I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mom was in skilled nursing at McAuley Residence. The experience was very good. The rooms were good. The staff was very, very informative and very respectful. They were really good, and they were good to her. It was a good nursing home. I liked the way it was set up, and the staff members were very, very honest about things about her when I asked questions about her. They were always answering the phone, taking care of her, and doing things for me that I couldn't do. It was very good. I was very happy with it. The food was good. They had programs, and they had parties. They did things with the residents. They always got her up and put her in her chair. They were very respectful and very knowledgeable.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My husband was admitted to McAuley Residence during Covid 19 quarantine, on a holiday weekend. The staff has been very nurturing and caring. They have done everything in their power to make this a smooth transition. Every department has gone out of their way to help my husband. The Admission Director prepared me for what my husband's needs would be. Upon arrival I met the Administrator, Director of Nursing and the Activity Director. They made me feel at home (as much as you can under these circumstances). The Maintenance Department helped to set up the phone, TV and bed. The Social Workers helped to set up ROKU. The Dietary Department makes regular visits to make sure my husband is enjoying his meals. They also bring him snacks. My husband is impressed with the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments. The Activity Department has already done FaceTime three times. My husband can’t say enough good things about the Nursing /Aid staff. The nurse in charge of the floor where my husband is has been an excellent communicator. The Chaplin makes visits, which makes it nice to have a regular visitor at this time. If you truly love your family member and want to ensure excellent care, McAuley Residence is where you want to be!!!

3 of us had to wait 35 minutes to get assistance to bathroom...I had to call main #...was told by aid who finally came that they had to clear dirty dishes from room, first. When I asked if dirty dishes were more important than patients,I was told by aid, "that's the way it is"...50% staff was helpful, rest were surly or rude Rehab helped but that was only 2hrs. a day...6 days a week....could not find way to get outside for fresh air..Tried to get to dining area for dinner, made request..no one came to wheel me...meal served in room like they never planned to move me. Wi-Fi poor or non-exsistant...good cable station selection..activities seem to be meeting in front of big tv and sleeping in wheelchair. Can not discribe food, roast beef was processed into rectangles with no moisture...fish had no lemon or herbs(don't think few drops of lemon juice would damage the elderly)...often served items, types of soda, just to get rid of it...not what was requested...don't like meal, theyll give you PB&J Meals often came w/o pepper packets(Bring your own pepper) Small refrigerator in room...hadn't been cleaned in ???? Residents not treated with dignity or respect by short staffed weekend crew.

Some of the nurses were fantastic while others not so much. TRUE. I didn`t want to mention that in my review, as It looked like there was 1 nurse for the whole hallway? Maybe 2? IDK. All I know, is NOW my 91 yr. old father, who I SIGNED OUT BEFORE MCAULEY RECOMMENDED HIM LEAVING, HAS TO PAY THE 4 DAYS AT $386/DAY, THAT MCAULEYS STAFF DOCTOR SAID HE WAS OK TO GO HOME. MCAULEY`S OWN SOCIAL WORKER ,Kim (something) HAD "ME" CALL LIVANTA, AND SAY HE WAS NOT READY TO GO HOME. 3x, we appealed it. Livanta obviously went by what McAuley`s OWN DOCTOR said, and NOW we`re getting hit with a "no coverage for 4 days" bill for $386/DAY!. I spent 4 WEEKS WITH HIM AT HIS HOME, AFETR I SIGNED HIM OUT, AS HE WAS "STILL UNABLE TO WALK!". P.S. He also couldn`t chew solid food for 4 weeks at home because McAuley LOST HIS DENTURES! They didn`t seem TOO concerned, (being a FORMER patient, and all! McAuley, is a FAR BELOW AVERAGE REHAB HOSPITAL. I`ll update the names of these healthcare "professionals, later. P.S. Unless you don`t really care about your relative, I WOULD NOT, EVER, TAKE THEM TO MCAULEY!!

For various surgeries and complications I have rehabbed at McAuley Residence 4 times in the past year and a half. Each time I received fantastic care even though I admit they are very understaffed! Most of the care givers there go above and beyond to meet your needs. Martin D. and Janine were 2 who stood out each time I was there. Nurse Alma was so caring and so efficient. The PT and OT departments are phenomenal! Dave B in PT worked with me, through tears ???? and all to believe that the pain would begin to decrease with time and effort. I would recommend this facility to anyone contemplating knee or hip replacement rehab. Arlene W.

My 67 year old, fully coherent father was sent to recover here from lymphoma-induced pneumonitis. His care was sub-standard at best. One night, he could not breathe. His lungs were very inflamed. He called the nurses over, and over, for FIVE HOURS STRAIGHT. They ignored him. He finally had to call a family member on his cell phone. She came in at 4 a.m. and got him a nurse, who realized he was in severe distress and sent him by ambulance to the hospital. Less than 24 hours later, he was dead. Think twice before sending people you love to be abused and die here.

My mother stayed at this facility this past summer, she was supposed to be there for Rehab. It was very clear, early on that my mother was not going to helped by rehab, so instead she was ignored and received little help. When we spoke with the caseworker, she set us up with Hospice, which we should have opted for in the first place. Her experience at Mcauley was less than acceptable for both her and us. I would not recommend this facility to anyone.

My mother had rehab at McAuley Residence. They took very good care of her, and there was no problem. They were very attentive to her and checked in on her in her room which she shared with another woman. They door was kept open of course, and there was somebody who was poking their head in there every 15 minutes. The only thing I wished they would have had were bed alarms, but they're not allowed to have those in rehab. They also have a senior care, like a nursing home upstairs, and there they can use the alarm, but in rehab it's considered constraining a patient. However, they would make sure she came out in the dining room for all her meals, and she had physical therapy twice a day. They took excellent care of her.

I was recently at McAuley for rehab after surgery. I have to say, the attention Ireceived in rehab was great. Thank you to those who were on my team. The person that was in the room with me kept the light on and the tv on all night. The food, well, I think I may have eaten 2 out of the 4 days i was there. You have to order your food for the week on a sheet of paper. I filled out my sheet, order cream with my coffee, never got cream. Got dry cereal, no milk was provided. The cream of broccoli soup was i dont even no. It did look or smell like broccoli. The grossest thing I have ever put in front of me. I would say you really need some kitchen staff that knows first of all how to cook, and second of all, read and follow directions. I never had my bedding changed, the bathroom smelled of pee. I finally asked someone to clean the bathroom. They are very understaffed, the staff is burning out from not having enough help. The only time I saw administration was when I arrived, and when I demanded to leave early. I hadnt slept in 3 nights. Rethink your stay. I want to shout out to Nurses, Cari, Stephanie,Jenn. And aides. Martin, Janine. You were the only think holding me together. I was afraid to ask for help because you were very understaffed. I could go on, but I think Ive voiced my opinion long enough. By the grace of God and people who have a voice to speak up. Maybe changes will be made if we speak loud enough.

My mother-in-law was in Mcauley a couple of years ago for rehab. She went through physical and occupational therapy. They took good care of her. The room she was in was normal in size -- which is like a typical room that you would see in a nursing facility. The security was good, and they have activities like bingo, cards, and movies.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My wife went to Mcauley Residence; it was right behind the hospital. She was there for her hip and knee rehab. The unit itself was good, but they had a turn over. It is supposed to specialize mostly hip and knee, but they don't have enough hip and knee rehab people. She had a different person every day, and she doesn't know what to do. She had two hours in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, and they were never the same people. There was no consistency in their rehab. The room and the food were good. Everything was good, except for the rehab. So, when she had to go in again, she didn't want to go there. They asked us why, we told them, and they said they were having a big turn over there and that they were trying to fix it. My wife was in a shared room. Though they were two people in there, it was big, and they had their own closet, dresser, bed, wheelchair, and chair. The shower was someplace else. The food was good. They had a menu, and the food was adequate. For the rehab people -- besides the two types of rehab -- they don't do much there, but I would recommend them to others. If they would have the right people in it, they'd do a pretty good job. The had her in her pretty fair shape, and I couldn't complain on that part of it.
