I visited this facility

Onslow House was not that bright or cheerful looking. There wasn't anything really wrong with it, but it wasn't sunny, and the rooms were all the same. They had a semi-private room for two people in a room, and a private room with only one person living in it. The bathrooms were more like a family bathroom. There was a bathtub and not a walk-in handicap-type bathtub shower. The hallways were wide, and they had a chapel for church services. They had a calendar of activities with a lot of bingo every day and other activities. The staff was very friendly, knew everybody's name and interacted with the people. They were very helpful and answered my questions. The place seemed clean and well maintained.

I visited this facility

Onslow House seemed very nice and clean. They seemed to have lots of activities, superb people, and nice dining area. They had a community room. My husband would be in a private room that was very well furnished, pretty, and looked like it would be very comfortable for him. The grounds were nice and clean. When you went in, you would be at the reception desk and the rooms were to your left and right. Straight would be the community room and the dining. They had a nice calendar that gave all the activities that would be going on for the month. They had lots of staff always around. The location was very good. It was close to town and easy for me to get to pick him up. It was easy for them to take a bus and go to places in town.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

It is clean, friendly, the food is good with lots of variety, and the people seem attentive. We're pretty happy with Onslow House, and my mother has been here for a couple of months now. They have ankle monitors on the patients, which alarm as they go out the door, but this is not a locked down facility. Our brother tried to take her out to lunch one day, he wasn't on the list, and they immediately called and told them that they couldn't go. This was a good choice for us.

I visited this facility

I have been looking for a place for my mother. I had the privilege of working with Ms. Arnold. She is a very friendly, knowledgable, and warm person. She took the time to show me around the building and even suggested to look around at other buildings before making my decision. She answered all of my questions and put my mind at ease about the decision I was having to make. The staff was friendly and while taking a tour of the building it was obvious that Ms. Arnold was not just trying to move in someone new, but that she and all the staff I met cared about the people living there. I was invited to come by any time and talk with her staff or seniors and was even invited to their upcoming prom. My husband and I decided to ride by on their "prom night" to see if it was all that I was told it would be. It was. It was beautifully decorated and it made me feel reassured to place my mom at this building. The staff was dressed in their prom attire and was dancing and taking pictures with the folks that lived there. I am so glad to have seen this for myself. I highly recommend Carebridge to anyone and please make sure to ask for Ms. Arnold. You will feel like you are part of the family right away.

I am a friend or relative of resident

My parent has been a resident here for several years. Carebridge isn't a fancy place but up to recently it had been kept clean and the staff was always attentive and appeared to really care for all of the residents. (even the difficult ones) However, over the past few months some of the key people have left. Like Rene, Blanche & Joanne. And many of the other familiar faces have disappeared, only to be replaced by (some) people that look like they are there to just get a paycheck... Sometimes you can feel the tension and lack of respect between the people behind the desks and the ones on the floor. (By the way I heard [from a very sharp and observant resident] that a couple of the long time staff are planning to leave as well) "Housekeeping" ... rooms aren't attend to as well as they used to be... I have noticed over the past couple months, the same paper, cup or tissue on the floor in my parents room "missed" by the sweeper for as long as a week or until I picked it up! (If I don't dust, no one does.) "THE FOOD"... I am there quite often at meal times, and it appears that the quality of the food go down hill. The appearance of the plates are becoming more unappetizing and sometimes food like Chicken breast and Pork chops are so over cooked it is impossible to cut, much less chew. I pay 100% out of our pocket for our parents care, and if wouldn't be so upsetting to my parent we would move to another facility. And yes, I know that times are hard and budgets need to be cut, but it would be nice to see that all of the "new" people now working there actually cared for each other and the residents they care for just a bit more!

I visited this facility

I once visited carebridge assisted living to visit a family friend during the holidays. She is very close to everyone in our family and her well being is extremely important to us. Upon entering the facility I noticed a very warm, clean and friendly environment. The building itself was very well maintained one thing in particular were the bathrooms. The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The care and concern they show for there residents is very evident. The lady at the front desk was very polite and helpful when trying to locate our friend. Our friend who was a resident in the facility was also very pleased with her stay. She has grown a special bond with her caretakers and they have made her feel very welcome and at home. This made us feel very good about her well being and to know that she is so well taken care of. Overall all I would highly recommend this establishment for anyone considering assisted living facilitys in the jacksonville area. I look forward to visiting Carebridge again in the near future.
