We looked at Brazos Towers at Bayou Manor, it's a really nice community, but they require a huge downpayment, like half a million dollars. We saw independent living but they are progressive, they have all three levels of care. The staff there took my parents on three tours, so we went three different times and looked at apartments. I didn't eat there but my parents did, and they said that the food was very good. They have progressive units, independent, memory care, and assisted living, and they seemed to be on top of everything. They have a saltwater pool, they have a salon, and they have a weight room, which is nice because it's all hydraulic weights, so no free weights to drop on your toe and break your little toes. They also have a library.

You have to practically be 90 years old to get into Bayou Manor and have about half a million dollars. I was 80, so they wanted $1M from me. It’s too expensive for the normal person. It had beautiful facilities and modern utilities, like a washer and dryer in the room and all that stuff, but it’s not affordable. Everything was gorgeous. They had excellent entertainment and a room like in a cruise ship where the stage is for programs and entertainment. They had gorgeous meeting rooms and huge facilities, and actually it’s not completely finished it. It’s in my chosen area, if I could choose that place, but I had only $500,000 that I could get my hands on, and they would not talk to me because that was not enough. It’s too expensive. Everything is excellent there, and you’ll get your money’s worth if you just have the money. It's the best one I've seen in Houston.

Bayou Manor is a truly beautiful facility, staffed by caring and competent people. Our Mom loved her stay there and was proud to have visitors join her for a meal in the dining room. The gardens are quiet an beautiful, ad many days we would simply stroll around the garden enjoying the botanicals and the birds. The medical care section of Bayou Manor does not feel at all like a hospital or clinic. The staff are very gentle with the residents. Most non-critical ailments can be cared for here, although more serious cases are referred to local hospitals for urgent care.Every holiday season was an occasion for specially produced event, to brighten the days and evenings of residents. Costume parties, cook-offs, pageants, and competitions of various kinds were highlights of each resident's time at Bayou Manor.Family and friends wer very welcome to visit the residents, both in their private or semi-private aparments, and in the medical care sectuion as well.

We visited the beautiful Brazos Towers at Bayou Manor assisted living facility while looking for a place for our aunt. The outside was extraordinarily beautiful, with lovely courtyards, well manicured lawns and plenty of seating to enjoy. The interior had a stunning decor -- modern and current, but still home-like. The nicely appointed foyers offered plenty of fresh air and bright light, with comfortable furniture. The outer grounds was easily accessible for residents, where they could enjoy walking around freely with minimal supervision. Those who need more can easily get it as they could accommodate all levels of ambulation. The many corridors offered a variety of beautiful, comfortable furniture with a great decor. The seniors easily socialized, made crafts, played card and other games, enjoyed watching TV and films and participated in a variety of other stimulating activities. All of the interior had plenty of fresh air and light with beautiful views and furnishings. The color scheme was soothing and comfortable, yet fresh. The private units were spacious in very nicely decorated surroundings. All of them had a great deal of natural light and fresh air. The comfortable furniture was accented by lovely decors - each seeming specially designed according to taste. The main dining room was stately - with plenty of space. The casual eating areas were restaurant style, as was the service. The food was high-end and looked and smelled delicious. The menus featured many healthy food options for all diets. Healthy snacks are also offered all day long and into the evening, as well as whenever residents desire them. The fitness center can be used at any time, and yoga and aerobics as well as a variety of other classes, plus personal trainers were available. The residents go on many trips to visit Houston's art galleries and museums, and to dine at the many casual and fine eateries and other cultural events offered in the region regularly. This is an absolutely beautiful facility that is constantly being updated. The seniors here looked as though they were really enjoying living here. It did not seem like an assisted living facility, but more like a fancy condo development that just happened to have a kind and caring staff running it.
