M & A's Place  DO NOT accept  dogs or cats since one of our Clients has an ALLERGY to FUR.

M&A's is located approximately  2miles from Holy Cross Hospital and Shady Grove Emergency Room.

M & A's is located at Germantown Station, it is a Residential neighborhood. Our neighbors are very friendly and always greet our clients whenever they take their am walks or evening walks.

During the period of Covid-19. Google Duo, Face-Time and Zoom were utilized. Visiting is normally from 11am- 7pm. Clients family members are called, emailed or text for information about their loved ones.

M & A's Place has (2 ) staff at all time. Daytime Ratio is 1-3 ( including a manager Monday - Friday) Night-Time ratio 1-4 including an RN ON SITE.  M & A 'S also has an RN who is on call for 24-hours.

At M &A 's The IN- House Registered Nurse who is also a Delegating Nurse. Assessment is done prior admission to assess Level of Care Utilizing a Scoring Tool. Assessment is also done every 45- Days.

Daytime 1-3 and with a manager (Monday -Friday ) Night-Time 1-4 ( Including an on -site RN ) 24-hour Registered Nurse on call.

All our staff are required to have yearly training in Alzhiemers and Dementia.  Reviews are done by IN- House Registered Nurse on : Cognitive impairment in the Elderly, management of clients with cognitive impairment. Infection Control and Effective Communication  every  6 months. De-escalation techniques and Mental health training are all ongoing

M & A's Place has 24-hour ADT monitored protection for both Fire and Burglary. Monitored cameras are  also monitored by ADT and  manager. Smoke detectors are located in each clients room and hallways. Carbon Monoxide detectors are located outside each clients room, kitchen area and utility room. Heat detector was recently installed at M&A;S Place. Handicapped accessible bathrooms are provided for All clients. Handicap Ramp is located in Garage are leading to Living area.

Accepted Answer

Assistance with solving Word Search Puzzles, prompts in initiating Puzzles. Reading to clients and assisting clients in writing out solutions to problems. Clients are also encouraged to make a list of their likes and dislikes: food items and activities.

Safety is one of our top priorities. M & A's has 24- hour surveillance by ADT for both fire and burglary. Cameras are monitored by managers and ADT. Heat detector was recently installed at M & A 's Place. Smoke detectors in every room and hallways. Carbon Monoxide detectors out side each bedroom , in kitchen area and Utility room. Handicapped accessible bathrooms and handrails in all areas including  deck area. Ramp in the Garage area leading into the living room area.

Staff has clinical updates on Dementia and Alzheimer's Quarterly. Yearly Training on Mental Health and Cognitive Impairment. yearly training on Effective Communication with Clients and Families. Normal Aging Process and Risk factors of Clients with Dementia and Alzheimer's ongoing.

Solving word problems, puzzles, listening to music (sing along ) at times. Watching movies and news. Ambulatory clients can go shopping accompanied by staff and driver. Ice - cream @ Rita's for ambulatory clients. Non-ambulatory on wheelchairs can also be accompanied by 2 staff with family or POA 's permission. Our clients also enjoy reading the newspaper and discussion of world events.

Accepted Answer

Overall population is a  combination of clients with mild dementia and clients who are alert and oriented to person,place and time. Average age of clients is approximately 72 -74 years. The present group of clients love to play word games and puzzles. Music is used for relaxation since one of our clients is an avid piano player who reads music. Watching the news at 6pm with discussion of World events is yet another pastime for this group. Ambulatory  clients enjoy evening  walks in the neighborhood.

Accepted Answer

Gourmet dining, prescribed menu by physician example a low salt diet. Our AL uses sea salt in most of our dishes. Diabetics are usually ordered a 1800 calorie ADA Diet, our staff utilizes a menu approved by OHCQ Clients on Low Roughage diet are also given diets as ordered by physician. Our goal with meal planning is to ensure it is appealing, appetizing and supply adequate nutrients to all our clients. Residents can request their preferences within the physician's orders. Clients sit together and enjoy their meals .
