The Village of River Oaks

I chose The Village of River Oaks. The building was brand new. It's only four years old, so everything was new. The main thing is they had a big suite available that they gave me the deal on. That was probably the primary thing was the value of the size of the suite, where it was located, and that it was a real good value. Secondly, I would say the distance or the time it takes me to get from my house over to there. I'm familiar with that area. I don't have a problem as far as remembering how to get over there, and the drive isn't impossible. I was looking for memory care for my parents. We saw the building. The guy was very thorough and was answering questions, which you'd expect. He was very enthusiastic, very animated, and accommodating. They had parking. You could park your car inside the gate, so that was good. It looked nice going into it. Aesthetically, it looked fine. They did have an area that I thought was sort of unique. It was like going outside, but you really weren't going outside. It was all like a certain floor. You could go out and sort of enjoy the fresh air, but it's like you couldn't jump out of the building or anything like that. You can enjoy the outdoors, but not be on the first floor where somebody might wander into traffic or who knows what they might do. It was safe for people to go out there. It was a pretty big area, so a lot of people could mill around in there to feel some fresh air.

I was very impressed at The Village of River Oaks. I went to see their memory care. Everything was bright. Everybody seemed active and doing things, and the atmosphere was just nice. The staff was excellent, and the rooms were very nice. The location, for me, is excellent. It's just right down the street. I can walk to it.

My overall experience of touring The Village of River Oaks was excellent. Their amenities are unbelievable, I think I could live there. Their food, the service, the people, the facilities, they're very, very nice. It's only like four years old. They have an indoor swimming pool, they have a pool table, movie nights, a craft room where they can do puzzles. They also have trips to museums and things, if you like. They have very, very good food, I can attest to that. My brother will be moving in there.

We went to The Village of River Oaks. They were very attentive, and they scheduled me quickly. I felt like they were listening to our needs. It was very nice and upscale. If I were going to a senior living, I would want to live there. They had great relations. I felt like I was accommodated there. It was early in the morning, so I wasn't able to see as many of the people that live there in action. The facilities were very clean, and they had medium sized rooms. It looked like a real living space. It felt like a tiny apartment rather than a hotel room. I had a good impression of that. They had a swimming pool. There are shopping centers in the River Oaks area, and they had buses to shopping. I had a good feeling about it. However, I felt like the staff didn't have a background in medical stuff. The person was from a hotel. He couldn't really answer specific questions about elderly people's needs. The food looked delicious. I didn't try it, and I was a little confused because there were prices next to it. I couldn't tell if the dining room was a restaurant or like a cafeteria. It was unclear if they were going to be paying, like if you want a chicken. I didn't know how that worked. The facility was new and up-to-date. They gave us wine at the end. I felt like they're trying to sell me the place.

I didn't want to go to The Village of River Oaks because I thought it was too far out from where I needed to be, but after seeing it, I decided it's lovely, and I'm moving in there. I walked in and there was a very, very warm feeling about it. I looked at some others that were very cold, and this was very comfortable and decorated beautifully. It really is very, very lovely. It has an elegance about it, and I'm very pleased with it. The staff was pleasant and took me around, and they're following up with things that I needed. They've been very good. It's a very good facility, very nice, laid out well, and there were a sufficient number of elevators at different locations.

This memory care facility has the most important thing you should be looking for. Caring caregivers, Resident directors and executive and assistant directors. The medic team the caregiver director are all OUTSTANDING. After over a year I can say they care. They are constantly trained and what we all want for our parents or loved ones is being well cared for. Everything else you can visually see which is great. But the care, you have to know. 5 stars. They are also so receptive to any comments and will do everything in their power to make it better or change

We visited The Village of River Oaks. They had some very nice apartments, although some of the better ones on the higher floors were taken up. They didn't have a very flexible plan for meals. Essentially, you have to eat all your meals there. They had very nice kitchens and you can cook on your own if you want to, but you have to pay for meals, and that's not a very workable situation. The other thing we don't like about the place was it's awfully crowded. The buildings were very crowded together. There's absolutely zero green space, so you're essentially living in a hotel and also the lower floors look out on a whole bunch of electrical stuff. There's no room to break it up with some green space. It's not a place that we would consider moving to. There are many places that allow flexible meal plans, and this place does not. The people who work for them are wonderful. The price is on the high end, but it's not because of the rent on the apartment, but because you're required to eat all the meals there.

I had a nice visit with Luis, who took the time to understand my parents' unique considerations. The place has all the important amenities, and the food tastes very good. Their pricing is competitive. I also love the location. I think it would be a good choice for my parents.
