My sister has numerous and unique debilitations. The management and caregiving staff at Brookdale Heights have been very sensitive to her needs. My sister feels safe and well cared for. I feel so grateful that the staff is very open to communicating with me and tweaking their care plan as they get to know her to provide the best care possible.

I’m in love with this facility. My aunt whom I’m so very close to had to abruptly move into this facility. The entire staff and residents helped so much with such an anxious time for me because I don’t live in the area. Betsy was amazing as we toured many times and checked with us regularly before we made our decision, She was personable and so kind. Then after we decided Stephany stepped in and literally had to walk me through everything because I was by myself. They even helped me secure a wonderful company to move her at the last minute. I felt it was all designed by God. Bob was amazing getting her tv set up the night she moved and was so kind to her, Michael was so sweet and amazing as well to us that first week end getting her involved. This is never an easy decision for the new resident or family but we were blessed to find Brookdale Pinegate

My mother moved into Brookdale The Heights and we liked what we saw and everything that she could benefit from. It was also very close to our house. I like what they're able to do for my mom. The staff seems to know my mom and I like the way that they interact with her. I have not had the food yet, but my mother doesn't like it. She likes to play bingo, but she is very picky about what she likes to do and a lot of the activities they have she does not like to participate in. Their facilities are so homey and so comfortable. They have a salon, but she prefers to go to her own hairdresser that is around the corner from the facility. The place is two miles from my house. The Memorial Hermann is around the corner. I would not have picked that facility just because of that hospital.

I visited this facility

My tour at Brookdale the Heights memory care was very nice. The woman who took us around was also very nice. It's really just an older facility. To me, it was kind of depressing. The rooms also looked depressing. It's in a very nice neighborhood though. It may be a little bit further for me, but it wasn't that far. I just was not impressed with the facility, and that's all I want to say about it.

My Mom researched and chose this place. The place is run down, very slow to do needed repairs in room. Care was inconsistent. Sometimes good but when bad, really bad. Note that this place is right by White Oak bayou. During the last flood it was very difficult to reach the facility. Water was in the front of the grounds. The power was lost and the backup generator didn’t work so residents sat in the dark until it was repaired. This was not during Harvey but later; not a major hurricane. Lastly, there were extra charges on every months billings. Resolution was impossible. Beware; save the heart ache and go somewhere else.

Rooms are nice. Not enough help from workers for the price paid, workers do not interact with residents, & at times ignore their needs. Activities director is best person here. Some workers do not speak English at all. Call buttons on wheelchair residents are seldom answered. Food is very good. Several things have needed repairs for quite some time. Last summer's staff was awesome, but since they have left, it has become a sad place. Despite the high rent paid, Brookdales corporate will add inexcusable charges to each months bill.

Brookdale The Heights is an OK place. There's definitely stuff they could do better there. The rooms are nice and I like the setup a lot, but as far as the cleaning of the rooms and communication about medications or what's going on, I'd just rather have one or two people at the facility that I could call. They should have somebody at least that's there eight or nine hours a day who knows what's going on. The staff seems pretty good as far as being friendly and nice. I only ate the food one time right before we were moving in, and it was good, and a lot of the stuff they have looks pretty good. My mom seems to like their food for the most part. Some of the residents play dominoes, and they exercise. They're not the most expensive, but I think we should get a little bit better care, cleaning, and attention for the money. I really like the location, so there's some good about it, and there's some not so good about it.

My husband is in Brookdale The Heights. The place is OK and the staff is friendly. His room is OK, and it's clean. The food is good. They have quite a few activities, like church services and dominoes. The residents look happy.

Mom is well taken care of at Brookdale the Heights. She's doing therapy, and they take her to church on Sundays. They take care of her 24/7. The staff is OK. They serve 3 meals a day. There's a nurse that brings Mom to her doctors' appointments. Mom said she likes the breakfast, and the lunch is OK.

I visited Brookdale The Heights. The staff was friendly, accommodating, and very caring. The rooms were very nice and of an average size. They told me that my husband was functioning higher than the patients there and recommended me to another place. It was very nice and clean.

Brookdale The Heights was older and needed some maintenance. We saw some things that needed attention like chipped paint. It just needed refreshing. It was dated, too.

My stepfather is in Brookdale The Heights. The staff is very attentive. They take very good care of my stepdad. The place is very clean without odor. They have really good food -- my stepfather loves it -- and the dining room is very open. They make sure that the patients are sitting in the same location every time to create a routine. Overall, it is a very good facility.

I visited this facility

Brookdale was very nice. The apartments seemed nice. Everything seemed to be clean and well kept. The lady that showed us around was very nice and showed us everything. The kitchen was well equipped, and the dining area was clean. They showed us the facilities, and they seemed to be fine and adequate. They had a lot of activities. They had club tables, and they had people come in and do music. They would go outside and do things.

I was satisfied with Hampton. My husband was there three years, and we could no longer afford it. It has a lovely floor plan, a great patio, and yard that they can go out into. They have a big group room where TVs and sofas are, and they could conduct activities. They lost a good activity director a year ago, and it has been hit and miss. The dining room is big, and they have difficulty coordinating the meals with 21 people there. They kind of hassled at meal times. The food is OK. Sometimes, in the evening, the portions were not big enough.

I visited this facility

I liked the Hampton very much and it was very nice. It was kind of expensive but you get what you pay for. The rooms were very nice and spacious. The staff was most helpful and willing to take me where I want to go. The residents were also very friendly.

I visited this facility

Disappointing. Moved my mother in in May of 2012. it took 30 days to get them to do the insert for the refrigerator and microwave they promised would be done in the day after she moved in. I requested they do her laundry, they agreed. We set up a payment schedule $7.00 per load. They never did the laundry. I ended up taking the laundry home and finding medications in the pockets of her clothing, because they were not making sure she was taking the medication. I spoke to the Executive Director about this, and was assured she'd take care of it, and it has happened four additional times--each time i have spoken to the ED and nothing has changed. The medicine supervisors also have the tendency to hand the medication to whoever is with my mom and ask them to give her the medication (even once when someone was standing next to her in the elevator) so much for privacy and dignity. In addition they tell you the residents are given food choices when the reality is that a pre-prepared plate is set in front of the resident with out care for choice. the activities programming is almost non-existent (scheduled things don't always happen and few things are scheduled). I've been paying for "stand by" shower assist only to discover my mom has been hanging her urine soaked cloths in the shower to dry. The team has either been a) taking the clothing out of the shower (not doing the laundry I ask them to do) and then have her take her shower and then they rehang the clothes in the shower or B) They don't see she gets the shower- but they charge for the service. The most recent incident is when I made a request for a light bulb on November 7th because my mom gets up at night to use the restroom. On the 9th I got a call (I was out of town) that she fell but was "ok" I asked if they had changed the bulb, they said "no" but they would do it immediately. On the 11th I got a call that she fell but was "ok" i again asked if the bulb had been changed? I was told "no, but they would do a maintenance request" I called my mother on the 13th and she said she fell again and got herself up. I called the community and found out the ED was out of town and then I called the Vice President of the region, I discussed my concerns and told him I was out of town but was out getting a light bulb so when I returned I'd replace it. He assured me I did not need to buy a bulb and that he would contact the regional director to deal with the situation. She (the regional Director) called me on the 14th and assured me she would deal with the situations (care, showers, meals, med passes and light bulb) on the 15th my mother fell in the dark going to the restroom hitting her head, bruising her buttocks and breaking a finger. No bulb had been changed. I took her to the emergency room. I returned from the hospital with her and changed the light bulb. Then after I called the regional director to let her know my mom had fallen and broken a finger, the maintenance guy shows up to change the bulb.????? To top that off I gave the pain medication to the visiting wellness nurse ( the community nurse quit or was fired) and told her I needed to make sure my mom "got " the medication and "actually takes it" and told her how they have been found in her pockets and the med passers are handing it to others to give to my mom and she assured me it won't happen like that anymore. Sat Nov 17th two days after that conversation the Med passer hands a friend visiting my mom her medication and asked her to give it to my mom, and then later that day on the next med pass hands it to a friend in the elevator to give to my mom. The upshot is that while I am currently looking for a safe environment for my mom I've had to go to the extreme of hiring a "sitter" to make sure she is cared for, until I can get her to a good place.

I visited this facility

The place is beautiful and clean. The staff is very friendly. But after moving my mother there, I have been very disappointed in the level of care she is getting. They are completely understaffed. Therefore mistakes are made and care is neglected. Meds are not given out on a timely basis. The meds are sometimes given out incorrectly (which I've witnessed myself more than once). They leave out pills, or give too many sometimes. In my opinion, that's unacceptable. I've asked that my mother get regular assisted baths and they continually put it off until I get in their face about it. My mother is unable to make her own decisions at this point, and they keep putting off giving her bath because that's "her choice". I don't know how much longer I can keep her there and feel good about it. Currently, the company is apparently more concerned about bottom line than they are the residents.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The staff were always courteous, and the facilities were always clean. There were some instances of communication problems - for instance, we would try to schedule my grandmother to have her hair done, and the appointment would get canceled. But, since she may have been telling them to cancel it or that she didn't want her hair done, we can't really blame the facility for that. I especially liked that relatives of residents had the option to eat with them in the dining room. We were able to enjoy a few meals together with my grandmother in her new home before she passed away. I will be forever grateful to the staff at The Hampton for caring for her in the last months of her life.

I visited this facility

The experience had with the mentioned facility was quite pleasant. They were very welcoming, and the atmosphere was very relaxed. The employees did everything in their power to make sure I felt at home. I really look forward to staying that the Hampton at Pinegate this year and years coming. My children also felt comfortable at the idea of me living there. They were happy that I was happy.
