I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My 101 year old father has lived at Abba Care assisted-living for nearly 2 years. He has expressed to our family over and over how much he loves “his home “at Abba Care. The caregivers are professional, compassionate, and caring. They care for my dad, as if he were one of their own family. Victoria, RN and Vilma manage the place with great pride, love, and dedication. The meals are nutritious and delicious prepared by experienced cooks. The other residents appear to be happy and well cared for. I highly recommend Abba Care Assisted Living.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

July 2, 2018 my wife had a stroke. To say that the family was devastated is an understatement. After hospitalization and rehab, my wife needed continuous care, something we could not give her at home at the time. She was wheelchair bound, not able to get in or out of bed, or go to the bathroom by herself. I started visiting facilities in my area, knowing this decision was one of the most important ones I would ever make. One facility, not able provide enough care, suggested ABBA CARE, and this was a “God Send” for the following reasons: It’s a small family run facility, whose caring staff treats patients as people not commodities. They work hard to provide a stimulating environment, bringing in church groups, organizing games, providing events to keep the residents involved. Just visit the website. They are located in a residential area with beautiful grounds, a historic 19th century barn and gazebo. It's a wonderful and peaceful place. They are very proactive, 18 months ago my wife developed a slight cough, something I would have overlooked. They quickly recommended hospitalization, and the cough quickly went into phenomena. My wife is incontinent, however I have never found her wet or smelled the associated odor that comes with this issue; In her room or the facility as a whole. I knew I had the correct facility on the first visit, asking if my wife’s stroke had affected one side of her body more than another, and then arranged her bed to encourage working her weaker side as part of her rehabilitation. I can't express how blessed we were to find Abba Care, and how well they took care of her while we weren’t able/ We will forever be grateful to them.

Rooms can be decorated to residents taste. The staff is very caring and attentive to residents. Activities are provided if the resident wants to participate.

I visited this facility

One person for the tour. Not much information. Very quick tour. Did not feel friendly. Felt more like a hospital.

I visited this facility

Abba Care Assisted Living seemed kind of dark when we went in, but the room that Mom would have had was quite large with two closets, a bathroom, and a lot of light. They only thing that bothered me was when we were about to leave, there was this lady who was asking for help and the guy who was giving us the tour just walked right by her and didn't do anything. When I told the guy that this lady needed help, only then did he call someone to help. The place looked like it might be a good place for Mom, until that incident happened. When we walked by the dining area, it smelled so good. We were also told that the chef cooked everything fresh.

About Abba Care Assisted Living in Garland, Texas

Abba Care was founded in 2003, by Victoria Villapando. As a home health nurse, she visited her patients at numerous assisted livings that housed large volumes of residents, who despite occasional nursing visits wouldn’t see improvements in health or lifestyle because of the enormous size of the facilities.

Seeking a solution, she founded Abba Care Assisted Living, one of the first, small resident-to-care ratio assisted livings in the metroplex. With a smaller facility, more resources and attention could be directed towards quality service and resident needs. Instead of closed cafeterias, an open kitchen could be used for meals. Instead of long hallways that were difficult to walk, short distance hallways would be built. Resident laundry and medications wouldn’t be confused because instead of one hundred other neighbors, residents would only share space with fewer people.

Personal Services:

  • We cook home-made meals from scratch in our open kitchen (no closed doors, no pre-frozen cafeteria food).
  • We do laundry per individual. Your private laundry doesn't end up in anyone else's except yours. Literally.
  • We can assist with all your hygienic needs from daily bathing to housekeeping.

Health Care and Day to Day Assistance:

  • We organize and administer daily medication schedules per resident.
  • We can offer transfer assistance for wheel chair and walker users.

Careplan Coordination:

  • We coordinate schedules between residents, caregivers, doctors, hospice, and everyone in between.
  • Every resident receives a different schedule based on their needs, interests, and time-commitments.

Community Interaction:

  • We create events and activities that build relationships with and between residents.
  • We also involve the surrounding Garland community to engage residents with volunteers outside the facility.
