My tour experience at Truewood by Merrill, Henderson was terrible. The physical appearance of most of the facility was very nice. The lobby was beautiful, and the place seemed clean. They did not take us to a private room. There were lots of people around, and there was noise from a water fountain. My mother needed to use a wheelchair to go through the facility, and they did not push her. We saw a room, and it was OK. There was a fair amount of storage. We sure didn't feel very welcome there. It would have been nice if they had offered us some water, but there's nothing that really made us comfortable.

My wife and I met with a couple of the managers at Truewood by Merrill, Henderson. We walked through the memory care area and it was explained well to us. We had a good experience with our visitation. We saw a single room and it was a little small, but it was still comfortable and served the purpose. Then they showed us the shared room of two individuals. They had all kinds of things such as occupational therapy, activities, off-campus tours occasionally, and some other things. They had a courtyard, a library, and a couple of areas where they do activities in. The lady from the memory care area did an amazing job as well as the manager. She was very informative.

The facilities are awful to my elder father. They wanted to lock up my elder father for no reason. He is innocent. My father got hurt and they didn’t treat him right away. Please don’t put your loved elder in their care. They cost really ridiculous and didn’t take care with good heart or smile on their face. I feel sad every time I visited them. They don’t look happy living there! Don’t put your loved one there!!!!

My wife moved into Truewood by Merrill, Henderson. It's excellent so far. I like the care that they give the residents, and they're very compassionate. They make sure everybody gets their meals on time. It's just a very calming atmosphere. They don't smell like a hospital or anything. It's very pleasant. They're very nice. They show that they care for the residents, and it's very obvious. I've had a couple of meals there with her and it was excellent. You can actually modify the menu. If you don't want any sweets, you don't have to have it. They make an alternative. They cater to your needs. If there's something you don't like, they'll try to accommodate you. They don't make you eat just everything like everybody else. The facility is really nice. What really stands out to me is that they try to include everybody in their programs. There's no real downtime. They're either showing a movie or playing bingo. There's just a lot of activities and I really like that. They have something for everybody. They'll read a book or just tell a story and whoever's monitoring it will try to emphasize what's going on. The staff is always around. They make sure that everybody gets to their meals on time. It was just a pleasant atmosphere. For the holidays, they're singing Christmas carols and showing Christmas movies. Pricing is a little high, but for what you get, I think it's OK.

I toured Truewood by Merrill, Henderson. The director or the person that gave me the tour's name was Gabby, and she was wonderful. You could just see how committed she was to her role. We started in the common area because they also have assisted living, and the memory care unit is a separate building behind the assisted living. It has very easy access to it, and it's a very secure facility. It was very nice, very clean, very pleasant, both facilities. They adhered to the COVID thing well, which was wonderful. They have both shared rooms and private rooms. Currently, they don't have any private rooms available, I would have to be on a waiting list. But even the shared rooms are very, very nicely done and very clean. The staff was doing bingo with the residents, which was adorable, just to engage them and keep them busy. They explained to me at Merrill that they like to keep the residents out of their rooms, they don't want them just sitting, doing anything. They have quite an activities list, they keep them very busy if they so wish to. If they don't want to participate, no one is forced to, which is great. It was a very nice facility. They gave me a menu and it's quite diverse. They're very happy to accommodate any needs anyone has, it's just very well organized. The facility was very well done. They had several common areas, they have an outdoor area where they can go outside at will. It's all very secure, no one has to be concerned about anyone getting lost or confused. It was a beautiful facility.

My mom is at Merrill Gardens at Siena Hills. We've had a few things that they were very responsive to. They do have memory care, but she's in assisted living right now. The food is good, she's happy with it, and she's a picky eater, so I guess that's good. I've seen the dining area, not when food was being served because of COVID, and I did help Mom move in. The bathroom is very large and spacious, and there is a nice cabinet in there to store stuff, and room for when we brought in some jewelry. They have additional storage, and the shower's a good size. The entryway is nice and wide. It's a one-bedroom unit, a little bit small. I wish we'd been advised, but it's as much space as my mom's need, so it's satisfactory. They have resumed bingo and yoga. They are good about security and health following all the guidelines, so they do feel better about that, and the activities they generally offer and transportation to external activities is significant, so we're hoping that that will be safe and able to be resumed soon, but right now they do have bingo and exercises. They actually do open the dining hall for lunch and are hoping to have it open by the end of the month actually for breakfast as well. It's affordable because of my mom's income level.
