I visited this facility

I toured Regents Point. It was a very pleasant place, and the people were happy. The rooms and amenities were nice. They had a pool. They had a store and an auditorium for giving concerts and plays. They had a nice dining room, lobby, and an exercise room. They have a choice to have an apartment in the building or they could have individual units outside that give more privacy. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I had some food there and it tasted good.

Provider Response

Hi Julie, thank you for your positive comments about our community, amenities, food, and team members. The entire team at Regents Point strives to create positive and memorable experiences for the residents and families we serve. We would love to hear what we could have done differently to give you a 5-star experience. Please contact Melinda Forney, Executive Director at Regents Point, to provide any additional feedback. Thank you!

I visited this facility

We went to Regents Point which was a nice facility. The staff was very nice, very pleasant and very knowledgeable. They have a different structure, which was a buy-in, which surprised me. So you have to pay a good chunk of change up-front to get into the facility. What I like about that is that the residents are more apt to stay in a place like that, than when paying month to month. In terms of the meals, if you've exceeded a certain level then you have to pay a little extra money, like $10-15 a day extra. They're more spread out than the other place I toured because they had 270 residents total. They also have memory care, they have three stages of care. They had a laundry in the room and they had one on the floor, but I don't think they'd clean your clothes there whereas the other place did. The staff is very pleasant, they knew what they were doing and they've done it for a long time.

Provider Response

Thank you for taking the time to tour Regents Point and for your feedback. We are a life plan community and feature spacious independent living apartments and villas, as well as assisted living, long-term skilled nursing, short-term rehabilitation and memory care – all on one beautiful campus. In residential living, we offer a flexible monthly dining allotment plan. We are proud of our kind and caring team, and appreciate your comments about our pleasant and knowledgeable staff. Please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions; we’re here to help.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Regents Point is beautiful because it's on very nicely-landscaped grounds. There's a park nearby. Not too many places have the landscaping that we have. We have a swimming pool, a beauty salon, a bistro and a little shop, so it’s very nice. The staff is acceptable, and occasionally one feels a complaint about something but that's customary everywhere. The dining area is beautiful, but I personally am not too enthusiastic about the food and I'm not totally satisfied. They have movies, a gym, book clubs, water aerobics, so there's a variety of activities.

Provider Response

Thank you for sharing, and highlighting some of the features that make our community so special. We're always searching for ways to enhance the experience for residents, and input from you and your neighbors is key to improving our services. We'd love to speak with you in greater detail about our dining options and any suggestions you have. Melinda Forney, our executive director, and Sharon Nader, our director of dining services, would appreciate the opportunity. Please connect with Melinda at your convenience.

Regents Point has assisted living and a nursing home connected to it. I liked that the property around it has a lake that you can walk around and enjoy. They have an independent villa and if you need assistance, you have to pay for that. They had mashed potatoes, gravy, peas, and meatloaf when we were there for lunch. The facility was old and small.

Regents Point has a bizarre financial structure where you put in money, instead of paying rent every month. Supposedly, you put in $140,000 to settle a buy-in and if you outlive that amount, they support you until you die kind of thing. I think it's a really religious place, because they started out as a support for ministers for a certain church, and then they became a non-denominational. Their facilities are kind of exciting, and the people were also nice. I just don't like their financial structure.

Provider Response

Hi Joanna, we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed but we wanted to take this opportunity to provide details about our financial model. Regents Point is a continuing care retirement community; our financial model is based on entry free contracts along with monthly fees, rather than month-to-month arrangements. Contracts are reviewed and approved by the state of California. While we do not offer Medicare/Medi-Cal in our residential level of living, our skilled nursing level of living does participate in the Medicare and Medi-Cal program. Also, eligible residents are supported by our benevolence funds if they require financial assistance. Please let us know if you have questions; we would love to have you visit us again at Regents Point.

I visited this facility

I recently visited Regents Point. I was impressed with the community it has all the levels of care. The independent living was very nice, the staff was very friendly. It's near a shopping center and next to Mason Park, so the environment surrounding was very nice. My tour guide did an exceptional job she was knowledge and very accommodating They have flexibility in the rooms, which made it unique. I thought the Assisted Living was very nice. They had a variety of activities. What most impressed me was how happy the residents smiled as they said I've been living here for years. The best decision I made. Very nice community!

Regents Point was very nice. They had some beautiful cottages and really good stuffs going on. They had classes that you could take through University of California Irvine, and that was very appealing to me because I am looking for classes and activities. I thought it was a very nice place.

I am/was a resident of this facility

My wife and I moved to Regents Point a little over four years ago. We knew that we were going to a very nice facility located near the UCI campus where we could easily walk to the shops that support the campus. What we didn't know was that we had a large group of friends that we had not yet met. We a happy here and glad we made the move. We are part of a fairly large group of residents who visit and do other volunteer work at the assisted living and full scale nursing facilities on campus. In total about 20,000 hours volunteer work is provided each year. So those people who go to higher level of care than independent living get good professional care plus the equivalent of about 10 extra people who do volunteer work. I submitted this review because I have been so impressed with the programs I see (when I am doing volunteer work there) being offered to the residents in the assisted living portion of Regents Point (Sunridge). jk

I visited this facility

Regents Point had a park-like setting because it was adjacent to a park. The rooms were inside the compound. It was a little more modern than the others I've seen. I liked the location most of all because it seemed like when you step into the compound, you were going to a safe area; it just looked very safe and relaxing. The staff was very friendly. I ate in a snack bar, not in the main cafeteria, but I liked it. Several of the residents approached us and told us how much they liked being there. There was a huge ground crew there, which means there was another set of eyes watching the residents and looking out for them.

Provider Response

Hi Paul, Thank you for visiting us at Regents Point, and for leaving such a kind review. The wellbeing of our residents is priority, and everyone here -- from residents to team members -- does a wonderful job of fostering a safe, supportive campus. I'm glad you were able to experience this hospitality firsthand, and meet some of the incredible people who call Regents Point home. We hope you'll come see us again soon! The Regents was in the process of updating. Everybody was wonderful, except the building itself needs upgrading. The rooms looked wonderful, and I walked to all of them from exercise classes and bowling

Provider Response

Thank you so much for your feedback. We appreciate your observations and comments. At the time we are working to remodel our community. I am glad you liked the common areas and apartments. We look forward in seeing you return back!

I like Regents Point a lot. I thought the place was really nice, and the facilities were beautiful. The person who gave us the tour was really great. They have a really nice beauty parlor, a beauitful pool for the independent living, and a lot of activities going on. I would give it 5 stars for the independent living. It was our second choice. I thought the dining area was really nice, and it looked like the residents were really enjoying the food. It was really nice.

Provider Response

Thank you for your excellent review and the five star rating. It is great to hear you enjoyed seeing the common areas. I am happy you liked the tour given to you. We look forward to seeing you again soon!

I visited this facility

Regents Point was on a beautiful, 45-acre campus. It was right next to a regional park, so there was plenty of space. The people were very friendly and very happy. Everything was neat and clean. It looked like a very good place to live and just be there. I chose to visit it because it was in a nice location, it had a very good reputation, and it was a beautiful place. It was very nice and open. The thing that I liked was that it had independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing all in the same campus. We had a very good lunch there. They had two restaurants there, and we went to one that was more of a bistro bar where you could have sandwiches and stuff, and that was very good. I did not see any activities, but they gave me a list of all the clubs there. They had a lot going on for the people there.

Provider Response

Thank you for your wonderful review. We appreciate the feedback and details you provided about your visit/tour to Regents Point. I am glad you found our community friendly and happy. We look forward to seeing you return again soon.

We didn’t like Regents Point. The facility is very shabby with terrible landscaping. We’re not interested at all. Everybody seemed very pleasant there, and we liked the location, but the maintenance is very substandard. The rooms are being rehabilitated, but it is a very tired property. They should improve their maintenance standards.

Provider Response

Thank you for providing us with details about our landscaping. I appreciate your kind comments about our landscaping and maintenance; however, I am sorry the rooms were not of your standard. I discussed your comments with the team, and we will do our best to upkeep our community. Thanks for the feedback; we will continue to work on improving our exceptional grounds. We hope that you will give us the opportunity to provide you with a better experience next time.

I visited this facility

We did go see Regents Points for my parents. I felt like the facility needed to be updated. It looked quite old. The staff who assisted us was very nice, but it felt like it was too long. I took my elderly mother there, so to be there for three hours is just too long. Although it was nice that she took time, it was just a lot of information to go over. We basically wanted to see what the facility looked like. Also there weren't any activities going on while we were there. The unit that she showed us, somebody had recently moved out, and that's exactly what it looked like. I don't think they should ever show a property that looks like that. They should have a model set up so that people can look at it.

Provider Response

I am so sorry for the bad experience. We do have a model room to show. I hope you give us another opportunity and return to our community.

Regents Points has beautiful grounds, but it was out of my price range; the buy-ins are way too high for me. The rooms were wonderful, and their facilities looked excellent but too upscale for me. It was gorgeous, as it was surrounded by a park, it was a very great place and looked absolutely fabulous. The staff was friendly.

Provider Response

Thanks for the wonderful comments! We hope to see you return to our community.

Regents Point is closer to our original house, very good and we like it. They have a good library, a fitness center and very good transportation. The staff is very friendly, good and gentle. The room is good with very good view and we have 2-bedrooms. They renovated it; it’s a brand new place.

Regents Point had all the care levels. The independent living was very nice, but it has a large buy-in. It's near UCI and next to Mason Park, so the environment surrounding was very nice. The rooms were nice, but a little bit smaller. You could get a one-bedroom, and if you wanted to have two bedrooms, you could get the one bedroom next door, and they would make those into one unit. They have flexibility in the rooms, which I thought was pretty interesting. They had a ton of activities. They kind of reminded me of a country club.

I visited Regents Point. I don't have a car, but they came and picked me up and brought me home. When I went in the main reception area, it was absolutely holiday time; It was beautiful. They had fireplaces going and floral arrangements all over the place. I looked at the library; the books though were a little tired. I looked at the gym room, and there was a trainer on-call there. They had a little snack bar called the bistro. However, they only serve you one meal, and the rest of them you have to pay for. Everybody else has three meals a day, and they'll take care of you, but not this lovely elegant little spot. Also the cost per month was way out of my range. They showed me one of their apartments, and it was very disappointing. It was dull, drab, and small, and it had no charm.

Regions Point is a very nice community. It was a buy-in and made affordable for me. I had two choices whether to spend more money and yet 75% back or pay a less amount which in the end I did. They will also guarantee that if for some reason, no fault of your own, you run out of money, they will not turn you out. They will take care of you. The big plus for me was the unit I'm in. They totally refurbished it from top to bottom. They put in everything I wanted like wood floors, and anything I wanted they get for me. It's a convenient place for me to move to as well. It's a very good place. The landscaping is lovely. The place itself is not new. But considering it's a few years old, it's kept up very well. The staff is wonderful, very nice, and very caring. The food is pretty good. I'm not always happy, but most of the time I am and I can usually find something that I like. They have a lot of activities, like musical groups come in, they offer transportation to the shops and doctor. They have a boutique, beauty salon, and heated pool, so it's very nice. .

Regents Point might be good for other people, but not enough for me. It was too isolated and too many old people there were walking around with their walkers. The rooms were decent but they don't have a full kitchen. They had activities. They had a nice courtyard. But I just didn't like it.

Regents Point is extremely affordable compared to where my mother was at before which was almost twice as much. It truly is a Hilton style, very upper class. They have a lot of retired executives and retired professionals. I really like the rooms and apartments. The one we're putting my mother into is like a small apartment which is a change from her own home. She has a nice sliding glass door on the back which opens up into a patio area. My mother could certainly plant her own flowers there and pull her own weeds if she wants to. There is a huge park that is right next to the facility. My brother just lives two blocks down the street from there and I live about 20 minutes away from there. We'd like mom to be as close as possible to us because that way we can see her almost everyday. They have a little bistro there. The dining facility truly is very elegant. The staff was very nice there, too.

Our visit there went fine. The staff was accommodating. They were very helpful and they gave us all the information that we need. They were very nice people. They didn't do anything bad, nothing naughty. They did invite us to sample their food but we couldn't stay. Well, I didn't see very many residents there, but they looked okay. They were walking around. The facility was fine and it's clean.

We stopped in at Regents Point assisted living facility since we happened to be in the Irvine area. The staff was very gracious and took us on a tour, despite not having an appointment. The grounds looked stunning and very well kept. Their proximity to the Newport Beach nature preserve and University provides a lot of great outings for the residents. There were plenty of nice shrubs, trees and places to sit to enjoy. The stone and wood was truly lovely and inviting. The weather is so mild there, that residents may enjoy walks along San Diego Creek and spend time outdoors daily. The interior design was fresh, bright and beautiful, with a resort vibe. Private spaces featured nicely decorated surroundings. All had natural light and fresh air with beautiful views. The staff appeared to accommodate all levels of ambulation. The food we saw looked and smelled delicious. Snacks are offered all day and into the evening, and whenever requested. The dining areas offered great restaurant style ambiance and plenty of food choices. This facility seemed very much like a place for vacationing, where seniors can really enjoy this time of their lives. The staff was competent, friendly and attentive.

My wife and I moved to Regents Point almost 8 years ago. We researched the CCRC's located in this area and decided that Regents Point had the most to offer. Active life style, beautiful Mason Park, UCI campus, Barkley Theatre, Bren Athletic Center, UCI Medical School interactive activities between seniors and medical students. Availability to take senior classes at UCI and other nearby Community Colleges. Close to John Wayne Airport. We have season tickets to Laguna Playhouse and Regents Point provides transportation. Close to Orange County Performing Arts Center and the vast array of Artistic venues offered. Regents Point also provides transportation if there is sufficient interest in the program. Hoag Hospital Newport and Hoag Irvine are very close. St. Joseph's is convenient. Doctors and other local medical facilities are nearby. Regents Point has transportation available for Medical Needs. Since Moving to Regents Point we sold one car and only drive about 6,000 miles a year on the one car we have. Public and private transportation is readily available and because of the close proximity of everything the cost is very reasonable. It is one of the best decisions we made in our 49+ years of marriage.
