I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend stayed for a while at the Waters of Indianapolis. Overall, it was clean and nice, and they have therapy, which is very good. The staff was a five. They were very good to her and very helpful. However, she was not happy with the food; she hated it.

I am a friend or relative of resident

This is the worst place you could send your loved one. In the begining the care was great because my mom was just there for rehabilitation. When we decided to make her a resident the level of care went down. They are understaffed and the staff they do have are lazy. My mom has not been cared for the way she should have been. I do not recommend this nursing home for anyone!!!

I am a friend or relative of a resident

He was in The Waters for 11 months, and he died. We had great services from over there. The staff was impeccable. They were just very, very caring, and we really had to have no intervention with them at all, as far as their care during the evenings and when we weren’t visiting; they were absolutely perfect. He ate fine up until the last month and a half, and then the taste for the older persons went away, so the food was great. The coffee was good until he was under the medicine or the care of the doctors that made him have bad taste with the food. Because of his first stroke, we wanted him to transition into hospice, and this facility was one of the only ones that would go right to hospice. He needed special care because he was in a wheelchair. He was in great shape physically and mentally, except his legs wouldn't support him. It was a really good facility. They had big nurses and big assistants that could pick him up, put him in the chair, or take him to the shower and do different things, so he was always under very good care.

I visited this facility

This facility provided sufficient care and catered to the resident's special dietary requirements. I found the live birds in the entryway to be a nice touch and the resident enjoyed watching them. The staff had no problem with us checking the patient out to wander the grounds or even go offsite for a time. Obviously, this is handled on a case-by-case basis. Additionally, a very friendly dog wanders around the facility from time to time, which is pleasant for residents. The staff was friendly and seemed competent. They were prompt about seeing to needs, and were pleasant to visitors as well as residents. They answered my questions about the resident's care openly, and were happy to direct me to the right people to talk to about mail, food, etc.My only significant complaint was that several of the hallways had a strong smell of stale urine. I understand that some people in the facility lack control of their bodily functions, but I would hope properly cleaning such messes would be a high priority.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

My experience with The Waters was one I'd rather not go through again. My Mother passed away while staying there. I'm not saying it was because she was there, it's just I didn't think they were doing a good job of keeping her pain under control. (She had lung cancer). She had to be transferred to a hospital. One of the nurses actually made the comment that she wouldn't see summer.."well you won't be here then" is what she said. I tried to change the subject but I know my Mother heard it. On the other hand some of the aides and nurses seemed to genuinely care about her well being.

Friend or relative of resident

My loved one was here for rehab. The nurses and caregivers are good to great, but they contract their rehab therapists and the rehab is a joke. Taking someone into a room and having them sit for 55 minutes not doing anything and then doing two exercises and leaving and calling it an hour of rehab is a boldfaced lie. They had one each physical, occupational and speech therapist in a room with 13 residents there to get therapy. One or two at a time were actually doing something. I witnessed this on more than one occasion. Would recommend for long-term care but not for rehab to actually get better.
