Caring staff but management is impossible to deal with. Overpriced for very little activity.

Brookdale Grants Pass Village is very good; friendly, good and caring staff. They’re very diligent about keeping track of what she needs and what she needs help with. We like it there. They have an exercise program every morning for the residents. They take them out on trips and for rides around the community. They take them to activities like the senior fair and the home show. They have bingo and crafts that they can take part in. Overall, it’s an excellent facility.

The front line care staff are sweet, hard working, and caring overall and the building is very nice. However, management/nursing staff are beyond unprofessional and unethical. I am an assisted living administrator in another state and find it heartbreaking to try and care for my loved one from a distance with their complete lack of care. Definitely NOT normal Brookdale standards.

We actually took my mom to the Brookdale Village in Grants Pass. She liked the place so much that when she started chewing the food there she moved in about four days later. So far everything is going well. The staff seemed really nice and helpful. My mom never thought she'd like an assisted living place, but she is happy as she can be. It was just what she was looking for. I have eaten there several times, and it was good food. I'm satisfied with the safety and security of the place. As far as facilities they have exercise things, a library, and a hair and nails place. The only thing she makes mention of -- which I'm sure is that way in every place where there are so many people -- is that the food doesn't come out warm. They have three properties there, and she is in one of them.

It is a nice looking institution but looks are deceiving. If you carefull look around you will see broken pole lights in several places, broken lights that are supposed to light your path when you walk, Nobody takes care of the weeds. (All it takes is fertalizer with weed kill) It takes forever to get things fixed even if they are a danger to the client. They promise things in your contract and then it never happens. They charge you an extra $1000.00 when you first move in and it is supposed to go for the people that live there. So in a year they have gotten a dog run and some cedar boxes so the clients can grow vegetables for the kitchen. Who takes care of the vegies, the clients do. At Christmas time they want you to give them an extra $40.00 to give the workers a bonus. I have never heard of a business where the clients are basically told to do this. Usually the company gives the bonuses.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. Please be assured the lighting concerns have been addressed. The Resident Council has put together a letter for the residents on a strictly voluntarily basis, stating if they wanted to contribute to the Holiday fund, they could and the residents handle this in every regard. The residents give these donations to the staff at the community themselves and the community is not involved with the organization and distribution in any way.
If you would like to further discuss your concerns, we hope you will call us at 877-400-5296 or email us at familyconnection@brookdale.com to discuss them in greater detail.

I am very unhappy with Emeritus at Spring Village for my mother. Their food has been terrible and one weekend, they didn’t have anybody to supervise, so their meals were late if they get any meals. We talked with the director and they said, "No problem, we are going to get it fixed", but they haven’t fixed it. With their staff, they don't do what they say they will do. They got better with activities and they have trips. I would not recommend this facility, not with the amount that they charge. When Brookdale took over, I asked if they were going to raise the rent. They told me not, but I got a letter two weeks ago stating in December the rent is going up. I put her in there specifically for them to give her medications and they do that, but they don’t do anything else for her, and yet she is paying a high price for what she is getting.
