Friendly staff. Facility smells and looks clean. Residents appear to be happy and engaged. Seems as though there is some sort of event or celebration happening for the residents.

I am/was a resident of this facility

Atria Westchase is very professional and very helpful. Everything is immaculate. It's not real fancy, but it's very, very clean, and up to date. I have a little studio apartment and there's lots of grab bars for assistance. There are activities all day such as exercise classes, bingo, and other games. There's also a nice outdoor area with lots of porches where you can sit out. The grounds are very pretty. They have it landscaped usually and it's very accessible to a really nice porch that overlooks the ground. The food could be a little better, but I think it's probably on par for a large community. We have assigned seats and it's prepared very well. It's served hot and served from a menu. I just prefer a lot more fresh vegetables and fresh fruits.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My friend is in Atria Westchase memory care. The staff is incredibly supportive, kind, and caring. They are very efficient. They are very clean. They provide a myriad of activities for the residents. They take them on field trips. They have happy hour, and they bring in live music and entertainment. They have their act together. The best thing is just the care that they give to the residents. We love it.

Provider Response

Hi Luci, It has been our pleasure to serve your friend. Our residents mean the world to us. Thank you for sharing your kind compliments!

We went to look at Atria Westchase. The staff was great. It had independent living, assisted living, and memory care. My mother-in-law commented that she didn't see a lot of people smiling. The layout was fine, but the closet space was not a good selling point for her. At the price point that she was looking at, she could only do a one-bedroom. The presentation and taste of the food were good. It was good standards, but nothing out of the ordinary.

My mother is a new resident at Atria Westchase and we are extremely impressed with all they provide, and the staff there is absolutely fabulous! My brothers and I couldn’t be happier that we chose this facility for our mother. There are countless activities provided for the residents. The food is very good with lots of choices. She's always been particular about food and their food passes that test with flying colors!

I visited this facility

I went to Atria Westchase in Houston and it was a nice place. It's an assisted living facility with 80 people, and lots of amenities. I think I like that concept much better than having my mom live in a house with other people. I went there and met the person who showed me around. I really like it and it's one of the places I like. I just met the director and he showed me around the place. He's a really friendly fellow, really thorough too. The rooms were pretty spacious. I thought it would be enough space for what my mother was looking for. They offer three meals a day, entertainment, activities, and transportation to and from the doctors' office, that type of thing. I think they also do yoga and they have a salon, things like that.

I visited this facility

I like Atria Westchase. I like the way that it was set up in the front when you walked in. There was somebody at the front desk greeting you. It was clean, it didn't smell bad, it smelled clean in there, and it didn't smell like a nursing home. Some of the assisted living places don't smell that way, even though they're not supposed to be that way. It felt more like a place to live. It makes the residents feel like they're not in a nursing home. It's more of a place to live and still be kind of independent. The staff was really friendly. Everything was very clean there. The accommodations were nice. They had good activities and a lot of different options. They do weekly and maybe even twice a week church services for some of the residents. I think they do the online service, but at least they're doing something. I like that place.

My husband is at Atria Westchase. I have no complaints. I have not spoken to him in detail about his experience, but he has had no complaints about the staff or any other aspects of his life there. He has been there for three weeks now. I chose it because it has all the amenities he needed. They had transportation, a studio apartment, and the location was good. Those were some of the features that were important to us. The staff was easy to work with. They have Covid restrictions for visits, so I haven't visited him, but I have been there to leave items for him and to pick up items from him. He is very comfortable there and he has never said one negative thing about the place. The people with whom I've interacted were very helpful, and based on what I have seen, the facility is OK. Compared to other facilities that provide the same services, I'm satisfied with the value for money.

Atria Westchase wasn't new, but it was very clean and didn't have any unpleasant odors. The facility was very well laid out, too. They didn't have quite as many different public areas, but the rooms were nice, and the staff was very good. My tour there was a little bit more limited. I was kind of in the back door, so I didn't get to tour all the public-area facilities. I only spoke to the sales person, but she was very pleasant and answered all my questions. It was in a very nice neighborhood.

Atria Westchase was a wonderful property visually. The staff was friendly, and all the residents looked happy. There were a lot of activities for them to engage in. They gave me an apple pie as thanks for coming to visit them, and it was very good. They have piano nights, they play cards, they can plant flowers, and they have singing groups. The staff was great and very welcoming. It's a beautiful facility, very clean, very modern, and up-to-date.

Provider Response

Kevin, Thanks for visiting us at Atria Westchase. It was our pleasure to show you around, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

I didn't like Atria Westchase much. It's very small and intimate. We went to the memory care area, and they're very good at making sure that their memory care patients are out and about and not in their rooms. There were all kinds of activities going on and even though it was depressing because you're looking at people who are deteriorating, they were very active and kept them engaged. The facilities weren't as nice but were adequate. They had the service dogs come in when we were there.

I visited this facility

Atria was comparable to the general atmosphere to where my dad is now. The concern that we had was that the room they offered my father was at the end of the hall right next to the exterior door, which he could walk through, and he has a fall tendency, so we didn’t think that was the best accommodations for him in his condition. They seemed very knowledgeable and showed us the memory care. It was quite a lovely facility. The dining area was open, but the memory care residents don’t partake in the dining area; they have their own wing, where security is a tight, so they can’t get out.

I visited this facility

Atria Westchase seemed very luxurious, and the staff was friendly. They were very proud of their kitchen. They kept talking about how excellent their food was. However, it was a lot pricier than the other two locations, and for me, it didn't offer anything that the other two wouldn't have in terms of staff, beauty, and luxuriousness. I didn't see the added factor for those couple of thousand dollars more. It is a very beautiful place, and you feel like you're in a resort, not so much like in a community. It is very hotel type.

Atria Westchase seemed to be a much nicer place than any of the others that I visited. Their staff seemed very good, and all of them have been there for many years. I found that Atria is far way better than anywhere else I visited in terms of appearance and staff. My wife has been there for about three weeks now. It is a great environment, and the rooms are nice. She doesn't have one of the biggest rooms, but she does have a nice one. The environment looks to be safe and caring. They have people 24/7 in the Alzheimer's care unit.

My brother is in Atria Westchase. I like the staff, the cleanliness, the size of the rooms, and the exceptional food. They seem very engaged with the patients, very caring, and very willing to answer when I have questions. If I have any complaints, they check in to it. They offer activities, like any other assisted living center, like games, exercise, and stuff like that. They provide trips outside the community for men and women such as an opportunity to go shopping once a week. The neighborhood is upper-middle-class. I guess the only negative is that it is within a very busy street. If someone walked out onto the street, there can be a bad outcome. They have a memory care unit, which is locked, but the assisted living side is not. My brother is very happy there.

I went to three facilities, and I really liked Atria Westchase the best. It was well decorated. The staff was very professional. They gave me an apple pie when I left. They had their own chef. They also had a driver with a town car that can take residents to appointments. It was pretty topnotch. The rooms were adequate. There was nothing really fancy about the rooms. They had a full-sized refrigerator. They had like a media room, and they were playing games in the dining area.

Atria was nice and better, but it’s a little pricey, and I liked them. They had everything nice, the food was good and homemade. There was a free pie during our visit.

We chose Atria West Chase because it is close to home. They have excellent food, and my father-in-law likes it. They have a lot of fresh food that they serve on their menu, and that is important to me. I really like the staff. They have been there for a long time, and that's why they work together well. They are very attentive to his needs. They are great, and he also loves the staff. They have a designated smoking area, and my father-in-law smokes a pipe. He's actually doing remarkably there. They have a lot of activities, but I'm still trying to make him get involved in them because he is very shy, but he has met some of the residents. When I go up there, I see him out front sitting with other residents, chit-chatting. There are some nice people there.

We moved my mom last February to Atria Westchase. When she was in a nursing home, she was very depressed. Since she moved into this facility, she has blossomed. She talks to people, and she bathes whenever they want to give her shower. She changes her clothes every day. She has accepted physical therapy. She has also accepted beautician work, getting her hair cut, getting her nails done, which she never accepted at the other place. It's just total turn around in her that I see at Atria in comparison to the traditional nursing home, which is good. With their activities, they have exercise, and they throw balloons to each other. They also have some parties, music, and dancing. Their staff is very caring and nurturing, and the patient to staff ratio is much better than that at the nursing home.

Atria was very well laid out. They gave us a pie, and it was good. The rooms were good, the place was clean, and the people seemed happy. Personally, it didn't have as homey feel as others. I don't think they had a good view. It was more in the city and I don't think it had as much green space around it. They had a lot of activities. I liked the staff a lot. They were very pleasant. The people seem to enjoy talking to them. But it wasn't the right place for my mother.

The staff at Atria Westchase were great. The food was fine. The only thing my mom complained was that she had nobody to talk to because she had a higher cognitive function than the other residents. She would transfer to the independent living once the room was available for her.

Atria Westchase is on the west side of Houston, about a mile away from the Houston Medical Center, which is an acute care hospital with a geriatric psych unit. Atria offers higher end assisted living and memory care for residents with mild dementia or or other mental illnesses or disabilities. (The breakdown is about 70 percent elderly, 30% disabilities.) It's close to other assisted living communities, and there's a lot of socializing among them. But it's a busy area, so families considering it should note that there's no locked unit for anyone with cognitive impairment who wanders. Among the pluses: - All the rooms are private and are set up like small apartments; some studios are available. - It's very homey--has good ambiance. - It's a one story facility, with about 40-45 apartments. - Medical management is good. - The staff is caring and attentive and includes certified nursing assistants. - The food is very good. There are lots of menu options, served restaurant style. And breakfast is cooked to order. - They have activities 7 days a week: exercise classes, outings, wine and cheese hour, ice cream socials, live entertainment, etc. - Parking is good.

This facility has a lot of space. Each resident is assign to a apartment that has a bathroom, living room, and kitchen. Its pretty big. All the apartments are join in together similar to a nice hotel. There are staff there 24 hours a day for medical assistants if needed. When i was there i saw a resident that was very ill, he was having complications with the flu. The staff went above and beyond the scope of their employment to make sure he was compfortable, taking all his medicine and that he was getting better. They did a great job in assisting this ewsident with great care!
