I lived in Meadowbrook of Agoura Hills for three years. What I liked best about the place was their activities and their food. It's a big building and there were two floors and my room was on the first floor. I had a one bedroom and I had a lot of space and I had a cat there. So, they allowed pets. They had some nice activities that I enjoyed participating in and I had a car there, so I could drive and go to some of the stores that provided things that I needed. That was very helpful. They had a wonderful chef who made very good food. It's just expensive.

At Meadowbrook Senior Living at Agoura Hills we met the nursing director in memory care, and we were impressed with her. We liked that there would be people who would help aides who would come and make sure that the residents in the memory care were taken out of their rooms for the whole day and taken from one activity to the next where they could either participate or observe. We liked that it was a flat rate that included the extra care, so that was a big plus. It was nice that the actual architecture kind of looked more like an apartment building than a fancy resort. They had long hallways that you go down. The rooms were OK. The main thing was the care. Overall, we had a better feeling at Meadowbrook. One thing good was that they didn't have a waiting list. They offered a friendship room situation where there could be two people in each of their rooms that share a bathroom, and so that was less costly. That was another nice feature. It was secure. They had a salon for getting your hair done and nails. They had an exercise room. They made a point of having the memory care residents once in a while go out on an excursion, or even participate in certain things that the assisted living residents could do. They had a separate room off of the dining room where residents in memory care, if they were having trouble eating, like dribbling a lot, have their own separate room, so that the other memory care residents weren't with them.

My mother has moved into Meadowbrook Senior Living at Agoura Hills. It's a very clean and nice operation. They've been adhering to the COVID rules of masks and visitors checking in and having to have COVID tests and being negative, and they take your temperature. The environment is very nice. They have activities throughout the day, nothing I'm excited about, but most of the people are pretty old. The food seems to be very good from what my mother's told me. She likes it. They do three meals a day. She's somewhat not completely ambulatory. They pick her up and take her to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It's very quiet and very tidy. The only thing that might be a little bit nicer is if they had more outdoor space. They have multiple areas where residents can sit and chat or talk and then they'll have entertainment in a portion of the dining room. It's quiet even though it's very conveniently located right off the freeway. She's kind of doing some memory care. The staff seemed to be fine and caring during the times when I'm there. If she's in the middle of something, they will return to change her to go to bed or whatever the case may be. The staff seems to be very good. When I've been there, they show up for what they're supposed to do. They change their menu every day. They have a set menu also that's available with some of the regular things that people might want to order regularly. They'll do everything from pasta and beef stew and they'll have fish dishes. They have a good variety. They have vegetables and such. They have an outdoor space, but not a lot, and it's basically like a patio. They have card games, television watching, papier mache things, and walking. They have an outdoor activity in the earlier part of the day every day. For that age group, it's fun. They take them on shopping days. They have a shuttle that they take the ones that want to go. Overall, it seems to be a very nice place, very clean, very comfortable, and efficient.

My dad moved to the memory care of Meadowbrook Senior Living from assisted living. They're wonderful, I love it up there, and it's a perfect thing for him. The staff keep it very nice, it's a very nice place, I know my dad is comfortable, and he knows all the people out there. He's doing very well, the food is pretty good, and even in memory care they go out, and take Dad to little field trips. They play games, have a big table, and sit around and play games. I think anyone who put their family member there will be happy.

The people at Meadowbrook were nice, but the rooms were incredibly tiny, and it had an institutional feel. They had restaurant-style dining where you can order whatever you want. I wouldn’t want to be there because of the rooms. The rooms and the hallways were narrow with low ceilings, so I felt closed in. They had one community room where they did all different things. It was a movie theater part of the time, and then they would change it over to do cooking classes or something like that. It was a multi-purpose room, which I didn’t care for.

Meadowbrook Senior Living is a good place, and my wife is getting what's required. They have activities, but my wife can't participate in them. They are taking good care of her there. The place is clean and well maintained. I've seen the menu, I've had breakfast there, and it was good. The management is good, and the help is good. They are very caring, and they communicate with us. I've visited other places, but this is the best one.
