The Cove at Marsh Landing was very, very clean. They got a great staff and they gave a great tour. The sales rep was well-spirited. She spoke highly of the place, was knowledgeable, and was empathetic in understanding the situation. I felt it was a smaller community because there were only 20 apartments on the memory care side. So, I liked the employee-to-resident ratio. To me, it seems pretty high, comparatively speaking to some other ones. They had a patio with grassy areas and trees, bushes, and a pavilion.

The Cove at Marsh Landing was immaculate. We looked at both assisted living and memory care, and the apartments were huge. It was top-notch. They have regular and informal dining, a gym, a movie theater, a beauty parlor/barbershop, an activity room, and a separate room for families to come together (almost like a living room/dining room combo setup). They literally have everything. They also have an outdoor patio and a park. It was huge. The residents seemed like they were just at home. Everybody was talkative, friendly, outgoing, and happy.

The Cove at Marsh Landing is a nice place. It was less expensive and it's beautiful. They have activities and the people are friendly. It's a good place. My mom has a studio of about 350 square feet. It has its own bathroom, a kitchenette, and a nice view out the window.

The Cove at Marsh Landing is pretty close to Mayo Clinic, that was one of our main concerns. It's very nice, they have remodeled most of the rooms, and the view is nice. The staff is very friendly and very accommodating. The chef made me a cannoli-wrapped cheesecake and it was divine, so their food is excellent too. The building was great, very clean, and very updated. There was plenty to do, they have a bunch of little coves where people can sit and either read or do activities. They have activity rooms and interactive things going on like virtual bowling; it's really neat. The rooms themselves were very clean, very updated, with new cabinets, marble countertops, wood floors, and it was all very nice. They showed me different rooms, there were two different studios, one-bedrooms, and two-bedrooms. We also went over to memory care and they showed me a very nice suite. I had no complaints, everything was wonderful.

We moved my dad to the memory care unit of The Cove at Marsh Landing because he has dementia and he also tends to wander or escape. The lady from the community came to the house, talked to my father, and my husband. They decided that my father would have a lot of fun there so they took my father there. I thought that the appearance of the place was beautiful. When I first pulled up, it almost looked like a resort, and when I came in it just looked very nice for a memory care facility which was really nice. The staff was very nice, they went out of their way. I was late getting my dad there because I got lost, so they were able to feed him dinner and gave him a snack. They had to move certain things with him when we brought him in. They scrambled and put things together to make sure that he was comfortable for that night. The rooms are very nice, it has a shower and closets. They've kept us abreast in the changes in visitations and stuff like that. The staff is very helpful, like my father ran out of drops before his refill was up, so they told me and went to get his refill filled.

Provider Response

We are so happy to have your father part of The Cove at Marsh Landing Family. He is delightful and keeps active with our specialized programs. Thank you.

A great place near the beach. Nice sized rooms and food. We live close by and wanted to get the folks close since they are getting of the age where they dont want to do all the maintenance and other stuff with a house. They moved in from Missouri after seeing Ashford a couple of times on their visits. They looked at a lot of places and we are happy because we live in Ponte Vedra. They are glad to be near. We go over for dinner and sometimes Sunday lunch. They have their own chef, she is real nice and knows their tastes. Mom likes to show off her Southern Mansion. I think they are getting along just fine and making new friends. Mom is singing with a gospel group and Dad likes watching sports with the guys on the big screens they have throughout. They also like telling the Alexa to play the music they like and dancing in the lobby. They couldn't be happier. They have beautiful gardens and the activities are always going on. They take my folks out for plays and dinner dates. When Dad needs to go to MAYO, they take him in the bus and pick him up. It is very close to MAYO and we love knowing he is getting special attention. They have been to all the local restaurants and know them very well since they would go there during vacations with us here. They are like the tour guides and making new friends.

Ashford Court was perfectly acceptable, and the location was ideal. I really liked the place. They gave desserts for my mother, and they were good. It was the least expensive among the places I visited. The staff that assisted me was very pleasant and very helpful.

I would give this place 0 stars if that was an option. My family member has been here for 3 years now. This is by far one of the worst assisted living facilities in Jacksonville and probably the surrounding areas as well. At first, you'll think this is the best place you could choose to put your loved one. As time goes on though, you'll come to find out, it will be one of the worst choices you've ever made. Once the welcoming party wears off, things will begin to change. They'll stop taking such good care of your family member/s. Your mothers and fathers will fall through the cracks. They'll be forced to sit in their own urine and feces for hours. There have been constant rodent/insect problems. Not only rats and roaches in the kitchen but in the rooms too. I know another family member who's father had rats in his room and management knew all about it, and nothing was done. The family isn't able to move their father out but wishes they could. The activities may be a plus but don't let them fool you. They don't make up for the horrific problems everywhere else. They have been through more management in my time dealing with them, than most businesses do in a lifetime. Also, the management is awful. All of the nurses have been subpar. None of them actually knowing what they're doing, or doing anything at all really. The Executive Directors placate you. They want you to believe they are taking your concerns into consideration and then never following through. The past two EDs have by far been the worst. One ED only lasted for a few months and I don't see the new one lasting any longer. They treat the staff terribly and cause the good ones to leave. The management spends more time gossiping about the staff than they do actually working. Especially the activities coordinator. She spends more time in other people's business and other people's departments than she does her own. The residents that live here are the only redeemable quality this place has. If it wasn't for them, I would have moved my mother out of here ages ago. Unfortunately, with the way things have been going, I'm not sure that is a sufficient enough reason to keep her here. Do yourself and your family member a favor and don't move them here. You'll regret it.

Ashford Court had plenty of activities for seniors and transportation for your things. They had a good chef, and the food was delicious. It seemed to be a caring group of people who worked there. The grounds were well kept, and it’s a place you can easily call home.

I visited this facility

We did visit Ashford Court. I don’t think it was good as the other facility. The person that took us around was excellent. I thought the apartments were OK, but it is not a place that I don’t think we want to live in at this stage or life only because we don’t need assistance. I think if you need assistance, a small room like that would be fine. The facility was very clean. It was well laid, and it was quiet. You don’t see a lot of people there that’s standing there in a dazed state. It seemed to be well-managed. People were friendly. I really have nothing negative to say about it from the standpoint of the type of accommodations they offered.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to tour Ashford Court! We are glad that you found our Sales team to be professional and helpful as our goal is always to provide exceptional customer service. Ashford Court offers several floor plans ranging from studios, one-bedrooms (some with private verandah access), to two-bedroom apartments. While we do offer 24/7 caregivers for those that need assistance, many of our residents are very independent - Ashford Court is a great option to enjoy the amenities of resort-style living while having the comfort of knowing help is available when needed! If you have any additional comments or questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our Executive Director, Nicki Grudzinskas, at ngrudzinskas@seniorlifestyle.com or by phone at (904) 285-8827.

We thought Ashford Court’s rooms were extremely small and needed to be upgraded. It was not a situation we wish to pursue. We only met one person who was a sales person and tried to pressure us into making a quick decision. They shouldn’t use high-pressure sales tactics. The person was relatively new to the job and was obviously meeting sales quota, the person seemed almost like an automobile dealer.

Provider Response

Thank you for the time you took to tour Ashford Court. We do have several apartment options of varying sizes ranging from studios to 2-bedroom apartments. We are not the newest community in town, but we have been Jacksonville Beach’s most trusted senior care provider for nearly 20 years. Please know that our goal is never to pressure a family into a quick decision. We realize that choosing a senior living community can be a very difficult decision and we want to be a resource for our prospective families and residents.

The staff at Ashford Court is very responsive to my dad's needs. They seemed to be really investing making sure she is well. The rooms are small, but it's typical for assisted living. They have a kitchenette, a small living room, and a small bedroom as well. Dad seems to like the food, and they seemed to have a fairly good variety. It’s a restaurant type service. With their activities, they have a movie theatre, bingo, and cards. They also have religious study groups. Three or four times a week, they have a happy hour at 3:30 where they have lots of entertainment, and the residents participate as well. They also make weekly trips out shopping if they want to go. They also have physical therapy on site. They also have a shuttle in case the residents need those.

We choose Ashfort Court because it is close to home. It is a close-knit community. There are not many people there and they get a lot of individual attention. The staff is very helpful. My mom is in an apartment with a kitchen but it does not have a stove. It has a living room, a bedroom and bath. They have a very nice dining area where she meets a lot of nice friends. There are a lot of activities, but she does not participate.

Ashford Court is a beautiful facility. It is always clean, fresh looking and smelling. They have young and polite staff that greet you at the door. All of the Staff know the residents by name and keep up with their individual activities and vistors. The Staff will tell you where your resident is when you sign in to visit them. This shows affection and appreciation for the Resident. The food is excellent, I have eaten several times with my Friend and the chef salad was better than you would get at an restaurant in the local community. They charge low fees for the meals if you do not wish for the resident to pay for the meal. The Chef comes out into the dining room and will go from table to table and ask the residents what they think of their meal. They provide multiple choices for the residents to choose from at each meal. They provide individual service to each table of Residents so they can continually order more food or beverage from the same server. They have multiple activities going on during the day for each resident to attend. They did seem to be lacking on activities at Thanksgiving for the residents and I felt it was because the staff wanted to be home with their families. However, they should consider that some residents do not have family in town and they were alone without much to do the long Thanksgiving weekend. They do seem to be disorganized in their laundry facility. They have lost several of my friends clothing. They just have you put the laundry in a bag with the Resident name on it and they return it the same day. However, without a count of shirts, pants, under garments, pajamas going out with each bag it seems to create confusion when clothing items are returned. They do not ask that the clothing items be labeled so many times his nice polo shirts were never returned to his room from the laundry. He remedied it himself, by having them sign a list of his out going laundry. They have excellent Physical Therapy on site for the residents. They seem to encourage them to fully participate and keep up with their progress and report problems to the Residents Doctor. One of the down sides of this particular facility is that the ratio of women to men is large. There are very few Men in this facility and it seems to create a problem on socialization. They have grouped all the single Men to eat together at the dining room. At their age they are not necessarily looking for a new wife so it can be intimidating at times. Women seem to just talk more than Men and the women aren't sports fanatics. My Friend's wife died earlier this year and his Son placed him in Ashford Court. His chief complaint is the lack of Men at the Facility and the food being too chopped up for him. Small complaints considering his lifestyle has dramatically changed in the last year. Based on my visitation, I would place my parents in this facility because it is clean, friendly staff, good food, activities, and the atmosphere and decor is traditional and looks like the living room you just left at your home.
