All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough

I had an in-person tour of All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough. They were extremely friendly, warm, and very embracing about the care. They just seemed to have great staff. I like that facility. The only problem with them is most of the rooms are shared rooms. You can occupy the entire space of a shared area, but that would just double the cost, which comes out to the same amount of money if you went anywhere else with my mom's own room. It was fine. We liked that place. We intended to put her there so she could have her entire space without sharing it with anyone, which would have been fine, but it's too far away from us. It's an hour's drive. There's a refrigerator and a microwave in the unit. The bathroom is perfect. It's ideal because it has the pulldown shower chair that's already installed. In most places, you have to bring your own shower chair, but they had that and they had a heating lamp. It was very nice. Very nice. The facility is very small. It's not for everybody because it doesn't have a lot of areas where you can visit with your family members. It's a very small type of assisted living, which is fine for some individuals, and not everybody would like that. It was fine with us. The person who took me around was phenomenal. She went well above. She was extremely accommodating. The menu doesn't have much to speak of. It didn't have that much going for it compared to some of the other places. It was very basic. It was okay.

I ended up liking All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough best just because every staff member I encountered there was very friendly. There were a ton of activities and it seemed like the majority of the residents there were engaged and occupied in those activities. They had at least two choices for every meal. There were regular things that Mom could order if she didn't happen to like the offerings for the meals. The studio was really nice and spacious. They had a refrigerator in the apartment. They have outdoor spaces and a couple of them spread around the outer perimeter of the facility, and there's a walkway that goes all the way around. We felt like the lady that gave us the tour is an old friend right away. She showed us all kinds of options for facilities that would be available for my mom, made sure we saw every part of the facility, and gave us an opportunity to peek in on one of the activities that the groups were doing. I just felt like she was open and honest and spent a ton of time with us.

All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough was very nice. However, it was not what I would consider. The cost was less, but you have two people sharing an apartment. There were two separate bedrooms, but the common area (where you would watch television or put your little microwave and other stuff) was shared by two. I was very happy with the two people who spoke to me about the facility. They were extremely pleasant and nice. For somebody who could not afford assisted living, it was a nice place. It was just not my type of a facility.

My brother moved into All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough. I liked it. I thought it was a good place. It's not a very old community, so now is the time to get in there, because it's not full yet. They are very friendly. They listen to you, they do their very best to take care of things. Nothing's perfect, obviously, but we did have to do a couple of little things. They pretty much take care of everything, his meds and making sure he gets cleaned up, showered, and they make sure he goes down to eat and make sure he's safe, and they're very good. They have lots of activities for the residents there to participate in and they do have some outings that they can take residents on if they wish. They have a good time there. They do a good job of keeping everybody happy and the workers are happy to. They're friendly and they obviously enjoy what they're doing there. He likes the food. He said the meals are good. He doesn't have any complaints about the food. They have crafts, they have karaoke, they have events for holidays, and I think they have religious services if you want to attend. They have some outings that you have to sign up for if you want to go shopping at Walmart, or lunch at Applebee's, or something like that. They have physical therapy, you can participate in that, and they have exercises that you can go to in the morning and in the afternoon. It was a little less expensive than some of the other places. Not a big amount, but I think you get a good value for it, and I think it's OK. He's getting good care.

I had an in-person tour of All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough. I saw a two-bedroom apartment, which I liked. But I didn't like the way that the staff interacted with this one woman. I thought it was a little harsh. The one room that I liked was the one that was in the corner and would get a lot of light. I liked the two bedrooms, which were not right next to each other. There was some space between the two bedrooms, so that was good. The residents could get privacy. There was a kitchen, but there was no stove. They have bingo, a library, a TV room, a dining hall, and a cafe. I met the occupational and physical therapists.

My sister-in-law had a very good experience at All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough. She had friends there and they had a little dining area for their memory care residents. They had entertainment every day and different kinds of activities (some of it was a little bit on the religious side or general holidays). They also do puzzles with them and arts and crafts every day (whoever wants to participate). One day when I went in, they had four women playing cards. I also liked their personnel. There were certain girls that were with her for the two and a half years that she was there. She had certain aides that related to her so well. When she fell from her bed (because she tried to get out of her bed with no assistance) in the middle of the night, they found her on the floor. They had to get her up, find out if there was anything wrong, and they were very on target if she hurt herself. The place was very clean. There were two separate little bedrooms (for two separate residents) in her unit and it's very nicely set up. She felt like she had her own room. It wasn't separated by a curtain. When they came out of the door, they had a little living room area. It was also nicely set up and very clean. I never smelled anything. So, she felt comfortable there. It's one of the less expensive, yet I think you're getting a lot for your money.

All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough was good, and it's the one on top of our list. The appearance of the facility was good, and the staff was friendly. They offered me some scones, which were very good. Everybody had to have their vaccines there.

I like All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough, but we wanted someplace closer. It was very clean and it suited our needs, but we weren't too sure about the price. It might have been a little too pricey for our situation. It was pleasant to look at. I like that the memory care unit was a separate section of the facility. The room was very nice, and the bedroom area was very pleasant. We felt it was a little more expensive than what we could afford. The staff who gave the tour was very pleasant and informative.

My dad was in All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough and it was terrible. He was in assisted living. The facility was nice but the care was terrible. They let him sit in his wet diaper for longer than he should have so he got a urinary tract infection and he went to the hospital. He also got a lung infection while he was there. After the hospital, he got better and we decided to move him to another place. He did mostly arts and crafts, they had birthday parties for people, and they did stuff outside. They tried to get him into the activities but he just wasn't up for it. The food was pretty good though, as well as the dining area. The facilities weren't that bad. It was open and as soon as you walked in, they had the major amenities like the reception area, the library, and the open area so you could meet and sit with your resident there. The rooms were also bright and clean. The facilities weren't bad at all. It was the staff that was the worst. They should get better and dedicated staff. That was our major concern. The people and the assistant nurses weren't the best. Like when my dad would need to go to the bathroom, it would take 20 minutes before somebody shows up.

We visited All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough. It's a medium-sized community, but the staff seem very attentive. The sales staff is attentive and patient; they will get back to you. The residents seem attended to. When you go through, you can see that they're doing things. Some are more communicative with you than others. It's in running order. They're not the most upper echelon type of community. There's not a lot of bells and whistles. It looks like they definitely take care of the community and the residents. They offered to provide my mother-in-law with either lunch or dinner, depending on what time we came. They have to set things up. Also with Covid, you can't just have people coming in. The facility is adequate. It seems reasonably clean. There's no smell or anything like that. They keep the facility and the residents clean.

All American primarily had 2-bedroom apartments, and my uncle did not want a 2-bedroom apartment. He wanted his own private apartment. The staff was wonderful. The food was wonderful. The tour was great. Even though the bedroom was private, he doesn't want to share the apartment with another person. Food was fine.

All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough is very nice. It's a beautiful facility, they treat my relative really well, and she really likes it a lot. She's having dementia problems, but she really likes it a lot. She has met a lot of friends, and she said the people are really good and friendly, so that's what's important. We're allowed to go there twice a week for one hour each time, so it's good. She started out in the assisted living, and then she moved to memory care. They have bingo and games, they do arts and crafts, and they have sing-alongs and things like that. She loves the food. As far as I know she's very happy with the activities; we haven't done any with her, but she liked it. It's top notch, the facility is kept very well, and it's immaculate. The value for the money is very good. They take very good care of her.

My parents moved into All American Assisted Living. I chose them because they care about the whole person, especially now with COVID, not just about their health exposure but also their mental health. I believe they do everything they can to try and help the people stay active within the boundaries set for social distancing. That's what really attracted me to them in the beginning, because I felt like they're really concerned about the mental health of elderly people. I think with the isolation right now with COVID-19, it's so devastating, and it produces such loneliness and helplessness, that to hear of an organization that has that as their philosophy was very attractive to us, because of what my parents have come out of. As far as physical and occupational therapy, I know that they're doing Fox Rehabilitation which, I think, is fabulous for seniors. I'm not sure about the extracurricular things that they do but they've done puzzles and things like that. They also have a therapy dog, which has been phenomenal for my parents as they adjusted. They bring the dog in and just let it run around their room and just visit with them, which I think is huge.

My dad moved into All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough last December. It just seemed to have everything that we needed at a reasonable cost. They've been on lockdown pretty much since my dad's been there due to COVID, so we really haven't experienced too much. Everything is good there. It's a good location for us and his family 'cause he's closer. Everything looks fine and in order.

We moved into All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough. There's not enough help here, if I need someone, it might take a while before they come in. We're a little cramped because we have two twin beds in this room, but these are 2-bedroom apartments. Otherwise, the bedrooms are spacious. We've been here for the month, and we haven't gotten involved in anything, but if it weren't for the coronavirus they would have more things, but I've seen people playing bingo, cards, and there are exercise classes. They're a lot less expensive than other places.

My father is a resident at All American at Hillsborough. We are in the middle of the COVID crisis, and like all similar facilities, visitors are restricted. I want to recognize the staff and the management who are doing everything they can to keep our loved ones safe. Yet at the same time recognize how difficult it is to be separated. Our family was thrilled to recently receive a video of my dad where he had the chance to tell us how he is doing and to say he loves us.

I am hopping mad that nobody found it necessary to open mail for my now deceased, very dear friend, so she could read it or it could be read to her. Two Christmas cards with photos I sent to cheer her up. They were just returned to sender (me) which means when the room was cleared out after she passed, the mail that was lying around unopened, was send back! This carelessness, uncaring attitude adds to my grief about loosing my best friend. Shame on you.

All American at Hillsborough wasn't so bad. The only thing I didn't like was the shared part of the apartments. I don't think it would work out for my mother. They had a calendar of activities, but I didn't see any activities going on while I was there. They had a therapy room, but that was basically it. The staff members were pretty nice.

I really liked All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough. When I first walked in, there was a bunch of people exercising in one of the rooms which was really nice. Tanya, the woman who showed me around, was wonderful, very informative, and she introduced me to other residents. She's very helpful in telling me about the whole process. Everything was very clean, and the place was relatively new, about only a year old.

My dad was only at All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough for 10 days. It seemed to be going well and there were no problems. My dad liked the place and he didn't have any complaints. It's a new and nice place and it seemed to be well-organized. My dad needs extensive care so they make sure he's showered and all that stuff, so it's pretty nice. The staff is very helpful and when you press a button, they come for your needs. They take care of the residents so it's good.

All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough was nice. What we didn't care for was the two bedrooms sharing one bathroom and one living area. With the sharing of the living area, we were afraid that it would stop my mom from going to socialize, and we wouldn't want her to stay in her unit. The biggest drawbacks were the distance and the traffic. However, the staff members seemed informative, and the appearance seemed OK. It is a new community with availability. The pricing is very attractive.

Two weeks after my mother-in-law moved to All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough, two people left, the sales person and the top director. The interim people are very nice and the staff members I've dealt with are very nice. There's just one aide who just seems a little abrupt. The dining setup is great. For the most part, I would say they're very good. It's brand new and looks nice. We've just had a few problems getting started. They have a salon, a physical therapy area, a movie theater, and cafeteria. It was more all-inclusive than the rest of the places where every service is a la carte.

My mother moved to All American Assisted Living at Hillsborough, but it needs improvement. They don't respond when people push the help button during the 11-7 shift. The food comes out cold too. There's a room where they can sit around, play cards, and do puzzles.
