The Legacy at Southpointe Drive was very good. It was very nice. The layouts were nice. It seemed like a place that would be suited for someone who needs some assistance. It has a community area when you first come in where there were sitting areas, and there's a walkway. The rooms were down a hall and the people were gathered in a dining hall, and that was really nice with the community. The rooms were reasonably sized. They were not overly big, but comfortably big. The staff was excellent. I was very pleased with the workers and how congenial they were towards me. I talked with a few. I actually spoke with the chefs there, too, because I had some concerns for my aunt with the types of food she likes to eat, and she could be satisfied if she went to that facility.

Before my wife moved into The Legacy at Southpointe Drive, I went and visited it with her one Sunday afternoon. A lady named Claudia had called me a couple of times and so I went by to see her place. My wife moved to their memory care facility. It is just one hallway, so there wouldn't be a lot of mindless people wandering around with nobody watching them and taking care of them. The staff and everybody there was friendly and courteous. The residents in the place seemed all to be taking part in what was going on. They had a sing-along there in their big common day room. I decided for it because the memory care facility was slightly smaller than some of the others I'd seen. The attendants seemed to be more involved with their job and the place even smelled better (if you've ever been in these places). However, the person that I was dealing with, Claudia, is sales, not management for the place, and they didn't do things that they said they would do. I was supposed to have a hearing tomorrow and the places that my wife has been in have not complied with getting me the doctor's statement from their facilities that she is a memory patient. Claudia probably could do that before the day was over, but she hasn't done any yet. So, they have canceled my appointment for tomorrow. I wish to leave my wife where she is at The Legacy at Southpointe Drive. I like it. I like the people and it is even much cheaper than the other facility that costs $10,000. They could do it for much less than that and I like their attitude better. She is in a large one-bedroom apartment. It's a room with a bath and it's unfurnished. I had to furnish her bed and TV etc. They furnished TV connections. Plus my wife doesn't know how to turn it on and off, but every time I go over there, the TV is on. So, every day it plays all day long whether she's in a room or not. The rooms are not locked. She can go in and out of her room any time she wants to. She just can't get out of that particular hallway. The only way to get in and out of the memory care unit is to have a proper code for the doorway, which I liked so I don't disturb anyone. I can just go in there and push the code in.

The starting price at The Legacy at Southpointe Drive is less than the other place. Their one-time community fee is less as well. The room is a good size. It's got a kitchenette and two closets, and it's got a shower in the bathroom. The shower stalls have a nice lip that looks like it would not hurt. It would be easy for somebody to get in and out but still would keep the water from getting on the floor. The staff seemed very caring. They will pay for WI-FI, which my brother would not need, but they don't pay for the TV hookup to a cable station or satellite or whatever. There is a good bit of restaurants close by.

Claudia took us around The Legacy at Southpointe Drive. We saw the dining room, which was also the game room, and then she took us up to the second floor and to the back. She did a great job explaining everything and she gave us a folder showing all the costs that were associated with it. We looked at a room and everything looked great. They offer excursions. Every Thursday, they take the residents to Wal-Mart and little shops, but they have a lot of other planned activities as well. It may not be home, but as Claudia put it, they explain to their residents that it's hopefully a pathway to get them back home, and if they don't get back to home, then it becomes their home again. Claudia was just top right. She took us through every bit of it. She explained how they have a doctor that comes in, as well as a nurse, and therapy.

I toured The Legacy at Southpointe Drive. I like how they handle everything professionally. It was clean. The lady staff that we spoke with was very professional. The facility was well taken care of, and the patients looked well. They had a patio, and they had bingo. The residents were very friendly.

Everything's good at The Legacy at Southpointe Drive. They have some good people that take care of you. Mom's room is really clean and nice. They painted it before she moved in it. The dining area is nice and set up well. It's a big room with nice tables and they bring everything out on a regular plate. It's not plastic. The food looks good and she eats it all. They have all kinds of activities such as classes to help with her memory, a regular gym where they could exercise, and grocery trips. It's beautiful outside. They can go and walk around. It's a pretty place. Also, they are priced better than everybody else.
