I found Cedarhurst of Granite City to be very accommodating and pleasing. I was excited that we could go there. However, my husband went on oxygen last January, and that's when I really kind of decided no. His tank is huge and it would have confined him to a very small space in the living room or the bedroom, and I did not want to confine him more than what he was confined to. The staff were very friendly. I thought the food was wonderful. The staff that brought up the dinner were very friendly, and said 'How are you today?' They serviced you very well. Like 'If you don't like these, is there something else we can substitute that for? Something else you prefer?' and they would do that. With regards to activities, they bring in birds from the wild bird sanctuary. They have weekly bingo there onsite. If you're a bingo player, at least you get that once a week. You could probably get other residents to join in for a card game. There was a member of the card club that was in there a few years back, and they were able to accommodate him once a week for the club to go there and play cards. And the fact that you could get snacks throughout the day and kind of roam the grounds and that you aren't confined to your little place, I found that to be very pleasing.

Cedarhurst of Granite City was very nice. The staff was lovely. The place was lovely, too. I'm sure my cousin would have enjoyed that place, but it was a little more expensive. The rooms were all lovely. Everything was covered like the utilities, the garbage pick up, and so on. The only time the charges started coming in would be for helping with aids of daily living. Right now, my cousin doesn't have any. She's managing everything on her own. They have an apartment setup. It was laid out nicely and beautifully. They had a small park in the back with a walking path that would have been very nice. It just wasn't quite as economical as the other one.

After our sister spent 5 months at two other facilities in the area that were absoulutely horrible, we found Cedarhurst in Granite City and are so pleased that we did! In the 5 months that she has been there, Pam has progressed from the highest needed level of care to the lowest level of care due to the caring staff who go out of there way to make her feel a part of the community and "at home." They have many activities to meet the residents' needs such as weekly outings for shopping, as well as a full daily schedule of activities such as bingo, chair yoga, crafts, music, and dice games. The staff is very friendly and go out of their way to meet Pam's individual needs. It makes us so happy to hear Pam say that she "never wants to leave there."

We placed my dad at Cedarhurst of Granite City. It is affordable. It's a nice facility and was just renovated. The facility is clean. The staff is always very friendly. My dad says the food is good and enjoys it. The staff members are super helpful. Anytime I have questions or need help with anything, they are always available to help. In the memory care unit, they don't do a lot of activities because the residents don't engage a lot. My dad's area has a courtyard and a few outdoor spaces.

Cedarhurst of Granite City was very clean. They were in the end stages of remodeling, so everything was fresh. The office and the foyer outside were clean. Everything looked great. The staff was very friendly, very helpful, and not pushy. The women were playing some kind of a board game when we were there and people who were watching TV together. Others were just sitting around and chatting. The memory care units were good. It seemed to have an OK size that would accommodate someone. The cost was reasonable, but that location was just a little farther than we wanted to go.

My mom moved into Cedarhurst of Granite City. They tried to make my mom as comfortable as they possibly could. It has been a hard adjustment for her, but the people there are friendly. My mom is a very picky eater, but I think the food is good, and she has a good choice. They have a lot of different activities during the daytime for the people. They have bingo and crafts. They go on short little trips. On Sundays, they have someone playing the piano that you could go down and listen to. Every time I'm there, there are always people participating in the activities. They do try to get my mom to participate. The rooms are nice sized. Her room is towards the back of the building, and she has a beautiful view of a pond with ducks and beavers. Every morning, they check on my mom, take her pulse, and see how she's doing. It's in a good location, and it was a good fit for us too.
