good food they have a lot of various rooms where the residents can sit and talk amongst each other or watch television and take part in other activities, another nice thing that they offer is physical therapy they can help any residents that have recently had any type of surgery or injury get their strength back and get back to what they're used to doing overall this is a great choice if you are looking for a nice assisted living establishment

Friend or relative of resident

My great-grandmother was moved through a few facilities when first diagnosed with Alzheimer's. Kentridge became the most ideal because of its central location to my family. Alzheimer's is a challenging affliction, especially when you're forced to bear witness to it at a place like Kentridge where it overwhelms most residents. It was honestly quite shocking to even sit in the room with her surrounded by so many ailing people. However, I support the staff members and on-hand nurses at Kentridge for always being near. While it's uncomfortable to have an unresponsive relative you've known for most your life, it's truly a blessing to find a responsive caregiver you've just met, and to know that they'll be there for your loved one. I can't say I'm always happy with the conditions or the meals offered, but I'm most likely biased as I'm one of the lucky people who are just visiting. Kentridge was affordable and kind to my family, and I have much faith in them.
